As someone who has lived in the area (central Florida) since well before Trayvon got shot, and so I paid attention to the case (I've read the police report and trial transcripts), that's not what he was doing the night he got shot. Everything he did was legal and above board, UNTIL, mere feet from his dad's door, where he would have been safe, he told his Miami girl friend who he was talking to on the phone, that he was going to "hunt that cracker down and teach him a lesson" (or words to that effect). That's according to HER testimony. There had been a rash of break-ins in the neighborhood by young black males, but there was never evidence Trayvon was one of them. On the night in question, he was just walking back to his dad's house from a convenience store. If he had just gone inside, told his dad what had happened (when dad came home 2 days later), maybe dad would have told neighborhood watch that he was visiting, and he'd still be alive. Instead, he turned around, stalked Zimmerman, then attacked him, and while in the process of beating Zimmerman's head into the concrete, he got shot. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
