Electric Cars?

We Do Not Currently Have The Electrical Infrastructure To Charge Cars For Every Household.

We Would Need To Build More Electricity Plants. Solar And Wind Won't Cut It. Start Digging That Coal...

  1. It's not just where is all that new electricity going to come from (production facilities), but how are you going to get it to your car (distribution channels).

Currently the U.S. uses 145 billion gallons of gas a year, and we use 3.8 trillion kWh of electricity. Wikipedia says that a gallon of gas is equal to 33.4 kWh, so if all vehicles used electricity instead of gas we're going to need another 4.8 trillion kWh of electricity. Production would have to increase by 127% (227% of what we currently do). California is already burning down its forests because the power lines are over-loaded, just how do they propose doubling that transmission load.
