CONSENSUS REACHED – President Trump and China President Xi Jinping Reportedly Reach Agreement in Buenos Aires

President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping met tonight in Argentina at the close of the G20 meetings to discuss trade and other issues between the countries.

Earlier in the day President Trump announced that he would meet with Chinese President Xi after the close of the G20 meetings –
U.S. President Donald Trump said he will have a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Saturday to discuss trade after the close of the G20 summit in Argentina.

“We will be meeting with President Xi tonight…and we’ll be talking about a thing called trade and probably other things but primarily trade. It’s a very important meeting,” Trump said.

U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping held high-stakes trade talks on Saturday but ended their summit without any immediate word on whether they made progress toward defusing a damaging tariffs war between Washington and Beijing.

Trump told Xi at the start of the meeting he hoped they would achieve “something great” on trade for both countries. The leaders finished their talks after about 2-1/2 hours, with Trump heading to the airport for his scheduled Saturday night departure for Washington. Neither side issued any early statements on the outcome.

Their closely watched encounter came shortly after the Group of 20 industrialized nations backed an overhaul of the global body that regulates international trade disputes, marking a victory for Trump, a sharp critic of the organization.
