I can't swear to it, but that may just have been a non-pressurized partly full gas tank. If the car is light enough, and it looks it maybe, and had a ltngt (larger than normal gas tank), I could see it. The problem would be ignition... A ping pong ball, filled with draino through a small hole, then slathered in vaseline to give it some time... or a few other options. Just... thinking out loud.
