A submarine that went missing over a year ago together with 44 crewmen aboard has been found, the Argentinian navy said early Saturday.

The ARA San Juan submarine disappeared on Nov. 15 last year, sparking an international search operation assisted by the United States and other countries.

The discovery of the sub was announced just days after families of the missing sailors held a one-year commemoration, with Argentinian President Mauricio Macri promising the families that he will find “the truth” about the submarine.

The submarine was detected more than 2,600 feet deep in the waters off the Valdes Peninsula in Argentine Patagonia, the navy’s statement said.

It said the navy made a “positive identification” by a remote-operated submersible belonging to American ship Ocean Infinity, which famously was involved in the hunt for MH370 plane.

Navy spokesman Rodolfo Ramallo said the discovery was made thanks to the company that “decided to do a new search and, thanks to God, it was able to find the zone,” according to Sky News.

“Now another chapter opens. From the analysis of the state in which the submarine has been found, we will see how...

Pandora: The Tale of a Good Girl Gone Bad?

When Pandora opened her box, as the Ancient Greek myth goes, all manner of evil was released into the world - ending the Golden Age of man and forsaking them to a life of death and rebirth. Being the first woman created by the gods, she was sent as a punishment. This set a very negative precedent for the women that would succeed her, and this sexism remains in modern times. However, Pandora was not always despised as the bringer of evil. Originally, she was seen as a life-giving goddess much like the better-known goddesses Gaea, Athena, and Demeter. Over the years, Pandora went from a revered goddess to the root of all evil, later to be conflated with other religions and immortalized in art and myth.

Pandora Unleashes a Punishment for Mankind
Pandora’ by John William Waterhouse, 1896. ( Public Domain )

The earliest written myth of Pandora comes from Hesiod in “Works and Days”, as well as his “Theogony” to a lesser extent. It is in these works that we see the first version of her as an ill-fated human that brought evil into the world. As the myth goes, she was the first woman created by the gods, Hephaestus and Athena at the request of Zeus. Zeus requested that she be made as a punishment to be unleashed on mankind, due to the transgressions of Prometheus, who had stolen fire from the gods and given it to man. Hephaestus molded her from the earth, just as man was created, but all of the gods gave her unique and seductive gifts - the translation of her name is “all-gifted.”

When Pandora was delivered to mankind, she brought with her a pithos (an ancient Greek vessel), later misconstrued as a box, which contained disease, pain, and various other evils that were released to the world. However, once the box was opened and Pandora saw all the evils fly out of it, she attempted to replace the lid, leaving one thing behind - hope. Thus, ended the Golden Age of man and the Silver Age began, in which man was...

BREAKING: Death of Trump HHS official, Daniel Best, tasked with getting lower drug prices from pharmaceutical companies is ruled a suicide, even though he died from "multiple blunt force injuries."

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Nov. 1 death of Daniel Best, a pharmaceutical executive from Bay Village who led U.S. Department of Health and Human Services efforts to lower prescription drug prices, has been ruled a suicide, officials in Washington, D.C., said Thursday.

Police say Best was found “unresponsive” near the garage door exit of an apartment building in Washington, D.C.’s Navy Yard neighborhood at 5:25 a.m. on Nov. 1, and was pronounced dead by medical personnel who responded to the scene.

The city’s Office of the Chief Medical Examiner on Thursday said Best died from “multiple blunt force injuries” and it ruled his death a suicide. It would not release further information.

In announcing his death, HHS Secretary Alex Azar said the 49-year-old former CVSHealth and Pfizer Pharmaceuticals executive agreed to work at HHS “out of a desire to serve the American people by making health care more affordable.”

“He brought his deep expertise and passion to this task with great humility and collegiality,” Azar’s statement said. “All of us who served with Dan at HHS and in the administration mourn his passing and extend our thoughts and prayers to his wife Lisa and the entire Best family at this difficult time.”

Best is survived by his wife, Lisa, and three children.

10 Offbeat Stories You Might Have Missed This Week (11/17/18)

With another week in the history books, it’s time to sit back and review some of the stories that made the news over the last few days. Click here if you want to learn all about the major headlines; otherwise read on for unexpected and outlandish stories.

We investigate a few visitors from space which have come in the form of meteorites and weird, flashing lights. There’s also a new neighboring galaxy we discovered on the outskirts of our Milky Way. Besides that, we also talk about drunk raccoons, cat mummies, a fake band, and Fred Flintstone.

10UFOs Over Ireland

The Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) has been investigating claims of UFOs after multiple pilots reported sightings of strange lights off the coast of County Kerry.

The bizarre occurrences happened last Friday and were evidenced through discussions between airmen and Shannon air traffic control. The first was a pilot from British Airways headed for Heathrow. He contacted air traffic control to inquire if there were any military exercises in the area after seeing a “very bright light” which traveled alongside the plane before veering to the north.[1]

Another pilot from Virgin opined that it could be a meteor. He claimed to have seen “two bright lights” and multiple objects following the same trajectory. A third pilot said that the objects were moving at “astronomical” speeds, reaching Mach 2.

The IAA launched an investigation, but so far, all details are confidential. Experts chimed in and said that the UFOs were, most likely, meteorites that were heated enough to become shooting stars.

9The Red Light District Takes To The Road

A new study published in the journal Annals of Tourism Research suggests that the rise of driverless cars will lead to more people having sex on the road.

Coauthors Scott Cohen and Debbie Hopkins from the University of Surrey and University of Oxford, respectively, believe that sex in automated vehicles is a “natural conclusion.” Once the costs attached to the driver are eliminated, carmakers will begin focusing on improving passenger experience. Interiors will become more spacious and more luxurious. Standard seating will be replaced by massage chairs or even beds.

With this comes the possibility of hotels-by-the hour on wheels. Besides the obvious possibility of couples engaging in hanky-panky on the road, Cohen and Hopkins believe that automated vehicles will also provide new opportunities for prostitution—a “red light district on the move.”[2] While driverless cars will, undoubtedly, be monitored, the two researchers don’t expect this to be an effective hindrance to curb such illicit behavior.

8We’re An American Band?

American band Threatin went on a UK tour and played several gigs throughout cities in England. So far, so mundane, you might say, but there is a catch—Threatin doesn’t seem to exist.

At first glance, everything looked legit. The band had almost 40,000 fans on their Facebook page, while front man Jered Threatin (pictured above) had 16,000 followers on social media. They were signed to Superlative Music Recordings, which also had its own website and social media following. The gigs were secured through StageRight Bookings, and the band had already sold hundreds of advance tickets for all of the UK shows. But a curious thing happened when Threatin played at The Exchange in Bristol—nobody showed up. Things went slightly better at their Birmingham show, where they sold one ticket, and reached their peak when they performed at The Underworld in Camden and three people turned up.[3]

A bit of digging revealed that the record label and the promoter were fake. The Facebook fans were, most likely, bought. Threatin managed to book a string of gigs in the UK based on a fan base that didn’t exist.

All of this appears to have been the work of Jered Threatin. Since the story broke, the band’s Facebook page has been deleted and its social media accounts set to private. Remaining gigs in Northern Ireland have been canceled.

The band’s touring members have since revealed that they had been tricked like everyone else. Eventually, Threatin broke his silence and bragged online about how he “turned an empty room into an international headline.”

7Cat And Beetle Mummies Recovered In Ancient Tomb

Photo credit: Mohamed Abd El Ghany/Reuters

The Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities announced last Saturday that archaeologists explored a 4,500-year-old tomb near Cairo and found, among other things, dozens of mummified cats and two mummified scarab beetles

The cats were discovered alongside 100 gilded wooden feline statues and one bronze statue of Bastet, the goddess who was most commonly depicted as a cat. Egyptologists were more excited by the mummified beetles, as they are a much rarer commodity. The two large specimens are preserved in very good condition and were found wrapped in linen inside sarcophagi decorated with scarab drawings.[4]

The discoveries were made in Saqqara, a vast burial ground that once served as the necropolis for Memphis. Nearby, archaeologists found another tomb with its doors still sealed, raising hopes that it has evaded looters. They plan to open and explore it within the coming weeks.

A few days later, Swartz was asked to don the Flintstone outfit again and...

BLACKLISTED: YouTube “BitChute” Alternative Banned from PayPal

“Go create your own website” has been a common reply to conservatives concerned about Big Tech censorship, but now Leftists can shut them down even when they do that.

Bitchute has marketed itself as the Free Speech alternative to Youtube, but has recently been blacklisted by PayPal. Bitchute founder Ray Vahey announced that PayPal shut down his website’s ability to receive funding through its payment service, effective immediately.

It should be noted that BitChute does have community guidelines about removing content that is truly illegal, violent, or qualifies as a call for violence.

“A few hours ago BitChute received a notice that our PayPal account has been permanently limited, with immediate effect, and that we will no longer be able to accept or send payments,” the statement reads.

NOTE: To Embed a Bitchute into your blog, take the embed code from a youtube video, and replace the youtube part with "src="https://www.bitchute.com/embed/" and then the video id of the bitchute video

This is a bitchute video:

Vahey continued by affirming Bitchute’s importance and their company mission, saying,

“BitChute is pro-free expression which is a universal human right. Furthermore, censorship and deplatforming are poor ways to tackle societal problems as they merely create echo chambers that can lead to bigger problems in the long run. It’s important to platform all ideas, as this exposes them to immediate opposition and allows for a public deconstruction of any flaws they may contain. If you are against bigotry or racism or hateful ideologies, you should be pro-free expression.”

The same people who have opted out of using mainstream tech platforms because of their censorious policies are now realizing that even when free speech advocates create their own platforms, they too can be undermined by payment processors. When a company like PayPal withdraws its service, it can functionally deplatform a website by cutting off its flow of income.

When conservatives have previously voiced their concerns about the deplatforming of various Youtubers, many leftists and libertarians often smugly reply that in a free market, companies have a right to deny service, and that conservatives should build their own platforms. The issues with this line of thinking are twofold: 1) It is extremely difficult to build alternative platforms (consider how Google+ with all of their parent company’s resources and reputation, failed to provide a remotely competitive alternative to Facebook) and 2) Payment processors that keep platforms up and running can deny their services with no repercussions.

Even the liberal nonprofit Electronic Frontier Foundation has expressed concern that payment processors withdrawing their service are acting as...

Sharia law book preaching jihad and hostage taking discovered in Australia airport Islamic prayer room

  • Muslim imam Sheikh Mohammad Tawhidi found Sharia law books in prayer room
  • The Arabic language text at Melbourne airport advocated jihad, hostage taking
  • The Adelaide-based Shia imam was concerned book could radicalise traveller
A Muslim imam has discovered a Sharia law book advocating jihad and hostage taking in Melbourne international airport’s Islamic prayer room.

Sheikh Mohammad Tawhidi, a Shia imam who campaigns against Islamic extremism, saw the Arabic language book shortly before boarding a flight.

The Adelaide-based Shia religious leader and author made a video of himself flicking through the index, which featured references to jihad, ‘taking hostages at war’ and taxing ‘infidel’ non-Muslims.

A Muslim imam has discovered a Sharia law book (pictured) advocating jihad and hostage taking in Melbourne international airport’s Islamic prayer room

Shortly before boarding his flight, he told Daily Mail Australia a fundamentalist Sunni Islamic law book had the potential to ‘certainly radicalise someone’.

‘It can turn a regular traveller or a frustrated, vulnerable traveller into an extremist,’ he said, shortly after midday on Thursday. ‘It goes against national security.’

Sheikh Tawhidi said that while the book of Islamic jurisprudence was possibly planted by an activist, Melbourne airport needed to ‘take action’.

Several hours later, Melbourne Airport tweeted to Sheikh Tawhidi to confirm they had removed the Arabic language book, Fiqh us-Sunnah, by Egyptian Sunni Islamic scholar As-Sayyid Sabiq.

‘Thanks for your message. We have a publicly accessible multi-faith prayer room open to travellers of various religions,’ it said.

‘The book has been removed for assessment of its suitability.’

The book about the practices of the Prophet Mohammad was authored by a prominent member of the Muslim Brotherhood, a pan-Sunni Islamist group campaigning for a global...

Cops: McDonald's Worker Charged In BACON Attack

NOVEMBER 15--A McDonald’s cook tried to “shove hot crispy bacon” in the face of her manager during a confrontation Friday that resulted in an assault and battery charge being filed against the worker, according to a police report.

Cops say that the fast food employees faced off at a McDonald’s in Bluffton, South Carolina after manager Tequila Cohen, 33, asked cook Josefina Jimenez to stop eating bacon while she was working in the kitchen.

When Jimenez continued consuming the pork delicacy, Cohen (seen at right) lodged a complaint with her boss, the eatery’s general manager.

As detailed in a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office report, Jimenez became angry when Cohen escalated the November 9 bacon beef. The employee allegedly “backed [Cohen] into the corner” and tried to force-feed her “hot crispy bacon.”

Investigators charge that when Cohen sought to push away from Jimenez, the employee--still “grasping the bacon”--struck Cohen in the face. Jimenez also allegedly tossed “a cup of an unknown substance” at Cohen. After the women were separated by a third McDonald’s employee, Cohen called 911.

A police review of surveillance footage supported Cohen’s account of the confrontation, the sheriff’s report notes. Jimenez had left the McDonald’s by the time deputies arrived at the restaurant, which is about 20 miles from Savannah, Georgia (where Jimenez lives, according to the report).

Presented with the sheriff’s account of the incident, a judge issued an arrest warrant charging Jimenez with assault and battery. Beaufort County jail records indicate that Jimenez has...
