Less than a year after President Obama stood at his podium and announced to the world that Yemen was a true success story in the war on terror and that we had a strong partnership with the government there to help them defend against terrorist forces, the last troops are pulling out, the embassy is closed, and the country is on the verge of being overran by terrorists. If this is Obama’s idea of success, it makes you wonder which side he is playing for.
Things are currently so bad in Yemen that the U.N. special envoy for Yemen warned an emergency meeting of the U.N. Security Council on Sunday that events appear to be leading the country “to the edge of civil war” and urged all parties to step back from the brink and resolve the conflict peacefully. We all know that this is not going to happen. No country other than the United States has willing selected a dictator over freedom without a fight.

When I see those large crowds I am always reminded of all our cluster bomb stockpiles, just sitting unused in a bunker collecting dust while their "use by" date gets closer and closer or until they all get de-milled in 2019. So much waste. Nothing is sadded than being the best you can be, having a clear purpose before you, and not getting used. Sad little cluster munitions.
