When there is an actual SOLUTION to the issue of nuclear waste, then I will feel much better about it. Currently, taxpayers are shoveling out billions so the government can "handle the problem." Please...when has the government EVER DONE ANYTHING RIGHT???? I think the fundamental technology is great, and newer alternatives to the past GE-model disaster plants, are a great innovation...but still, the waste....
The 1946 Athens, TN was not the only place. San Francisco after the Gold Rush was extremely corrupt with police, Judges, criminals, and the mob so the people took to being Vigilantes and started hangings and shooting all corrupt until they got it cleared.
