Only some of those were innocents. A quarter to half were "fellow travelers" who fell out of favor. I smile when I dream of the look on the Trotskyites' faces, and their ilk in the other regimes. I do. It's only the others, the ones who were simple statistics and instruments of terror through their, at best, deaths, which cause disturbances in my mind.
