  1. Heck no. Middle school. High school. Both. Don't wait until college.

    1. Start earlier and have more intensive courses every year of middle and high school.

    2. Amen. Along with gun safety courses. Then bring back shooting sports for high-school kids, if they desire to join. But safety courses should be mandatory, along with actual "here's what the Constitution and Bill of Rights say".

  2. I disagree. i have state history in 8th grade and US history in 9th grade. Until we have another century of history, there's no point in taking it twice.

And I agree that it shouldn't wait til college.

  4. Needs to start at the home (hopefully) and start at the Elementary level (4th/5th grade) with the rudimentaries (Supreme Law, Bill of Rights, Preamble) and drill down each year after until college and perhaps continue in college. I remember learning about these things early and learning Civics in Middle School as well. Anyone remember AVC in Middle school?

  5. Elementary school kids should be taught the Constitution and basic economics. High school kids should be taught basic life skills like budgeting and investing as well as the Constitution. None of these topics should be taught by the leftist morons that fill the ranks of public school teachers today.

  7. My High school Senior says high school would be better. Also, make it a class on "important federal documents class". The Constitution, the Bill of Rights, The Federalist Papers Etc.

  8. I do not think it could be done. How could you possibly explain even a small part of it, like the Bill of Rights, which has been violated by the gov't for decades now. For example: The right to bear arms (but only if the gov't OKs it and limits its scope, known as infringements); Freedom from unwarranted searches (DUI checkpoints, asset forfeiture on accusation NOT conviction);etc. You might as well teach Greek Mythology since that is what our Constitution is most closely resembles!

  9. Mandatory local history starting in the 3rd grade, 4 and 5th grades state history. In the 5th Grade we got to go to a copper smelting plant in town and got to see how copper was refined ()green fire was really cool to see. then to the wire mill to see how wire was made. Back in the sixties we were drawing maps of the state and Identifying State capital cities for all the states by the sixth grade. Mandatory HISTORY CLASSES NOT Civics. Tell it straight and do not scrimp of the faults for every fault show how we overcame them as a country. I agree with Teddy Roosevelt a hyphenated American is not a TRUE American.
