Ninety miles from the South Eastern tip of the United States, Liberty has no stead. In order for Liberty to exist and thrive, Tyranny must be identified, recognized, confronted and extinguished.

Should We Baker Act All Liberals?
The Baker Act is a law in Florida that allows mentally ill people to be committed to a mental health facility for 72 hours, against the will of the mentally ill person. It is commonly used as a verb. As far as I know, it is often used on people who are dangerous to themselves, for example, if they are hurting themselves intentionally, or on people who become violent and try to hurt others.
Here's what Wikipedia says:
Involuntary commitment under the Baker Act requires that a judge, police officer, or doctor find that a person is mentally ill enough to require an involuntary medical exam. Those persons deemed by court to be a danger to themselves and others around them may be involuntarily committed.
Within 72 hours of examination, the person may be released or may consent to further inpatient treatment. If not, the facility that conducted the exam must file an involuntary commitment petition that must be heard by a court within five days.

I knew a girl who got Baker Acted after she wouldn't stop cutting herself.

China's Military Budget Skyrockets As China Moves To Fill The Vacuum Of World Leadership
Stemming from the incompetent Obama Administration.
WASHINGTON — China’s military budget rose to more than $145 billion last year, as the country continues to build more advanced weapons that could target U.S. forces, the Pentagon said in its annual report to Congress on security developments involving China.
The unclassified version of the report, released Thursday, noted that China’s official defense budget rose 5.7 percent to $119.5 billion last year. But once defense-related spending that isn’t part of the official military budget is taken into account, the Pentagon estimates that the actual amount is north of $145 billion.
“China has the fiscal strength and political will to support defense spending growth at comparable levels for the foreseeable future,” the report states.
In comparison, the Pentagon’s base budget in Fiscal 2013 was $496 billion. However, once you factor in defense-related spending on things such as the war in Afghanistan, nuclear weapons-related activities conducted by the Department of Energy, and the Department of Homeland Security, that number climbs to well over $600 billion.
Much of the report echoed what was stated in last year’s China assessment. Highlights include:

Much of the report echoed what was stated in last year’s China assessment. Highlights include:
- Preparing for potential conflict in the Taiwan Strait remains “the focus and primary driver of China’s military modernization program,” but steadily increasing tensions in the East China and South China Seas, along with growing interests and influence abroad, have caused “a substantial uptick in the PLA’s preparations for a range of missions beyond China’s immediate periphery.”
- The People’s Liberation Army is investing heavily in its ground force, emphasizing the ability to deploy campaign-level forces across long distances quickly. It is also developing a more rapid, flexible special operations force equipped with advanced technology.
- The PLA Air Force is “pursuing modernization on a scale unprecedented in its history and is rapidly closing the gap with Western air forces across a broad spectrum of capabilities.” China’s first fifth-generation fighter, the multi-role J-20, could enter service as early as 2018.
- The PLA Navy will likely build multiple aircraft carriers over the next 15 years. The first Chinese-built carrier will likely be operational sometime at the beginning of the next decade.
- The Chinese government and its military continue to target U.S. computer systems for intrusions focused on stealing information.
- U.S. bases on Okinawa are in range of a growing number of Chinese medium range ballistic missiles, and Guam could be reached by air-launched cruise missiles. Chinese missiles have also become far more accurate and are now better suited to strike regional air bases, logistics facilities and other infrastructure.
- As part of its planning for military contingencies, China continues to develop measures to deter or counter intervention by the U.S. by developing the capability to conduct long-range attacks against military forces that might deploy to or operate in the western Pacific.
- In the coming years, instability on the Korean Peninsula could produce a regional crisis involving China’s military.

How To Make A Solar Bottle Bulb
To shed a little light in a garage or a homemade fort consider creating a DIY solar bottle bulb. This bulb should not be used inside a permanent structure as it can cause permanent damage to the roof as well as invite outdoor elements into the home. However, for adding light to a temporary structure or a playhouse for kids, a solar bottle bulb can be easily fashioned.

Thousands Gather In Hong Kong For Candlelight Vigil To Honor Tiananmen Square Massacre
Tens of thousands of Hong Kong residents will gather at Victoria Park on Wednesday, as they do every June 4, for a candlelight vigil to honor those killed in 1989 at Tiananmen Square. It’s an annual ritual of defiance against Beijing, and this year the crowds will be larger and more militant than ever. It’s not just that this year marks the 25th anniversary of the Tiananmen crackdown. It’s the future that has Hong Kong on edge.
Human Carbon Dioxide Emissions - Should You Be Worried?
Fossil fuels are responsible for less than one half of one percent and possibly as low as one tenth of one percent of all carbon emissions. The ocean is the number one carbon emitter, and natural land emission is number two. Was this information easy to find? No. The dishonesty of the radical leftist websites that attempt to create climate hysteria will not put it as plainly as this. Obfuscation is their goal. They will publish the numbers in oddly disparate places as to create barricades to the truth.
Carbon is not a pollutant, carbon is the elixir of life. In the 20th century, Star Trek's Enterprise went off in search for carbon based life forms; In the 21st century, anti-enterprise low life carbon based life forms boldly go where no deadly socialist has gone before.
California Naval Base, Becomes Refuge for Hundreds Of Illegal Alien Children As Deluge Of Children Continues
These "Dreamers" are our economic nightmare.
(note: this article calls these children "migrants", these are not migrants, they are illegal aliens)
PORT HUENEME, CALIF. — Hundreds of migrant children will be sheltered at a naval facility in California amid a spike in the number of minors caught crossing the border alone, authorities said Tuesday.
A 42,000-square-foot building in Port Hueneme previously used to house naval reservists before they deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan will be used as a temporary shelter, said Vance Vasquez, a spokesman for Naval Base Ventura County.
The facility, which has bed space for 570 people, was remodeled in 2007 and is equipped with showers, bathrooms and recreation spaces for TV watching and games. It has been closed for more than a year, Vasquez said.
Federal officials say children could start arriving as soon as this week at the facility 60 miles west of Los Angeles.
The government is also housing migrant children at a military base in Texas. Officials estimate as many as 60,000 children, mostly from Central America, could be caught at the border this year, which would be a nearly 10-fold increase since 2011.
Rampant crime and poverty across Central America and a desire to reunite with parents or other relatives are thought to be driving many of the young migrants. While the children face deportation proceedings if they are caught in the U.S., many have been able to win permission from an immigration judge to stay.
Children will be flown to the Port Hueneme site from other shelters while being cleared for transfer to sponsors, said Laura Goulding, a spokeswoman for the Administration for Children and Families, a division of the Health and Human Services Department. They will receive English language instruction, arts and crafts activities, and recreation at the shelter, she said.
Goulding said most children are expected to remain at the base less than the average stay of 35 days.
It was not immediately clear what would happen to the children’s deportation cases once they are transferred to Port Hueneme. A message was left for the Executive Office for Immigration Review.

Guantanamo prisoner charged in roadside attacks
MIAMI — The U.S. military is preparing for another war crimes trial at Guantanamo Bay.
Pentagon officials say charges have been approved against an alleged senior member of al-Qaida for offenses that include planning roadside bombing attacks against U.S. and allied troops and civilians in Afghanistan.
Abd al-Hadi al-Iraqi has been held at the U.S. base in Cuba since April 2007 and has been classified by the Defense Department as a “high-value” detainee.
A Pentagon statement Tuesday lists war crimes charges that include terrorism, murder of protected persons and attacking civilians. He faces up to life in prison on all but one of the charges.
A military lawyer appointed to represent him did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Two other war crimes cases are in pretrial stage.
(Flashback)
(NEWSER) – U.S. officials revealed yesterday they have Abd al-Hadi al-Iraqi, widely considered the architect of the 7/7 London transit attacks, in custody at Guantanamo Bay. The CIA nabbed al-Hadi as he tried to enter Iraq last year, and the announcement suggests—the Times reports—that he's been in a "ghost prison" since.
Intelligence analysts say Abd al-Hadi has captained al-Qaeda's operations in the U.K., including the 2005 attacks that killed 52 passengers on London's bus and tube. The Brits would like to talk to him, but may be stymied by American officials, who consider the former bin Laden confidant and Saddam general a "high-value detainee."
