Today's Anticapitalists Are Closer to Fascism Than They Think

On the back of the economic crisis brought about by the covid-19 pandemics, we are witnessing—once more—so-called economists, historians, and pundits attempting to proclaim the failure of capitalism. Their criticisms of the capitalistic organization of human cooperation and coexistence are various, but there are three strains of ideological attack against capitalism which seem to me to occur more often than others.

There is an element about anticapitalism that is often neglected: even though anticapitalism is usually associated with socialism and leftist movements, we can find the very same anticapitalistic mentality in the fascist ideology. As Thomas DiLorenzo pointed out in his latest Mises U lecture on the topic, fascism is just a particular kind of socialism—just like communism itself is. Hence, the fact that fascists and communists share the same contempt for capitalism should not surprise anyone.

The best way to understand the anticapitalistic mentality of fascism—and how close the arguments of contemporary anticapitalists are to those of Benito Mussolini—is to read Mussolini’s 1932 essay titled "The Doctrine of Fascism," written together with Giovanni Gentile (the acknowledged philosophical ideologue of fascism).

The attack Gentile and Mussolini carry out against capitalism is (at least) threefold, and its underlying rhetoric is no different from the one of contemporary anticapitalistic and allegedly antifascist movements. First, Gentile and Mussolini advocate a greater role for government in the economy. Second, they condemn both methodological and political individualism, asserting the importance of collectivism and collective identities. Feckless Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler Admits ANTIFA Rioters Aren’t “Peaceful Protestors” As Mayhem Continues

Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler finally admitted that the ANTIFA criminals responsible for street violence in Portland over the past three months are not “peaceful protestors” on Thursday, condemning the militants in the strongest terms yet. Wheeler had previously been a staunch apologist for the street criminals.

“This is not peaceful protest… This is not advocacy to advance reforms or transform any system.”

Wheeler’s remarks in the Thursday press conference come a night after an ANTIFA mob attempted to set fire to a Portland Police Bureau building in South Portland, while many people were inside the structure. The mob of leftist miscreants has swiftly moved on to Portland police buildings.

In a surprise to no one, criminal activity and dangerous left-wing street riots have continued after the City of Portland finally accepted responsibility for its obligation to secure the Hatfield Federal Courthouse from ANTIFA militancy and political violence. Reopening Gay Bathhouses Will Aid 'Economic And Cultural Recovery,' San Francisco Supervisor Says

San Francisco District 8 Supervisor Rafael Mandelman says gay bathhouses need to be reopened ASAP so they can aid the city's "economic and cultural recovery" and his fellow board of supervisors have already unanimously approved an ordinance to help make it happen.

From SF Weekly, "Restrictions Relaxed For Gay Bathhouses, Sex Venues":

Gay bathhouses could have an easier time returning to San Francisco, after the board of supervisors approved an ordinance that would ease restrictions for adult sex venues on July 21 with a unaminous vote.

This will amend the Heath Code, requiring the Director of Health to "adopt minimum health and safety standards" for commercial adult sex venues. It will also remove decades-old policies that required these businesses to monitor sexual activities and prohibited private rooms and locked doors.

These regulations were put in place in 1984, when the AIDS crisis was devastating gay communities in San Francisco. They specifically targeted sex clubs and gay bathhouses, and while sex clubs eventually reopened in the city after shuttering their doors, gay bathhouses never did, according to the Bay Area Reporter.

That could change after the COVID-19 pandemic is over (this new ruling will not affect the city's reopening timeline). The ordinance, led by Supervisor Rafael Mandelman, will help "decriminalize sexuality" according to a press release by the San Francisco AIDS Foundation.

[...] "What this ordinance will do is allow for adult sex venues to be apart of our economic and cultural recovery when it is safe to do so," Mandelman said in a July 9 meeting. "During the '70s and early '80s, bathhouses were a focal point of gay social life in San Francisco, and were important community meeting places for friends to gather to share stories, dance to the latest disco hits, or watch a live show."

New Twist in Fox News Case Involving Seth Rich

Just over four years ago, in the heat of the 2016 election season, DNC staffer Seth Rich was murdered on the streets of Washington, DC. His murder remains unsolved. At the heart of the case lies one crucial mystery: Did Seth Rich supply Wikileaks with the DNC emails that were published shortly after his murder?

Uh-oh. Al’s got his tinfoil hat on. How dare we speak of this right-wing conspiracy theory? Everyone knows Russia hacked the emails. And even Fox News retracted it’s story.

Well, put aside your talking points. The judge in the Rich family lawsuit against Fox News is now insisting Wikileaks founder Julian Assange provide some answers.

First, the backstory.

Assange is the One Who Connected Rich to WikiLeaks

Fox News wasn’t the first to connected Rich with Wikileaks. It wasn’t “right-wing conspiracy theorists.” In fact, it wasn’t even Bernie Sanders supporters miffed at discovering from the DNC leaks just how far the party had gone to railroad Bernie’s candidacy. It was Wikileaks founder Julian Assange.

In an interview with Dutch TV, Assange spoke of the danger of being a WikiLeaks source, and how “a 27-year-old who works for the DNC was shot in the back, murdered.” He doubled down in an interview with Megyn Kelly. WikiLeaks then put out a $20,000 reward for information leading to Seth Rich’s killer or killers. The reward was later raised to$130,000. Assange has never directly said Rich was the source. But he has insisted since the DNC emails were published that he did not get them from Russia.

Assange associate Craig Murray backs up Assange’s claim, says he was handed the files in wooded area by American University in DC by “disgusted” Democrat.

Also, a reporter named Ellen Ratner met with Assange for three hours days before the 2016 election. She recalled in an interview you can see on YouTube that Assange told her the Russians had no involvement. The emails came from an internal source in the Hillary campaign. (Keep in mind, Rich worked for DNC, but had just been offered a gig with the Hillary campaign. Not incidentally, Radner’s brother was Assange’s lawyer.)
