Majority of guns used by criminals bought on black market, study shows

As the gun control debate continues to rage, a survey released this month by the Department of Justice (DOJ) showed that armed criminals' primary source for guns is, by far, the black market.

Based on the 2016 Survey of Prison Inmates (SPI), about 1 in 5 – 21 percent – of all state and federal prisoners reported they had “possessed or carried a firearm when they committed the offense for which they were serving time in prison.”

According to the study, an estimated 287,400 prisoners has possessed a firearm during their offense. The findings concluded 56 percent had either stolen the weapon, 6 percent found it at the crime scene and 7 percent obtained it off the street or on the black market. More than 25 percent had received it from a family member or friend.

About 1.3 percent of all prisoners obtained a gun from a retail source and used it during their offense, the study stated. Moreover, among the prisoners who possessed a firearm during their offense “0.8 percent obtained it at a gun show.”

Overall, handguns were the most common type of firearm possessed by prisoners, and about 1 in 5 state and federal prisoners who possessed a firearm during their offense obtained it with the intent to...

Judge demolishes leftist theory that climate change is to blame for deadly California wildfires

As massive wildfires ravaged dense areas of California last autumn, progressives and liberals alike placed blame for the tragedy on climate change.

National Geographic said: "Climate change is making California's fires bigger."

The Los Angeles Times declared: "Bigger wildfires. Worsening droughts. More disease. How Climate change is battering California."

The Washington Post dedicated an entire story to debunking claims made by President Donald Trump in which he blamed "forest mismanagement" for the deadly fires. That's false, the Post declared, identifying climate change as the fire antagonist.

But a California judge vehemently disagrees — and on Friday, he issued a ruling explaining why climate change is not to blame.
What did the judge say?

U.S. District Court Judge William Alsup ruled last Thursday that California utility company Pacific Gas and Electric was "the single most recurring cause" that contributed to devastating wildfires that

burned millions of acres and led to the deaths of dozens of California residents.
According to NBC News, Alsup wrote in a scathing opinion:

The Court tentatively finds that the single most recurring cause of the large 2017 and 2018 wildfires attributable to PG&E's equipment has been the susceptibility of PG&E's distribution lines to trees or limbs falling onto them during high-wind events.

The power conductors are almost always uninsulated. When the conductors are pushed together by falling trees or limbs, electrical sparks drop into the vegetation below. During the wildfire season when the vegetation is dry, these electrical sparks pose an extreme danger of igniting a wildfire.

Scott McLean, deputy chief of communication for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, told NBC the state determined PG&E was liable for 12 of 17 wildfires during the 2017 season, but has yet to rule on...

Here’s Why President Donald Trump Thanked Actor James Woods

On his popular Twitter account, the conservative star called out Dems for their refusal to compromise on border wall funding

James Woods is one of President Donald Trump’s few outspoken supporters in the Hollywood community.

The two-time Academy Award winner often goes to the mat for the president as well as conservative principles on his Twitter account, which sports over 1.9 million followers.

That outspokenness has come at a cost.

Woods’ acting career has slowed and the “Casino” and “Videodrome” star says he believes many people within the industry began blacklisting him after he publicly criticized former President Barack Obama.

Now, on Sunday night, Trump himself thanked Woods for his support.

Responding to a story about Trump’s recent compromise offer on the partial government shutdown and funding for the border wall between the United States and Mexico, Woods wrote, “Well played, Mr. President. You keep trying to make a deal and the Democrats would rather frolic on the beach. Both your speech and your proposal today were eminently presidential. Thank you for your efforts to protect our nation and our Constitution.”

The president took the compliment to heart.

He tweeted back, “Thanks James!”

MSNBC, CNN Go From ‘Bombshell’ to ‘Frustrated’ After Mueller Disputes BuzzFeed Report

MSNBC and CNN reported extensively on a "bombshell" report from BuzzFeed News that President Donald Trump directed his attorney Michael Cohen to lie to Congress, before shifting gears to a more defensive tone following the report's disputing by special counsel Robert Mueller's office.

BuzzFeed‘s report Thursday night implicated Trump in a federal crime, but Mueller's office released a statement the following day saying "BuzzFeed's description of specific statements to the Special Counsel's Office, and characterization of documents and testimony obtained by this office, regarding Michael Cohen's Congressional testimony are not accurate."

BuzzFeed is standing by its report in the meantime.

While the cable channels' anchors and analysts took care to say the report was possibly damning "if true" throughout the day on Friday, there was still rampant speculation about potential impeachment, proof of obstruction of justice, and the possible end of the Trump presidency.

After Mueller's office disputed the report as "not accurate" Friday evening, the conversation shifted, with some saying the report should have been treated more skeptically all along, while others expressed frustration with Mueller's office for not saying what specifically about the piece was incorrect.

CNN's Chris Cuomo sniffed that Mueller "didn't do the media any favors tonight" but had done one for the White House. While CNN's Jeffrey Toobin fretted the news media looked bad in its coverage, "Reliable Sources" host Brian Stelter cautioned against letting the media be defined to the public by politicians as crooks, or as Toobin put it, "leftist liars."

MSNBC's Chris Matthews and Jonathan Capehart said Mueller's office didn't necessarily mean the...
