Three indicted for allegedly throwing Molotov cocktails at NYPD vehicles, face life in prison
An upstate woman and two Brooklyn lawyers were indicted Friday on federal explosives and arson charges for allegedly tossing Molotov cocktails at NYPD vehicles during George Floyd protests in New York City.
Samantha Shader, 27, of Catskill, is accused of hurling the makeshift explosive at an NYPD vehicle occupied by four police officers on early Saturday morning, May 30.
Prosecutors allege Shader bit one of the officer’s legs when she was being taken into custody.
Around the same time, Brooklyn lawyers Urooj Rahman, 31, and Colinford Mattis, 32, were accused of tossing their own Molotov cocktail at an unoccupied police vehicle in Brooklyn during a separate attack.Enlarge ImageColinford Mattis, left, and Urooj RahmanAP
All three face life in prison on the seven-count indictments, charging them with the use of explosives, arson, use of explosives to commit a felony, arson conspiracy, use of a destructive device, civil disorder, and making or possessing a destructive device.
“Such criminal acts should never be confused with legitimate protest,” said United States Attorney Richard Donoghue in a statement. “Those who carry out attacks on NYPD Officers or vehicles are not protesters, they are criminals, and they will be treated as such.”
No police were hurt by the explosives. Shader’s lit bottle never ignited. The explosive Rahman and Mattis tossed did ignite and set the empty, parked police vehicle ablaze, prosecutors allege.
Prosecutors said Shader, whose actions were allegedly caught on camera, has an extensive rap sheet that includes arrests in 11 different states.
In January of last year, she was busted for interfering with a police officer in...
VIDEO: Teen Surprised with Car, Scholarship for Spending 10 Hours Cleaning Up After Riots
A young man in Buffalo, New York, was recognized for helping his city recover from riots and protests that followed the death of George Floyd.
When 18-year-old Antonio Gwynn Jr. saw a news report that showed the damage left behind by the protesters, he grabbed some cleaning supplies and got to work on Monday morning, according to WSVN.
Starting at 2 a.m., Gwynn swept and picked up trash for the next ten hours, before a group of neighbors showed up only to find he had already done most of the work.
The story of the teenager’s selfless act later reached the ears of resident Matt Block, 27, who decided to give Gwynn his 2004 red Mustang convertible after he saw the young man ask for car buying advice on Facebook.
“I couldn’t come to grips with selling it, and this was a good way for me to get rid of it and know someone that gets it is going to appreciate it, I think,” Block explained.
To his surprise, the teenager told him that his mom, who passed away in 2018, had also driven a red Mustang. Block said the news gave him “goosebumps.”
In addition to the car, Briceland Insurance Agency pledged to cover the teen’s insurance costs for an entire year.
“I just felt compelled to help him out. We just need to get together our whole city and show people how there’s so many good people here,” the...
European Commission accuses China of spreading Covid-19
For the first time since the start of the health crisis, China is officially accused by the European Commission
For several weeks, the accusations against China punctuated the Coronavirus crisis. Several countries, led by the United States, notably criticized Beijing for having concealed information on the pandemic and thus for having caused the death of hundreds of thousands of people.
The anti-Chinese rhetoric has now taken a more concrete turn with the publication of a report from the European Commission which officially denounces the “disinformation campaign” in China but also in Russia.
French daily Le Parisien reported that these two countries “are the main providers of content aimed at misinforming European citizens,” according to Věra Jourová, vice-president of the institution responsible for values and transparency. The EU challenged China the first time – directly: “I’m glad we did, because if we have evidence, we need to report it. […] It’s time to tell the truth, ” said Věra Jourová.
“For the first time, we have clearly seen China becoming one of the main actors in disinformation,” according to the European Commission.
In detail, the institution accuses China and Russia of circulating “dangerous hoaxes” and “misleading medical information with false allegations” on the Coronavirus. In particular, Jourová cites statements such as “it would be pointless to wash your hands” or “the Coronavirus is only dangerous for the elderly”. The European Commission also points to “conspiracy theories” such as the circulation of the virus by 5G antennas, or those accusing an ethnic or religious group of being at the origin of the pandemic.
“One of the main arguments is to say that the virus is not from China,” says the European Commission. The Chinese Embassy in Paris has regularly...

UK police union afraid that illegals will become violent if fingerprinted
The union which represents Britain's Border Force warned that officials taking fingerprints of illegals could face violent reactions from the migrants.
Border control officers working at Eurotunnel, have been ordered by UK Home Secretary Priti Patel to take fingerprints of migrants illegally trying to board trains heading for the UK. The tunnel connects the UK and France under the English Channel.
The policy had been in place until 2010 but was discarded. Patel wants to reinstate the policy to stop the flood of migrants from crossing the Channel.
The move by Britain’s Home Office would make it easier for migrants to be returned to France, the BBC reported. According the EU’s Dublin Rules, fingerprinting would provide evidence that an illegal migrant had been in France, therefore making it easier to send the migrant back.

But a spokeswoman for the ISU trade union representing British immigration officers, said: “That is quite a challenge, particularly if they really don’t want to have their fingerprints taken.”
“We don’t have digital fingerprint recorders, we only have wet ink. So you have literally got to hold their hands and roll their fingers from side to side to get a print. That’s quite a lot of avenue to fight back if that’s what they want to do. I’m very concerned about the levels of violence that will result and the fact that...

Seattle Mayor Celebrates “Summer of Love” as Rape and Violent Crime Soars in ‘CHAZ’ Communist Utopia
Everything unfolding exactly as predicted.
The Mayor of Seattle celebrated a “summer of love” even as rape and violent crime soared in the new “autonomous zone” Communist utopia set up by left-wing extremists in a 6 block area of the city.
The Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone, or CHAZ, is a police-free district of Seattle that has been overrun by Black Lives Matter protesters since Monday.
After the police building was boarded up (with the tacit support of members of the city council), the first thing protesters did was to build a border wall and check the identities of everyone entering and leaving (oh the irony).
Protesters have put on the barricades that those coming into the area are “now leaving the USA” and entering the “Cap Hill autonomous zone” or “Free Capitol Hill.”

US deporting more illegal immigrants than are entering the country, says Cuccinelli
The Trump administration is decreasing the number of illegal immigrants in the country, deporting more than are entering, according to a top from the Department of Homeland Security.
"I think we’ve probably reached a point in the last few months where we’re deporting more illegals than are coming into the country," Ken Cuccinelli, acting DHS deputy secretary, said during a Heritage Foundation webinar Wednesday.
The number of migrants apprehended by Border Patrol between border crossings dropped from 30,000 on the U.S.-Mexico border in March to half that figure in April amid the coronavirus pandemic. This suggests fewer people are seeking to cross. Customs and Border Protection, the DHS agency that manages operations at the country's land, air, and sea borders, has not released its May figures yet.
In March, the Trump administration said the CBP would begin to "expel" all illegal crossers at the border immediately, including asylum seekers. The move meant immigrants would not be held in CBP custody for several days before being turned over to longer-term immigration detention centers operated by Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Trump officials said it would slow the spread of the virus among people in detention, while immigrant advocates said the move denied due process to migrants.
Obama Admin Turned Down Renaming of Army Bases: ‘Reconciliation, Not Division’
The U.S. Army under President Barack Obama turned down the suggestion in 2015 of renaming military bases that had been named for Confederate generals.
The idea emerged in the wake of the mass shooting at the Mother Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina, in which a white supremacist murdered nine black parishioners. In the aftermath, the state government removed the Confederate battle flag from the grounds of the state capitol, noting its history as a symbol of division.
However, the Obama administration rejected the idea of renaming military bases named for Confederate bases, noting that many of the names had been adopted as symbols of reconciliation between North and South after the brutal Civil War.
As the Los Angeles Times reported at the time:
The Army’s top spokesman, Brig. Gen. Malcolm B. Frost, issued a brief statement in the aftermath of questions about whether the military ought to consider changing the name of bases like Fort Bragg, North Carolina, which is named after the man who led the Confederate Army of Tennessee, Gen. Braxton Bragg.
“Every Army installation is named for a soldier who holds a place in our military history,” Frost said. “Accordingly, these historic names represent individuals, not causes or ideologies. It should be noted that the naming occurred in the spirit of reconciliation, not division.”
President Obama chose Fort Bragg as the site for an address welcoming U.S. troops home from their mission in Iraq in 2011.
