The Top 5 Nutty New California Laws

Americans should be thankful for federalism.

Not only does this aspect of our Constitution allow states and localities to find the right mix of laws and policies that fit their needs, but it is often an essential barrier to the nuttiness of their neighbors.

On that front, California is Exhibit A.

Some of its new laws this year demonstrate just how far left the Golden State has gone. Some are merely obnoxious, others likely unconstitutional, but one thing is for sure—with complete Democrat control of the Legislature and Gavin Newsom in the governor’s mansion, more such laws undoubtedly are on the way.

Here are five top examples:

1. Straw Ban’s Virtue-Signaling

California, like a growing number of cities and states around the country, bought into a bogus study from a 9-year-old boy and decided to restrict use of plastic straws. California restaurants are now required to ask customers if they want straws before giving them out.

The whole initiative amounts to little more than environmentalist virtue-signaling, as some activists have admitted, but it could certainly have real consequences for businesses and customers.

The penalty for failing to comply with the law is a fine of up to $300, a fairly moderate penalty compared to some California cities.

Santa Barbara, according to the Washington Examiner, threatens repeat offenders under a similar law with a $1,000 fine and potential jail time.

2. Women on Corporate Boards, or Else

Companies located in California now have to include at least one woman on their corporate boards by the end of 2019. The law requires two women if the board has five members and three if it has over seven.

“We are not going to ask any more,” state Sen. Hannah-Beth Jackson said in a speech about the bill, the Los Angeles Times reported. “We are tired of being nice. We’re tired of being polite. We are going to require this because it’s going to benefit the economy. It’s going to benefit each of these companies.”

California is the first state to create such a law, but it mirrors ones tried in Europe.

Laying aside the likely unconstitutional intrusion into the private decisions of American businesses, evidence from similar European legislation shows that the laws mostly fail to help women in general, as well as unleash otherunintended consequences.

In Norway, companies found ways to dodge a law passed in 2006.

“The number of public limited firms in Norway by 2009 was less than 70 percent of the number in 2001, according to the study, while the number of privately held firms not subject to the gender quotas jumped by more than 30 percent,” The Washington Times reported.

Companies left, stock prices dropped, and women were no more likely to get jobs lower in the corporate hierarchy.

There was little evidence that the law actually made businesses “better,” as proponents proclaim.

3. Charter Schools and Sex Ed

California certainly comes up short when it comes to school choice. Unfortunately, a new law known as AB-2601 actively takes the movement backward.

The measure forces publicly funded but privately run charter schools to use the same sex education standards as public schools.

This doubles down on the one-size-fits-all standards that have led to failure for public schools to begin with. Worse, it imposes the kind of social engineering that prompts many parents to pull their children out of public schools.

Unsurprisingly, the nation’s largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood, celebrated the law on Twitter.

Here's some good news for your timeline: PPAC co-sponsored sexual health education bill for ALL public school students just got bipartisan vote in Sen. Education Committee. TY 2 @AsmShirleyWeber

As Inez Stepman, my wife, wrote for The Daily Caller:

Regardless of where you fall on what sex education is appropriate for children, parents ought to be in the driving seat when their kids confront these sensitive issues. Instead, progressive activists in California have managed to extend their dominion beyond the traditional public schools, and into charters.
Besides the obvious problem of mandated left-wing social engineering, it’s just bad policy to slap regulations on programs meant to be an alternative to public schools.

In addition to the problem of the state’s forcing an agenda on charter schools—in part defeating the point of school choice—a study by education experts Lindsey Burke, Corey DeAngelis, and Patrick Wolf shows that regulations on private school choice programs have had a detrimental effect on the programs (including lower enrollment and participation from higher performing schools).

4. Gender ‘X’ on Driver’s Licenses

California joined a growing list of states to embrace “nonbinary” driver’s licenses. That means there are now three options to choose from, instead of just male and female.

Under legislation known as SB 179, those who want to choose the third option for their licenses can request ...

Yet Another Rush to Judgment in New Allegations Against Trump Supporters

It is “unjust” for mainstream media members and liberals “to tar all Trump supporters as racists and haters” based on selective instances, Fox News host Laura Ingraham declared Thursday night on “The Ingraham Angle.”

“Empire” actor Jussie Smollett (pictured above right) accused two unknown Trump supporters of attacking him in Chicago in the wee hours of Tuesday morning.

Smollett, who is gay and African-American, claimed the attackers made homophobic and racist remarks to him.

Smollett alleged the men tried to throw a noose around his neck and yelled, “This is MAGA country!”

These hate-crime allegations horrified Americans.

Authorities are investigating the allegations, but so far they have found no video evidence of the attack itself on nearby surveillance cameras. Other questions arose after more details emerged.

“In the initial reports there was no mention of MAGA,” police said in a statement to People. “When detectives [followed] up with [Smollett] later in the day, he recalled the offenders making those comments and detectives completed a supplemental report.”

President Donald Trump condemned the alleged hate-crime attack on Thursday, saying at the White House, “That I can tell you is horrible. I’ve seen it. It doesn’t get worse.”

But it didn’t take long for many liberals and media members to blame the president and lump all of his supporters together as racists.

The same thing happened when media members and Democrats gave Native-American activist Nathan Phillips the benefit of the doubt after a video went viral showing his confrontation with Trump supporters.

The video showed an encounter between Phillips and MAGA hat-wearing teens from Covington Catholic High School in Kentucky — specifically, Nick Sandmann. The incident occurred after the March for Life rally in Washington, D.C., near the Lincoln Memorial.

People on social media at first targeted Sandmann and the other kids, accusing them of racism and assuming they’d approached and surrounded Phillips to mock him. But far more complete videos showed otherwise. Instead, it was Phillips who approached the teenagers while beating a drum and chanting. He got right up in Sandmann’s face and continued chanting for some time. Sandmann merely stood there.

Yet the damage was done — and as a result of messages spread by many in the media and others, the Covington teens received death threats and torrents of verbal abuse on social media targeting their faith, their political affiliation, and their families. Their school received bomb threats and their families were targeted.

“It’s now gotten so bad in America that wearing a Trump hat is basically considered a hate crime,” Ingraham said.

“The goal, my friends, is to brand an entire belief system as immoral, evil, toxic and of course it’s racist,” Ingraham added. “Liberals who used to love discourse … they now prefer the easier route: Just call someone a Nazi or a closet KKK member and you’re done.”

“This is the same hatred, of course, that we saw hurled at those Covington Catholic High School boys,” Ingraham noted. “Like lightning, the media instantly branded them as MAGA-hatted racists, products of an evil religious education who dared to disrespect this Native-American protester. Only later did we learn that it was the kids who had been...

America Created 304,000 Jobs in January, Smashing Estimates

It’s been cold outside but the American job creation machine was red hot in January.

The American economy added 304,000 jobs in January. The unemployment rate ticked up to 4.0 percent, the government said Friday.

Economists had expected 158,000 nonfarm payroll growth and the unemployment rate to hold steady at 3.9 percent.

December was revised down from the originally reported 312,000 to 222,000. That’s a very large revision. November’s report, which was originally reported at a very weak 155,000 and revised up to 176,000, was again revised to 196,000.

The manufacturing sector added 13,000 jobs in January, making its 12-month total 261,000. That was slightly lower than the 15,000 that economists had forecast but still evidence of healthy growth.

Job creation was widespread across the economy with hospitality, healthcare, construction, and transportation all recording a strong month. The only major sector to shed jobs was information services such as media and entertainment.

The federal government was shut down for the survey period covered by the January jobs report. But the Labor Department said it had no effect on jobs creation.

Job creation has been a particularly strong suit for the economy. Last year saw more job creation than the previous two years, with 2.6 million new jobs over the course of...

Democrats Approve Pay Raise for Officials Accused of Sexual Assault

House Democrats have approved a pay raise for federal employees accused of sexual assault, despite objections by Republicans.

The Republican proposal to amend H.R. 790, a bill to give raises to federal employees, would have frozen pay raises for those accused of sexual misconduct.

“During calendar year 2019, no increase in pay as authorized under this Act may be provided to any Federal employee who has been disciplined for sexual misconduct under chapter 75 of title 5, United States Code, or any other provision of law” the Republican amendment said.

Bigleaguepolitics.com reports: It was a simple attempt to provide real ramifications in the form of a financial hardship to those disciplined for sexual misconduct.

The proposal failed, with just 206 Congressmen voting for it, including only 17 Democrats.

Meanwhile, 215 Democrats voted against the proposal, and were joined by only one Republican.

While the proposal would not have been exclusive to representatives in Congress, it is worth noting that between the years 1997 and 2017, the United States government has paid out nearly $20 million to resolve cases of misconduct, some of which was sexual in nature, to employees within the U.S. Congress and other agencies within the legislative branch of government.

It would appear partisan Democrats in the House care more about appearances when it comes to the #MeToo Movement than they do about making meaningful changes that...

Devout Muslim neighbor sets little girl ablaze because she refused to have sex with him

Under Islam, he is entitled to her. Rape and sex slavery is sanctionedunder Islam. As I have explained numerous times, it is sanctioned and rewarded under Islam. Muslim clerics all over the world confirm the right to have sex slaves. It is in the Qur’an — the word of Allah.

Islamic doctrines command Muslim men to hate all non-Muslims and to see women—especially infidel women—as little more than sex objects (or, in the words of a Muslim who recently murdered a Christian girl in Pakistan for refusing him sex, “Christian girls are only meant for one thing: the [sexual] pleasure of Muslim men.”

Moreover, Islamic clerics routinely encourage Muslims to migrate to the West and help empower Islam anyway they can—including through propaganda, proselytization, apologetics, births, theft, etc.—and not just through violent jihad. If they do any of these, they technically become jihadis (after all and as the apologists are fond of insisting, jihad literally means “striving” on behalf of Islam.) Thus many Muslim rapists in Europe believe it is their Islamic right and reward to molest and rape infidel women. (more here)

The Quran:

Quran (33:50) – “O Prophet! We have made lawful to thee thy wives to whom thou hast paid their dowers; and those (slaves) whom thy right hand possesses out of the prisoners of war whom Allah has assigned to thee”

Quran (23:5-6) – “..who abstain from sex, except with those joined to them in the marriage bond, or (the captives) whom their right hands possess…”

Quran (4:24) – “And all married women (are forbidden unto you) save those (captives) whom your right hands possess.”

STORY:

A 35-year-old Maulana (a Muslim man revered for his religious learning or piety)allegedly poured petrol on a 12-year-old hindu girls of Dalit community, his neighbour, for refusing his sexual advances and set her on fire at Badinehall village in Kowthalam mandal of Kurnool district in Andhra Pradesh.

The condition of the girl is said to be critical. She was first admitted to Adoni general hospital and then was moved to Kurnool government general hospital. The Hospital authority also told that the patient was responding the treatment well.

Police identified the accused as Mohiuddin Saheb, who has reportedly been harassing the victim for several months. When the girl complained to her parents about the harassment, her parents reportedly warned their neighbour Mohiuddin to stay away from the girl. As retribution, he poured petrol on her and set her on fire on Saturday.

The incident occurred at about 8 pm on Saturday when the girl was going out to fetch some groceries on the lonely road.

Seeing her in lonely, the Moulana got excited to sex with the girl, perhaps being inspired by Pedophile Prophet’s act to sex with 9 yrs old Ayesha, prophet’s 3rd out of his 19 wives and concubines+. As the girl refused to sex with the Moulana, the culprit became furious and set ablaze the victim brutally.

After setting the girl on fire, Moulana Saheb ran away.

Passers by who were attracted by the screams of the girl rushed to the spot and found her on fire.

As per report, the culprit Maulana was...
