Last year I Paid $1.39 a gallon for gas in Washington State. Many don't believe me until I show them the freeway sign on my phone. We're on a collision course to financial disaster. The whole premise is bogus. Europe is 3.93 million square miles, 1 governing body(EU) and more than 10 independent? Countries. The US is 3.79 million square miles and 50 semi independent states held together by a single federal government. <br />The energy consumption can not be equated as the distances are totally different, and no matter what some liberweenies want we won't respond well to being told to deal with it. Europe and the UK grew as a continent with canals, then rails then the automobile replacing it on established road ways. The US grew and grew up from stage routes to rails, with no pre existing roman infrastructure to set a model from. From rail to auto was not a large leap in tech but, was a vast leap in thought as you could no go anywhere you could reach and didn't have to follow up he herd.
