Whispers are now rampant that President Trump is using the significant funds allocated to military spending in the most recent omnibus bill he signed last week to allocate full and immediate funding for the southern border wall project. If so it would be a brilliant side-step maneuver that would outflank the anti-secure border members of Congress – including many among the Republican leadership.
An omnibus bill is not a budget and so allows a president considerable powers to spend those funds as they choose. Wonderful theory. Until the wall begins in three to five places, and goes up at speed, this is just bullshit. Talk is cheap.
ReplyDeleteIf he is true to his word, then $20b, even $40b, is not a problem. If the .mil is truly his, and our, allies, a score or two of bills is less than medical shot paperwork for any of the forces. Me? Not holding my breath.

of the contract will be contracted to the defense department. My only concern is the
safety of the crews. If I were Trump, I would deploy armed SeeBee's to "supervise"
the walls constrution. The moment that bill was signed, the executive has complete
control over how it is used. If this actually comes to pass, the left is going to
be crapping peach pits!
A lot of this will come out of the DHS and Corps of Engineers civil projects budget.
