ReplyDeleteI've seen steel erectors use A490 bolts because they have a much higher tensile strength over A325. A325 fasteners can handle the zinc in the hot dip process but not A490. When you use a galvanizing coating on A490 bolts you tend to get what they term "embrittlement". I think that's what we're looking at here.
