Obama-appointed Judge blocks Trump admin’s migrant asylum crackdown, despite DHS warning

Parts of the caravan have been arriving to Tijuana after traveling more than a month through
 Central America and Mexico to reach the U.S. border.
President Trump’s recent proclamation to help keep America safe was shot down by a federal judge in San Francisco on Monday.

In the face of an approaching ‘caravan’ of migrants headed towards the U.S. Trump issued a proclamation on November 9 that declared anyone who entered the United States illegally ineligible for asylum.

The order was immediately challenged by the American Civil Liberties Union and the Center for Constitutional Rights which sued the Trump administration.

U.S. District judge Jon S. Tigar, an Obama appointee, shot down the proclamation with a temporary restraining order.

“Individuals are entitled to asylum if they cross between ports of entry. It couldn’t be clearer,” Bahzer Azmy, a lawyer for the Center of Constitutional Rights argued, according to Fox News.
