The news comes on the heels of the president’s continued fight for stronger border security and funding for the border wall.
The Daily Mail reports that the arrests occurred in Arizona and Texas and took place last week.
The first arrest occurred last Tuesday, when agents arrested a Honduran national near Eagle Pass, Texas after he illegally crossed over the Rio Grande River. The man is a confirmed member of MS-13 and had been previously deported.
On Wednesday, also in Eagle Pass, agents arrested another Honduran national who was convicted of fondling a child in 2012 in New Jersey and was deported in 2013.
Also on Wednesday, Border Patrol arrested a Mexican national after he crossed the border illegally near Lukeville, Arizona. In 2002, the man had been convicted of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor in Mesa.
On Thursday in Nogales, Arizona, CBP apprehended another MS-13 gang member who had also been previously removed from the country.
Yesterday, President Trump delivered a Christmas Day message where he reiterated his demands to obtain funding for the border wall. He remained steadfast in his claims that the partial government shutdown will remain in place “until we have a wall [or] fence.”
