When I worked my way thru college in the 70s I worked in the Black Slums of South Central Los Angeles, which included Watts for the phone company. The public housing areas (projects) we would go into between 7-9AM three at a time, one to watch the vehicles, and two together. The reason so early was they had gone asleep and we left before they woke up. The worse thing I ever saw was there we found a woman skinned alive and called the police who would normally not come to the projects. They came and we left.
