VIDEO: Crowd Boos Bubba Wallace After He’s Announced, Cheers After He Crashes
Bubba "Smollett" Wallace was greeted with loud booing from those in attendance at NASCAR’s Cup Series All-Star Race at Bristol, Tennessee this week.
Things didn’t improve for Wallace once the race began either. The sport’s lone full-time black driver crashed into a wall, after which the crowd cheered. Moreover, there were several confederate flags visible in and around the raceway. Flying in defiance of Wallace’s and NASCAR’s demand that the flags be removed from all official events.
Here’s how it sounded when Wallace was introduced.

As the AP’s Jenna Fryer reports:
Despite the booing at hearing Wallace’s name and the cheering upon watching his crash, the booing from the fans likely had less to do with the driver’s stances on social issues and more to do with his harsh characterization of NASCAR fans who were dubious, (correctly, as it turns out) of Wallace’s contention that someone had placed a noose in his garage with racial intent.
In June, an FBI investigation concluded that no hate crime had occurred because the “noose” in Wallace’s garage was in fact a garage pull handle that had been in place long before anyone could have known Wallace would use that garage. In response to claims from some fans that the noose incident had been staged, Wallace accused some NASCAR fans of being “simple minded,” not taking the time to “educate” themselves, and being...
Nike is laying off staff and announces a $790 million loss in its latest quarterly earnings
- Nike is laying off some of its staff, the company confirmed to Business Insider.
- CEO John Donahoe announced the news on Thursday in a companywide email, which Complex saw.
- The sportswear giant also on Thursday reported a net loss of $790 million for the fourth quarter, in part a result of pandemic-related store closures.
- "We are shifting resources and creating capacity to reinvest in our highest potential areas, and we anticipate our realignment will likely result in a net loss of jobs," Nike said in a statement.
CEO John Donahoe announced the layoffs — expected to occur in phases, starting in July — in a companywide email on Thursday. The email, which Complex saw, did not specify how many employees and which departments would be affected but mentioned that workers at Nike's retail stores, distribution centers, and manufacturing facilities were not expected to be among those laid off.
Donahoe said the layoffs were not related to the pandemic or costs but described them as an effort to restructure the "overburdened matrix" of the company, according to Complex.
Nike told Business Insider that any money saved would be "reinvested" in the company.
"Consumer Direct Acceleration is the next digitally empowered phase of our strategy," Nike said in a statement. "We are building a flatter, nimbler company and transforming Nike faster to define the marketplace of the future. We are shifting resources and creating capacity to reinvest in our highest potential areas, and we anticipate our realignment will likely result in a net loss of jobs."
The announcement came shortly after Nike reported a net loss of $790 million in the fourth quarter, partly the result of the COVID-19 pandemic's impact on stores across North America.
"These decisions are exceptionally difficult because they impact friends and colleagues at Nike," Donahoe wrote in the email, according to Complex. "You have my personal commitment that we will put people at the center throughout this entire process. We will support everyone impacted by this transition."
In its statement to Business Insider, Nike said, "We are committed to showing compassion and respect for our transitioning employees through thoughtful and robust severance practices, consistent with our company values, our legal obligations, the...
Eight Chinese Fighter Jets Show up at Woody Island in the South China Sea
Eight Chinese fighter jets were visible Friday at its key military base in the disputed Paracel Islands, as two U.S. aircraft carriers performed their second exercise in the South China Sea in two weeks amid mounting tensions between Washington and Beijing.
Satellite imagery reviewed by RFA showed the Chinese planes on the runway at Woody Island. At least four of them appeared to be J-11Bs, which are fighter jets in service with the People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) and Naval Aviation Force (PLANAF). The other four appear similar to and fit the dimensions of the JH-7, an anti-ship fighter-bomber in service with the PLAAF and PLANAF as well.
Experts said it was the most fighter aircraft that have been spotted at one time at Woody Island, which is China’s largest military base and settlement in the Paracels, a grouping of features in the north of the South China Sea that is claimed by China, Vietnam, and Taiwan. Military aircraft have shown up at Woody Island before, as have Chinese warships, most notably during China’s military exercises in the area from July 1-5.
Forbes reported the presence of four J-11Bs at Woody Island on Wednesday, but they were not in the same place on Thursday. They reappeared with the four other fighter aircraft on Friday.
Their presence points to growing militarization of Chinese-occupied features in the South China Sea, and increased displays of military power by both China and the U.S. It also coincides with another round of naval exercises Thursday involving two U.S. aircraft carrier battle groups – the USS Nimitz and USS Ronald Reagan. The first maneuvers began on July 4 and lasted six days, the first such “dual carrier drill” by the U.S. in the South China Sea in at least four years.
“Alongside like-minded regional partners, these efforts are in direct support of U.S. resolve to fly, sail, and operate wherever international law allows," said Commander of the U.S. Navy’s 7th Fleet, Vice Adm. Bill Merz, in a statement. "The capability and flexibility of our Navy is on full display as we support Indo-Pacific security and stability. There is no better example of our regional commitment, and periodically we will bring multiple teams together in 7th Fleet to practice large-scale coordinated operations."
The maneuvers also come after the U.S. performed a freedom of navigation exercise on Wednesday through the Spratly Islands, which China considers part of its territory on the basis of “historic rights.” That followed U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s announcement this week of a new U.S. position on China’s expansive claims in the South China Sea, calling China’s claims to low-tide elevations in the Spratlys and to the waters around land features in the area “illegal” under international law.
The top U.S. diplomat for East Asia, David Stilwell, then signaled that the U.S. was considering sanctions against Chinese companies responsible for...
UK Rightly Pushes Back on Gender Transitioning for Minors
On both sides of the Atlantic, advocates for transgender rights are increasingly substituting ideology for biological reality.
But while here in the U.S. the Supreme Court last month was writing into Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act legal protections for people who identify as transgender that the authors of the law never intended, the United Kingdom appeared to be moving in the other direction, standing up for common sense.
On the other side of the pond, just five days before the Supreme Court handed down its decision, bestselling “Harry Potter” author J.K. Rowling published an intensely personal essay in response to criticism of her position on the issue of gender identity.
In the essay, Rowling, who is British, revealed her past experiences with sexual assault and domestic abuse, and expressed concern about transgender activists’ attacks on single-sex spaces for women.
Two regimes are fighting an ideological war in America today. But what side are you on? And how can you sharpen up on how to defend your position? Learn more now >>
As a former teacher and a supporter of children’s charities, Rowling also stated her discomfort with the rush to medically transition children with gender dysphoria and especially the massive increase in young girls suddenly identifying as transgender.
Despite the vitriol she received in response from the left, Rowling refused to back down from her stance.
The comments by Rowling, along with other recent developments in the United Kingdom, show promising signs that the relentless advance of transgender ideology in medicine and public policy finally might be encountering some resistance across the Atlantic.
Britain’s minister for women and equalities, Liz Truss, recently announced plans to ban sex-change procedures for anyone under the age of 18.
Truss told a parliamentary committee April 20: “I believe strongly that adults should have the freedom to lead their lives as they see fit, but I think it’s very important that while people are still developing their decision-making capabilities that we protect them from making those irreversible decisions.”
Transgender activists frequently recommend those medical interventions—which include puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgery—for children who suffer from...
READ: Newly-declassified Trump-Russia documents show anti-Trump leaks planted in NYT were shockingly wrong-- 9 times
Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) has released two newly-declassified documents related to government surveillance abuses against the Trump campaign in 2016.
The first document, withheld from public view until now, is a 57-page summary of a three-day FBI interview in January 2017 with Christopher Steele’s so-called “Primary Sub-source” in the anti-Trump allegations and "dossier."
According to the analysis by Sen. Graham's office:
- The document reveals that the primary “source” of Steele’s election reporting was not some well-connected current or former Russian official, but a non-Russian based contract employee of Christopher Steele’s firm. Moreover, it demonstrates that the information that Steele’s primary source provided him was second and third-hand information and rumor at best.
- Critically, the document shows that Steele’s “Primary Sub-source” disagreed with and was surprised by how information he gave Steele was then conveyed by Steele in the Steele dossier.
Document number two, also withheld from public view until now, takes apart a New York Times article written by Michael Schmidt, Mark Mazzetti, and Matt Apuzzo.
Comments made by then-FBI agent Peter Strzok undercut a litany of claims made in the Times article, which was entitled: "Trump Campaign Aides Had Repeated Contact With Russian Intelligence."
Claim in NYT article: "Phone records and intercepted calls show that members of Donald J. Trump's presidential campaign and other Trump associates had repeated contacts with senior Russian intelligence officials in the year before the election, according to four current and former American officials."
Note by Strzok: "This statement is misleading and inaccurate as written. We have not seen evidence of any individuals in contact with Russians (both Governmental and non-Governmental" and "There is no known intel affiliation, and little if any [Government of Russia] affiliation[.] FBI investigation has shown past contact between [Trump campaign volunteer Carter] Page and the SVR [Service of the Russian Federation], but not during his association with the Trump campaign."
Claim in NYT article: "...one of the advisers picked up on the [intercepted] calls was Paul Manafort, who was Mr. Trump's campaign chairman for several months..."
Note by Strzok: "We are unaware of any calls with any Russian government official in which Manafort was a party."
Claim in NYT article: "The FBI has obtained banking and travel records..."
Note by Strzok: "We do not yet have detailed banking records."
Claim in NYT article: "Officials would not disclose many details, including what was discussed on the calls, and how many of Trump's advisers were talking to the Russians."
Note by Strzok: "Again, we are unaware of ANY Trump advisers engaging in conversations with Russian intel officials" and "Our coverage has not revealed contact between Russian intelligence officers and the Trump team."
Claim in NYT article: "The F.B.I. asked the N.S.A. to collect as much information as possible about the Russian operatives on the phone calls..."
Note by Strzok:
2015 Video Shows Trump Denouncing Epstein’s Pedo Island as an “Absolute Cesspool”
“Just ask Prince Andrew, he’ll tell you about it.”
A newly unearthed video from 2015 shows Donald Trump describing Jeffrey Epstein’s infamous ‘pedo island’ as an “absolute cesspool.”
Trump made the comments during an interview with Bloomberg in response to news at the time that Virginia Roberts Giuffre had accused Epstein of coercing her into sex with Prince Andrew when she was 17.
“That island was really a cesspool, no question about it, just ask Prince Andrew, he’ll tell you about it – the island was an absolute cesspool and he’s been there many times,” said Trump.
Trump went on to add that the Clintons’ relationship with Epstein could end up being a “political problem” for them.
While Donald Trump was once a personal friend of Jeffrey Epstein, he banned the billionaire pedophile from visiting Mar-a-Lago shortly after Epstein’s 2008 conviction.
Epstein victim Virginia Roberts Giuffre confirmed in unsealed court documents last year that she didn’t witness Trump involved with any of the girls and women groomed by Epstein.
“It’s true that he didn’t partake in any sex with us, but it’s not true that he flirted with me. Donald Trump never flirted with me,” said...

The Communist Pedigree of the Clenched-fist Salute
Riots, protests, demonstrations, rallies; pick the issue — police brutality, racism, Occupy Wall Street, oil and gas fracking, minimum-wage legislation, education funding, etc. — it’s a sure bet a certain symbol will be ever-present.
When Baltimore erupted in flames, riots, and looting, the “protesters” — from unknown teens to infamous agitators — prominently displayed the clenched-fist salute. The same clenched fist appeared on rally posters and banners, along with “#BlackLivesMatter” and “Hands Up, Don’t Shoot!” Malik Zulu Shabazz, the hate-spewing former head of the New Black Panther Party (and current national president of Black Lawyers for Justice) conspicuously employed the clenched fist salute while leading chants and rallies in Baltimore. (See picture below.) It was a repeat of the violence-promoting rallies that exploited the “racial justice” theme and fomented racial turmoil nationwide following the Trayvon Martin shooting in Florida and the Michael Brown police shooting in Missouri.
In Ferguson, Missouri, black rioters and looters went on a rampage, spurred on by the media, which falsely portrayed Michael Brown as “the gentle giant,” another unarmed young black man shot down in cold blood by a white police officer, according to the media storyline. Protesters took to the streets with their clenched fists raised, led by the professional organizers of the Black Lives Matter movement, the New Black Panther Party, the Communist Party USA, and the Revolutionary Communist Party (RCP).
Black protesters with their clenched fists raised in the air were photographed and displayed on the cover of Revolution, the official newspaper of the Revolutionary Communist Party. Elaborating about the many “great things that are happening” in the Communist Party USA, party chairman John Bachtell told Gawker.com in an interview, posted on August 15, 2015, “Black Lives Matter has played an important role.” This is not surprising, since, as The New American has reported, the co-creators of the #BlackLivesMatter slogan that suddenly appeared on posters, T-shirts, Tweets, and protest banners are Patrisse Cullors, Alicia Garza, and Opal Tometi, three radical lesbian Marxists who identify themselves as “queer Black women” and who idolize former Communist Party leader Angela Davis and communist terrorist/cop-killer Assata Shakur.
It is much the same story in more localized mob actions, such as the violent and disruptive protests staged in...

BLM Organizer Chris DeVries Charged On Six Counts Of Child Sex Abuse
CHRISTOPHER DEVRIES, ORGANIZER, AND LEADER OF A BLACK LIVES MATTER/DEFUND THE POLICE PROTEST HE NAMED ‘SKATE AWAY THE HATE’ HAS BEEN ARRESTED ON SIX COUNTS OF POSSESSION OF CHILD SEX ABUSE IMAGES.
DeVries, a resident of Jackson, New Hampshire, served on the Municipal Budget Committee for the town of Conway in the Granite State.
In addition to child abuse charges, he was also charged for falsifying physical evidence after he threw his cellphone from his porch when law enforcement arrived.
The child abuse images allegedly show underage girls either in “lewd exhibition” of private parts, or engaging in sexual activity. He was also charged for possession of psilocybin mushrooms, a Class B felony, which is punishable by up to seven years in prison.
Throughout the protest, DeVries utilized a loudspeaker where he rattled off demands that he claimed were conveyed to him by local chapters of Black Lives Matter:
“If we divest funds from police and prison systems we all benefit,” said DeVries.
Ahead of the protests he told local news: “I feel like this is one of the best things I can do as a father on Father’s Day… I want to live in a world where racism is not accepted or tolerated, and I don’t want to live in a community or know there are communities in this country where people are afraid of their local police.”
Jackson Police Chief Chris Perley stated after the arrest: “generally speaking, people should be very cautious about listening to voices suggesting defunding of the police because their motives are not always in the best interest of...
Rare Reveal: Mass Asylum Fraud at the Southern Border
Indian nationals migrating through Costa Rica toward the U.S. southern border in December 2018 |
Never mind H-1B Visas, NPR reports how thousands of Indians illegally cross from Mexico
Presidents and Congress can pull levers and push buttons all they want on legal immigration, opening and closing spigots on visas like the H-1B and H-2B used to import cheaper workers from abroad.
But the dirty little secret is that any nationality or visa category a president might choose to restrict always has a viable end-run option readily at their disposal: illegal entry through the U.S. southwest border, where visa-denied migrants simply defraud America's asylum system and get in permanently anyway.
A few of us at CIS have reported how migrants dodge official rules to achieve the American Dream anyway, with a border crossing and asylum claim, with little permanent reform resulting. But maybe the policy- and law-maker set on both sides of the aisle will listen to NPR reporter Lauren Frayer. She published a report July 9 that is rather remarkable in that it lays bare for a broad listening (and reading) audience exactly how thousands of Indian migrants, all largely coming for jobs and lifestyle, game the asylum system by posing as persecuted torture victims at the border.
For her piece titled "The Long, Perilous Route Thousands of Indians Have Risked For A shot At Life in U.S.", Frayer traveled to India and interviewed deported migrants and aspiring migrants, as well as Indian and U.S. officials, triangulating how it all works from the inside.
It helps first to understand that Indians make up one of the largest "extra-continental" nationality groups apprehended at the southern border every year, especially in recent years, which is why Frayer reported the story. In 2018, Border Patrol agents apprehended approximately 8,997 Indians. Last year, 7,675 were caught. In total, the Border Patrol has apprehended more than 32,000 Indian nationals at the southern border between 2009 and 2019, CBP apprehension data shows.
CIS readers should take stock of Frayer's report on their own. But key takeaways follow:
AG Barr’s stinging rebuke of US businesses appeasing Maoist China
Attorney General Bill Barr’s China speech at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum was amazing and something you never would have heard four years ago. Our past administrations have fallen in line with the Chinese Communists until now and this administration.
MAOISTS ARE CHANGING AMERICA
Barr stated, “The ultimate ambition of China’s rulers isn’t to trade with the United States. It is to raid the United States. If you are an American business leader, appeasing the PRC may bring short-term rewards. But in the end, the PRC’s goal is to replace you.”
“The CCP has long used public threats of retaliation and barred market access to exert influence,” Barr said. “More recently, however, the CCP has also stepped up behind the scenes efforts to cultivate and coerce American business executives to further its political objectives.”
Barr continued, “Efforts that are all the more pernicious because they are largely hidden from public view.”
This presents a significant threat because “hiding behind American voices allows the Chinese government to elevate its influence campaigns and put a friendly face on its pro-regime policies.”
Barr also called out U.S. universities that take money from China and bow to the CCP by silencing speech or canceling events on topics considered “controversial” by Beijing.
“The CCP surveils its own people and assigns them social credit scores, employs an army of government censors, tortures dissidents, and persecutes religious and ethnic minorities, including a million Uighurs detained in indoctrination and labor camps.”
“If what happened in China stayed in China, that would all be bad enough. But instead of America changing China, China is leveraging its economic power to change America.”
BARR CALLS OUT US COMPANIES, HOLLYWOOD ELITES — HUGE
Barr explained, “The Chinese Communist Party thinks in terms of decades and centuries, while we tend to focus on the next quarterly earnings report,” Barr said. “America’s big tech companies have also allowed themselves to become pawns of...
Joe Biden Threatens America, Army of Six Hundred Lawyers Ready To Act 'If It's Close' in November
Remember that to-do over Twitter’s decision to append a box to President Donald Trump’s tweet about mail-in voting that said, “Get the facts about mail-in voting?” I wonder if they’re getting those labels warmed up for Joe Biden these days, given his theories on voting are a bit strange.
I also wonder whether Twitter is preparing for Elvis Presley to deliver his first tweet from his official account.
I ask not because of the fact that the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee wants to challenge mail-in voting. (Perish the thought, in fact.) Instead, Biden seems to believe Trump is working to “steal” the election from the Democrats before it even happens — and the former vice president already has assembled a phalanx of lawyers to try and wrest the presidency into the Democratic column if need be.
According to USA Today, the worry from the Biden camp is that the president and his administration might try to suppress the vote, something Biden called a “very real concern.”
“Well, first of all, to continue to shout from the rooftops: ‘Be careful — he’s coming,'” Biden told...
Three women hurl objects, attack Spirit Airline employees after flight delay, land in cuffs
Three Philadelphia women had what might be described as a spirited response to a flight delay at Florida’s Fort Lauderdale Airport on Tuesday night.
They “landed” in jail as a result, and their departure was postponed until the next day.
After getting through long TSA screening queues and whatnot, not-on-time departures are understandably frustrating for travelers, but this incident takes it to a whole other level.
Apparently upset over the delay to their return flight, they allegedly threw items such as shoes, water bottles, metal signs, and fast food at Spirit Airlines employees at the gate.
“[E]mployees were punched and kicked repeatedly,” after they allegedly charged Spirit workers behind the counter, the Philadelphia Inquirer claimed.
Spirit employees managed to calm things down after about a minute.
Fortunately, no one was seriously injured in the encounter.
A cell phone video of the encounter in Terminal 4 went viral on social media. See the footage embedded below.
In a statement, the airline explained that “Three guests became combative following a delayed flight, and they were arrested for physically assaulting our Team Members. Three of our Team Members sustained minor injuries.
“We thank our team members for their professionalism and quick actions, and we also thank the Broward Sheriff’s Office for their assistance …This violent behavior is completely unacceptable and has absolutely no place in airports or any other place of business. We will not tolerate abusive behavior of any kind. Further questions about this incident should be referred to law enforcement.”
The brawl prompted a big reaction on Twitter. Here is sample:
