DONALD TRUMP: LIFETIME MEMBER OF NRA, CONCEALED PERMIT HOLDER

GOP presidential hopeful Donald Trump is a lifetime member of the NRA and a concealed carry permit holder who believes the advantages an armed citizenry provides to America are so evident as to be beyond “debate.”

In a recent interview with Ammoland, Trump said:
I am a Life Member of the NRA and am proud of their service in protecting our right to keep and bear arms. The NRA’s efforts to stop dangerous, gun-banning legislation and regulation is invaluable. The media focus on those efforts overshadows the great work the NRA does on behalf of safety and conservation.

He went on to talk about this “permit to carry” in New York and said, “I know firsthand the challenges law-abiding citizens have in exercising their Second Amendment rights.”

Trump cited figures showing how concealed carry impacts crime and focused on how states with less restrictions on carry—”right to carry states”—enjoy a lower “violent crime” and a “lower murder rate” than other parts of the country. He contrasted this with the fact that gun control “has consistently failed to stop violence” and said there really isn’t anything remaining to “debate” on these things.

Ammoland asked Trump about a statement he made 15 years ago regarding “assault weapons,” trying to ascertain where Trump stands on the ongoing opposition to AR-15s from people like Senator Dianna Feinstein (D-CA). Trump responded by saying he believes the left’s targeted assault on AR-15s is really just an extension of the left’s usual habit of going after whatever it is that Americans love at a given moment.

Because of this, he said they focus on things that are non-essential—like grips, magazines, etc.

Here are Trump’s exact words:

  1. A very relevant piece of information I would like to know - how long was Trump an NRA life member before he got the idea to run for President as a Republican?

  2. ...lifetime member of the NRA.

    It used to be the normal. Grant, Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft, Dwight D. Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy, Ronald Reagan, and George H. W. Bush all were members.

  3. It is encouraging, but it is certainly true that there can be a difference between a Life Member of the NRA (like I am) and a lifetime member of the NRA, which for me, is most of my adult life. But anyone can become a "Life Member" if they just pony up the cash. Mr. Bee has a good question.

  4. Good question? Perhaps. A politician who is grooming himself to be elected is far superior to politicians who, it appears, are more inclined to just tell conservatives to go pound sand, offering only a few possible nibbles but no real strength on conservative issues. Honestly, politicians are prostitutes. If I am going to pay, I want what I want, not what a pol wants to give. I see Jeb has turned around, suggesting that multiculturalism isn't good for America. Since when? And, before or after he, if elected, amnesties millions, tens of millions, perhaps forty million illegal immigrants on top of the horrifyingly large number of "legal" muslims being brought in. Gah!

    If a pol is going to change tune and sing, I expect them to sing my song. None of the others are even coming close. It's a rough and tumble world, and maybe half-lies are as good as it gets. But Republicans aren't even offering that, but more aren't even offering much of that which would even interest me. As the Cars sort of roughly puts it, let them brush your rock and roll hair
    let the good times roll.

  5. I wonder if he was a lifetime NRA member as he was donating to the Clinton Foundation or to Charlie Rangel or to Ted Kennedy or to Frank Lautenberg, etc, etc.

  6. To those of you who are enamored of Donald Trump there are a few things that you should know about him. Donald Trump is a conservative come lately. He was a New Your liberal democrat long before he decided to run for president as a republican. When Hillary Clinton ran against Barack Obama Trump endorsed Hillary stating that she was the best candidate. In 2008 Trump endorsed Barrack Obama for president. Before Trump got his concealed carry permit and became a life member of the NRA he supported the ban on assault weapons. Over the years Trump has donated far more money to the democrat party than the republican party. Donald Trump donated money to the campaigns of Harry Reid And Nancy Pelosi. Be careful of whom you support.
