  1. Silly political propaganda. There is nothing close to being a military "disaster" about the Iraq war. It doesn't deserve to even be on the same page as the other items. The initial operation concluded with an unprecedented military victory, with better outcomes than even optimitstic estimates about casualties or time to complete. Several of these had no impact on history. The outcome of the Iraq war cannot have had an impact on history since it is too new. It seems like the entire point of the feature is to have something bad to say about BUSH!!. The other items were just thrown in to add context.

One side's disaster is another side's Victory.

  2. Hate to say it, but we won in Iraq. Dubya was smart enough to listen to Petraeus and, by the time he left office, Iraq was stable, no IS.

President Stompy Foot threw it all away.

And Custer thought he'd been spotted, so he felt he had no choice but to attack.

Stuff like this can be interesting, but, if it's ill-informed or, as generic notes, Lefty propaganda, it does no good.

  3. The 100s of thousands of Iraqi civilians being killed comes from an article in British medical magazine "The Lancet" and has been debunked.

  4. The absence of Lee's decisive defeat at Gettysburg as a history changing event as it was the end of the Confederacy's, and Lee's, mythical belief of being undefeatable.

The Spartans delaying Xerxes invasion of Greece which led to a failed Persian campaign which led to western democracies over eastern religious theocracies as governments. The Battle of Marathon sealing this Persian defeat.

Japans defeat at Guadacanal and Midway ending the Greater Southeast Co-Prosperity Sphere.

Little Big Horn had a very small affect on history. The American Indian was going to be defeated, LBH notwithstanding.

No doubt this High School History project was completed by a college sociology grad student.
