You're not wrong, but developers are gonna develop, especially in one of the most desirable neighborhoods around. Those houses were built in the 40's and 50's when Pacific Palisades was first being developed.
I lived there 1957-1982. My closest HS buddy lived in one of the streets in that photo, Fiske St. That was originally a very middle class neighborhood. My folks paid $25k for their house. The rich people lived up the canyons. The median home price (was) 5 million, a lot of those were $400k houses on a multimillion dollar piece of land.
