Books That Forecast The Future... Prediction Or Influence?
Many such transferences have occurred, from fiction to "science". Actually, I should say, to engineering. Many more have not. Or, not yet.
Part of this is due to the fact that, at one time, science fiction was science based. Some of the writers were heavier in the sciences than many scientists of today, and did their homework to boot. And, I should add that many sci... engineers... are sci-fi fans. Of course, as technology makes things possible, they wish to emulate some of that lore from comic books and science fiction books of their youth. And, finally, fiction itself leads the way, sort of tossing the battle flags into the ranks of the enemy (the unknown) to get sci... engineering off it's butt. Not just one thing, but a number of them, have lead to science fiction becoming engineered.
