Election 2020: The willfully ignorant have topped themselves

I recall watching the White House’s unedited version of President Trump’s 60 Minutes interview with Lesley Stahl, not the CBS version, and being shocked at her reaction to the president’s mention of the Obama administration spying on his campaign. “This is 60 Minutes, and we can't put on things that we can't verify,” Stahl said. She said several other current huge issues also couldn’t be verified. I asked myself ‘Where has she been? How could she not know these are all true?’ Then I got it . . . she only reads or watches CBS news sources. Her view of reality is totally distorted by the bias within her own news organization. She is willfully ignorant.

Imagine if Lesley Stahl asked any public figure a question which granted a fact in the question that CBS had never put out in any way as true. That could be a problem. Does that mean CBS doesn’t want their television personalities to read any other news sources, lest an unintentional counter bias develop? What a job it must be to keep up with what is allowed to be true, and what cannot be verified!

Willful ignorance is quite the rage these days. The evidence is out there for anyone willing to look for it, and if you need help, five-time Emmy award-winning former CBS investigative reporter Sharyl Attkisson has many links here. But Democrats don’t want to look, I suppose for fear of a counter bias developing. How could it not? Literally every instance of a voting anomaly, every accusation of cheating, every case of voter fraud – every one benefits Joe Biden. That means in each and every occurrence, it hurts President Trump. Can we call that a trend? Do we see a pattern here?
Of course, we do. The Republicans know it, and the Democrats know it, too.

So how then could anyone call for the president to concede because his accusations are baseless conspiracy theories for which there is no evidence? Willful ignorance. Either real or fake, in either case, it’s still ignorance. I’m not a mathematician, statistician, or computer programmer, and I understand the explanations of the impossible numbers. To understand enough to develop a counter bias, just read this. If you’re a real numbers person, read this. If you want to just be convinced now, this will do it.

Reports were rampant immediately after the election about poll watchers in multiple states being forbidden to observe the processing of ballots. Here’s one, and here’s another still occurring in a recount. I’m not a lawyer, either, but I understand the Constitution says “The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in...

Biden’s Gun Control Agenda Won’t Collect the Billions He Thinks Because Americans Will Not Comply

As we’ve written here countless times in the run-up to the election, Slow Joe’s Everytown/Giffords-produced gun control platform was the most radical anti-gun rights agenda in the history of American politics. One of its primary features was a combination of a ban on the manufacture and sale of new civilian “assault weapons,” a buyback of currently owned guns, and NFA regulation and taxation of scary black rifles and “high capacity” magazines for those who elect to keep their property.

As the Washington Free Beacon’s Stephen Gutowski wrote earlier this week, that kind of crushing regulatory burden would cost gun owners about $34 billion…if Americans decided to comply with it.

But that wouldn’t happen. The federal government would get neither the guns nor the money nor the personal information of every assault-weapon owner. It would only get to choose between ignoring widespread resistance and going out hunting for civilians who’d kept unregistered guns, hoping not to end up with another Waco or Ruby Ridge.

Think I’m being melodramatic? Take a quick tour through some recent gun-control efforts that required enforcing the law against everyday civilians, and not just businesses that traffic in firearms.

In 2013, Connecticut tried to force the registration of assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. The government estimated there were almost 400,000 of the former and 2 million of the latter in the state, but the following year, the number of registrations totaled only about 50,000 and 40,000 respectively.

Laws requiring background checks on private sales of used guns have fared little better. One study looked at laws in Washington State, Colorado, and Delaware, and found that in the first two of those states, the background-check law didn’t even increase background checks.

In Washington, there was a well-documented public “I will not comply” rally at the state capital, at which firearms were openly transferred between private parties without background checks. There were also gun shows where non-compliance was encouraged and public calls from profirearm organisations to not comply with the state’s new CBC [comprehensive-background-check] policy. . . .

Many county law enforcement officials in Colorado reportedly stated they...

Happy Thanksgiving!

May everyone enjoy Thanksgiving this year with someone they love.

Ilya Somin of the Volokh Conspiracy, a blog hosted by the Washington Post, revisits the story of the Pilgrims at Plymouth and how instituting private property rights saved the community from ruin.

There is much to be thankful for on Thanksgiving. One lesson of the holiday that we should try not to forget is how the Pilgrims were saved from starvation and misery by private property rights. Economist Benjamin Powell summarizes the story here:
Many people believe that after suffering through a severe winter, the Pilgrims’ food shortages were resolved the following spring when the Native Americans taught them to plant corn and a Thanksgiving celebration resulted. In fact, the pilgrims continued to face chronic food shortages for three years until the harvest of 1623. Bad weather or lack of farming knowledge did not cause the pilgrims’ shortages. Bad economic incentives did.

In 1620 Plymouth Plantation was founded with a system of communal property rights. Food and supplies were held in common and then distributed based on equality and need as determined by Plantation officials. People received the same rations whether or not they contributed to producing the food, and residents were forbidden from producing their own food. Governor William Bradford, in his 1647 history, Of Plymouth Plantation, wrote that this system was found to breed much confusion and discontent and retard much employment that would have been to their benefit and comfort. The problem was that “young men, that were most able and fit for labour, did repine that they should spend their time and strength to work for other men’s wives and children without any recompense.” Because of the poor incentives, little food was produced.

Faced with potential starvation in the ...

Here’s Why We Should Still Celebrate the Pilgrims at Thanksgiving

For most American families, Thanksgiving is a time to gather with loved ones, eat delicious food, and perhaps watch some football watch some mixed martial arts.

But not everyone is pleased with the celebration of this holiday, and some have taken to maligning its “originators,” the Pilgrims.

An editorial in Al Jazeera labeled Thanksgiving a “thoroughly nauseating affair,” one that is “saturated with disgrace.” Other articles have called the Pilgrims genocidal toward Native Americans, or argued that the original idea of a Thanksgiving feast is a “myth.”

“Debunking” the nature and origin of Thanksgiving seems to be turning into its own cottage industry.

But the Pilgrim Thanksgiving story is based on real events. The small band of religious dissenters who crossed an ocean to a dangerous new world have, rightly, been given special prominence in the origin story of the United States.

A year after the Pilgrims landed in what is now Massachusetts, Gov. William Bradford called for a day of thanksgiving. As historian Rod Gragg noted:

The Pilgrims were not the first Europeans to hold a thanksgiving event in the New World—although they appear to have been the first to do so in New England … It was the Pilgrims of Plymouth, however, who would be credited with establishing America’s distinctive Thanksgiving holiday—thanks to a joyful observance sometime in the autumn of 1621.
The Pilgrims gathered for a three-day feast with about 90 local Wampanoag Indians to celebrate a bountiful harvest following a year of toil (over half of the Pilgrims had died since they set out for America in 1620).

Though the food on the menu excluded modern items like pumpkin pie and cranberry sauce, those who gathered for that Thanksgiving likely ate wild turkey, among other foods common in the area like venison and shellfish.

While later conflicts would ensue between the Pilgrims’ descendants and the descendants of the Indians who feasted with them, the initial contact between the cultures was...

Japanese Foreign Minister Announces Plan to “Transform Japan Into a Diverse Multiethnic Society”

Says he wants to give foreign residents the right to vote.

The Japanese foreign minister has announced a plan to “transform Japan into a diversified multiethnic society” by encouraging mass immigration and giving foreign residents the right to vote.

Toshimitsu Motegi is a politician for the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and has served as the country’s Minister for Foreign Affairs since September 2019.

During a Q and A session, Motegi said his “national vision” meant “transforming Japan in the 21st century into a “diversified multiethnic society” by way of mass immigration from all over the world.

This would also be achieved by codifying English as the country’s second language and giving “suffrage to resident foreigners.”

Japan is 98.1 per cent ethnically Japanese, with the next most populous ethnicity being Chinese at just 0.5 per cent.

The country has an extremely low crime rate and terrorism is very rare. Back in 2017, at the height of the refugee crisis, it was revealed that Japan had refused 99% of refugees, having accepted just 28 in 2016.

Back in 2018, leftists in the U.S. began demanding that Japan embrace multiculturalism because a half-Japanese tennis player with a Haitian-American father won the US Open.

In an article entitled Japan Needs ‘Foreigner Blood’ Like Naomi Osaka’s, the Daily Beast’s Jake Adelstein acknowledged that limited immigration, ethnically homogenous Japan has a low crime rate and that shootings remain in the single digits every year, but claimed this is due to...

Obama: It’s Impossible to Have a Democracy if People Disagree With You

The socialist marketplace of ideas has nothing in it.

Obama is busy shilling for his book, A Promised Land, for which the American imprint of a subsidiary of a German publishing giant with a Nazi past, is paying him a fortune. And that means sitting down with his favorite shill, The Atlantic’s editor Jeffrey Goldberg, whose book was published by the same giant, for some pseudo-intellectual preening at America’s expense.

As usual, he has deep thoughts about why everyone who disagrees with him needs to shut up.

"The First Amendment doesn’t require private companies to provide a platform for any view that is out there. At the end of the day, we’re going to have to find a combination of government regulations and corporate practices that address this," Obama fussily declaims.

The corporate practices by Big Tech companies that shut down Biden scandals are already in place. Government regulations to get rid of free speech are new, but not new for Obama.

Obama had become infamous for having the producer of The Innocence of Muslims thrown into prison after the disaster in Benghazi. “We’re going to have that person arrested and prosecuted that did the video,” Hillary Clinton would tell the father of one of the men killed there, as if a YouTube video had killed Americans and then dragged their bodies through the streets of Libya.

Obama's DOJ seized phone records from reporters, dug through their emails, and followed them around. But the whole point of Big Tech censorship is that Democrats avoid pesky constitutional issues by outsourcing the censorship to huge corporate monopolies. The practice of calling in CEOs to the Senate to berate them about insufficient censorship should raise some constitutional questions about an oligarchy colluding to suppress political speech.

But it hasn’t yet.

What would Obama's speech police look like? He has nothing to say about that, just more deep thoughts about how impossible it is to have a democracy if people keep disagreeing with you.

"If we do not have the capacity to distinguish what’s true from what’s false, then by definition the marketplace of ideas doesn’t work. And by definition our democracy doesn’t work," he fumes.

But the whole point of a “marketplace of ideas” is that people decide that for themselves. If people don’t decide for themselves, there’s no marketplace of ideas, and no democracy. And in a democracy and a marketplace of ideas, people will disagree about what’s true or what isn’t.

If the government decides for people what’s true or false, then there’s no marketplace. Or rather there’s just the Soviet supermarket where there’s one option and you had better...

Publishing Company Employees Cry - LITERALLY- Over New Jordan Peterson Book

In a year where one terrible thing has happened after another, the employees of a Canadian book publishing company has found the latest liberal nightmare: a new book by Jordan Peterson. Apparently, these employees were even reduced to tears when arguing against the book’s release.

On Monday, November 23, Canada’s largest book publishing company, Penguin Random House Canada, announced that it will be publishing the book Beyond Order: 12 More Rules for Life by Jordan Peterson. While the book itself isn’t due out until March 2021, some people found plenty enough to be upset over right now.

In a town hall following the announcement, Penguin Random House Canada employees confronted their executives over the decision to publish a book they deemed to be too “controversial.” Reports from the town hall remark how the employees actually cried while discussing their views of Peterson.

According to Vice News, a junior employee and member of the LGBTQ community disparaged Peterson, stating that “[h]e is an icon of hate speech and transphobia and the fact that he’s an icon of white supremacy, regardless of the content of his book, I’m not proud to work for a company that publishes him.”

Another employee said “people were crying in the meeting about how Jordan Peterson has affected their lives.” They said one co-worker discussed how Peterson had radicalized their father and another talked about how publishing the book will negatively affect their non-binary friend.

“The company since June has been doing all these anti-racist and allyship things and them publishing Peterson’s book completely goes against this. It just makes all of their previous efforts seem completely performative,” the employee added.

At least 70 anonymous messages regarding the book were sent to the company’s diversity and inclusion committee, with only a few in favor of the book’s release.

Employees told Vice News, "if the book isn’t cancelled, they would like Penguin Random House Canada to consider donating the profits from the book to LGBTQ organizations."

Although the company has not dropped the book - yet - a statement from Penguin Random House has confirmed that they are “open” to hearing employee feedback:

Biden Taps Staffer Who Said Suicide Bombings Were ‘Last Resort’ for Palestinians

The latest senior staffer tapped by President-elect Joe Biden (D.) has defended Palestinian suicide bombings as "the last resort of a desperate people."

Biden on Monday tapped Reema Dodin to serve as the deputy director for the Office of Legislative Affairs. The Jewish News Syndicate reported Tuesday that Dodin gave a presentation on the Second Intifada—a violent Palestinian uprising against the Israeli government in the early 2000s—while a student at the University of California, Berkeley, in 2002.

During the talk, Dodin claimed that the Israeli government had left Palestinians hopeless.

"The suicide bombers were the last resort of a desperate people," she said.

Dodin has worked on Capitol Hill for Sen. Dick Durbin (D., Ill.) since 2011, currently serving as his deputy chief of staff. According to USA Today, Dodin has volunteered on multiple campaigns, including that of former president Barack Obama.

Obama New Memoir Reveals He Read Marx As ‘Strategy For Picking Up Girls’

Former President Barack Obama in his new memoir “A Promised Land” admitted reading Karl Marx amongst other radical political philosophers influenced by the German socialist revolutionary during his college years as a “strategy for picking up girls.”

“My interest in books probably explains why I not only survived high school but arrived at Occidental College in 1979 with a thin but passable knowledge of political issues and a series of half-baked opinions that I’d toss out during late-night bull sessions in the dorm,” Obama recalled in Chapter One of his first of two volumes presidential memoir book that was released last Tuesday.

“Looking back, it’s embarrassing to recognize the degree to which my intellectual curiosity those first two years of college paralleled the interests of various women I was attempting to get to know: Marx and Marcuse so I had something to say to the long-legged socialist who lived in my dorm; Fanon and Gwendolyn Brooks for the smooth-skinned sociology major who never gave me a second look; Foucault and Woolf for the ethereal bisexual who wore mostly black. As a strategy for picking up girls, my pseudo-intellectualism proved mostly worthless; I found myself in a series of affectionate but chaste friendships,” Obama added.

‘Deceitful Campaign Tactics to Manipulate Voters’: Democrats Aim to Create, Exploit Divisions Among GOP in Georgia Runoffs

Democrats from outside Georgia are actively engaged in an effort to create divisions among Republicans in the state.

The Democrats then intend to exploit those divisions to try to drive down turnout among President Donald Trump’s supporters in the runoff for the two U.S. Senate seats that will decide which party controls the upper chamber of Congress next year. Republicans, meanwhile, are pushing back on these efforts, calling them “deceitful campaign tactics” designed to “manipulate voters” in Georgia.

Really American PAC, a leftwing Super PAC that ran scores of attack ads against President Trump in the general election in 2020, is now crowdfunding on social media to fund billboards in Trump-supporter-heavy areas of Georgia to split Trump supporters from Sens. Kelly Loeffler (R-GA) and David Perdue (R-GA). Both GOP senators are headed to Jan. 5 runoffs in the state that will determine which party controls the U.S. Senate next year. As of now, next year Republicans will have 50 seats in the U.S. Senate and Democrats will have 48. These two seats will determine which party controls the Senate, and if the Democrats take both of them—and Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden is successful in challenges from President Donald Trump to election results that currently have Biden leading Trump—then the Democrats would gain control of the chamber as the would-be Vice President Kamala Harris, now a Democrat senator from California, would be the tie-breaking vote.

As Trump is challenging the election results in Georgia and other states around the country, the Democrats are now trying to imply that Loeffler and Perdue have been insufficiently loyal to the president.

The billboards Really American PAC is seeking to post around Georgia explicitly state this in text that appears alongside images of Loeffler and Perdue: “Georgia Republicans Didn’t Fight For Trump. We Won’t Fight For Them.”

This revelation that key figures in the Democrat Party—who stand to benefit politically from a Democrat-controlled U.S. Senate if their candidates Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock defeat Perdue and Loeffler respectively—are behind these attempts to create such divisions comes as no surprise to Trump supporters, who are acutely aware that the president’s supporters are firmly behind...

Joe Biden’s Tax Agenda Could Cost Gun Owners $34 Billion

Joe Biden’s gun tax proposals could cost gun owners upwards of $34 billion for guns and magazines they already possess.

Breitbart News reported that Biden’s proposals include a $200 tax for each AR-15 that is already owned, and that tax would also apply to other firearms Democrats label “assault weapons.”

Biden also wants to tax gun owners $200 for every “high capacity” magazine they own.

On November 17, 2020, Breitbart News reported National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) numbers showing that Americans own an estimated 434 million firearms. Nearly 20 million of those firearms are Modern Sporting Rifles, firearms that the Democrats categorizes as “assault weapons.”

Under Biden’s plan, the tax for the nearly 20 million Modern Sporting Rifles alone could be $4 billion.

The NSSF numbers also show that Americans own more than 71 million pistol magazines capable of holding more than ten rounds and “79.2 million rifle magazines capable of holding 30 or more rounds.”

Taking that as a rounded figure of 150 million magazines, the tax on those could be...

New Senate findings 'confirm the connections' between Biden family and Chinese, Russian governments

The top Republican senators—who spearhead the investigations into Hunter Biden's overseas business dealings—have released "supplemental" findings that "confirm the connections" between the Biden family and Communist China "as well as the links" to the Russian government.

Senate Committee on Finance Chair Chuck Grassley and Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Chair Ron Johnson published the majority staff report Wednesday to add to their Sept. 23 research, entitled, "Hunter Biden, Burisma and Corruption: The Impact on U.S. Government Policy and Related Concerns."

The update discloses new evidence of ties between the Democratic presidential nominee's son and Biden business partner Rob Walker who "appears to have been associated with at least three companies connected to Hunter Biden: Oldaker, Biden and Belair LLP; Seneca Global Advisors; and Rosemont Seneca Advisors."

Grassley and Johnson cite intel provided to their committees by high-profile whistleblower Tony Bobulinski. WhatsApp exchanges "demonstrate a close working relationship between Walker and the Biden family." On May 22, 2017, Walker provided Jim Biden’s contact information via WhatsApp message to Bobulinski for "inclusion in a corporate agreement."WhatsApp messages between Walker and Bobulinski dated May 22, 2017

"The new information is consistent with other records within the Committees' possession which show millions of dollars being transferred from a Chinese entity linked to the communist party to Robinson Walker LLC," the senators charged before detailing the transactions.

Walker is the owner of Robinson Walker LLC—a single person entity incorporated in Delaware—he confirmed to Bobulinski in a WhatsApp message dated May 21, 2017.WhatsApp messages between Walker and Bobulinski dated May 21, 2017

Robinson Walker LLC received $6,000,000 in wire transfers from a CEFC China Energy-affiliated company in 2017. "These transactions are a direct link between Walker and the communist Chinese government," the senators fired.

According to records on file with the committees, on February 23, 2017, and March 1, 2017, a Shanghai-based company called State Energy HK Limited sent two wires, each in the amount of $3,000,000, to...

Mysterious Metal Monolith Discovered in Remote Area of Utah Desert

“The strangest thing that I’ve come across.”

As if 2020 couldn’t get any more bizarre, a mysterious Space Odyssey-style metal monolith has been discovered in a remote area of the Utah desert.

While state workers were counting bighorn sheep from a helicopter, they spotted something out of place – a 12 feet tall metal monolith that had been installed in a secluded area of rock.

The Utah Department of Public Safety said the object was found in a “very remote” area of the desert, deliberately withholding its location to prevent people from attempting to visit.

“It is illegal to install structures or art without authorization on federally managed public lands, no matter what planet you’re from,” said the department’s statement.

“That’s been about the strangest thing that I’ve come across out there in all my years of flying,” helicopter pilot Bret Hutchings told Salt Lake City broadcaster KSL-TV.

“One of the biologists is the one who spotted it and we just happened to fly directly over the top of it,” Hutchings added. “He was like, ‘Whoa, whoa, whoa, turn around, turn around!’ And I was like, ‘What.’ And he’s like, ‘There’s this thing back there — we’ve got to go look at it!’ We were thinking, is this something....
