Capitol Investigation Seeks to Criminalize Political Dissent

The government's response to the January 6 melee isn’t about justice. It’s about partisan retribution and revenge. And the consequences will be disastrous.

n the early hours of March 12, FBI agents in southwestern Florida barricaded a neighborhood to prepare to raid the home of one resident. Christopher Worrell of Cape Coral was arrested and charged with several counts related to the January 6 Capitol melee. Even though Worrell had been cooperating with the FBI for two months, the agency nonetheless unleashed a massive, and no doubt costly, display of force to take him into custody.

Law enforcement agents, according to one neighbor who spoke with a reporter, wore “whole outfits . . . like military and it was crazy. There was like six or seven . . . big black vehicles. They busted down the front door.” The raid included “armed men with helmets and a tanker truck” and was partially executed by the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force.

Worrell never entered the Capitol building on January 6; he isn’t accused of committing a violent crime. But a D.C. judge overturned a Florida judge’s ruling to release Worrell pending further review of his case. He remains in jail.
Ginning Up “Domestic Terrorism”

Worrell’s arrest is the latest in what the U.S. Department of Justice warned would be an “unprecedented” investigation leading to sedition charges filed against American citizens. Attorney General Merrick Garland pledged to make the Capitol Breach manhunt his top priority; on his first day in office, he received an update on the investigation from FBI Director Christopher Wray. Garland has compared January 6 to the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing that killed 168 people, including 15 children.

Roughly 300 people have been arrested so far, many of them transported to Washington, D.C. to await trial and dozens denied bail after federal prosecutors argued the defendants, including a high school senior from Georgia, pose a threat to the nation.

The Capitol Breach probe, the department’s official title, is a flagrant political prosecution targeting Trump supporters. Every display—from heavy-handed FBI raids to a militarized Washington, D.C.—is designed to portray the President Trump’s allies as domestic terrorists.

The differences between how the government is handling the January 6 defendants and other so-called protestors could not be more stark. For example, a Portland investigative reporter found the Justice Department has dropped more than one-third of the federal cases related to last summer’s riots in that city, with more to come. Only about a dozen people have been arrested for last week’s rioting in Portland, which included attacks on a federal courthouse.

But the violence in Portland is different, according to Merrick Garland, who said during his confirmation hearing the Capitol attack was “domestic terrorism” because the January 6 protestors attempted “to disrupt democratic processes.” The term doesn’t apply to attacks on the Portland courthouse, Garland claimed, because those only happen at night when...

Calls For Biden White House To Act On Border Crisis Continue To Grow

With the White House failing to act on the current border crisis, several GOP lawmakers are now stepping in.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) are set to lead a Senate delegation to the southern border. The two senators announced they will accompany a group of lawmakers at the Rio Grande Valley next week to give them a tour of the border and hold a roundtable with local leaders.

The number of apprehensions at the U.S.-Mexico border is set to hit a record high.

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas defended the response by the Biden White House to the surge, saying the region was on track to see more people trying to enter than any time in the last two decades.

However, Republicans are continuing to blame the latest quandary on Biden’s soft immigration stance.

“The safety and security of Americans and our border is the job of the president,” House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) said. “He is the one who created this and he is the one who can fix it.”

Republican leaders have taken aim at Biden’s reluctance to visit the border or acknowledge the growing situation.

In the meantime, calls to recognize the crisis are even coming from across the aisle, as Democrats are breaking the White House’s description of the ongoing surge of migrants.

American Grievance Culture Is Infecting The World.

Sylvana Simons, once with the Islamist Denk party, is a black anti-racism activist calling for the "decolonisation" of education and the Dutch language. She is one of the hopeful candidates in the country's general election.

The election program of her party BIJ1 is even more leftist on socio-economic issues than the Socialist Party, and more progressive than D66 on issues such as equality and inclusion.

The municipalities of Amsterdam and Rotterdam have recently had their own role in the slavery past investigated, and are now considering apologizing to the descendants of the enslaved. But the majority of Dutch voters do not think these apologies are necessary. Simons is a passionate supporter of reparations and sees it as proof of the necessity of the BLM movement in the Netherlands.

Other parties are still “insufficiently” aware of how deeply systemic racism is present in the Netherlands, she believes. She wants to tackle discrimination directly in education, in the labour market as well as the housing market. And she believes it is in everyone’s interest that the system of unequal treatment is tackled by the government as soon as possible, “because you yourself could also be the victim next time”.

According to Simons, BIJ1 has received thousands of hateful private messages, comments, emails, posts and tweets. The party has selected 52 messages for her “Black Manifesto”. The far-left Hotline for Discrimination in the Amsterdam Region helped the party to make a selection.

BIJ1 refers to online hatred and threats as part of a larger social problem, in which open racism and sexism go unpunished. According to the party, people are getting away with breaking the law on a large scale because the authorities now do not want or cannot deal with it properly. The legal possibilities and powers to prosecute people for online hatred are too currently limited. The party has called for mass censorship.

That is a political choice, according to BIJ1, who advocated more legislation to stop online hatred. “Anyone who speaks out in our country can expect extra hatred,” said Simons. “But enough is enough. This should stop now. I will continue to fight until the legal system works well for every woman of colour and for everyone else.” Simons was mocked by Geert Wilders in 2016 when she requested full-time security because of “hatred”. The round-the-clock isolation of Geert Wilders due to Islamist threats has lasted almost two decades already.

Florida Sheriff Delivers Perfect Response To Gun Control Group's Request

Kudos to Florida-based Second Amendment journalist Lee Williams for finding this story: the sheriff of Sarasota County is saying “no thanks” to a meeting with the local chapter of the gun control group Brady. Williams, a former reporter for the Herald-Tribune now has his own newsletter (which I encourage every gun owner to support) that focuses on 2A news and issues, and he got ahold of the letter from Sheriff Kurt Hoffman responding to the group’s request for an interview.

Dear Mr. McLain and Ms. Rescigno,

Thank you for your recent request to meet. I am very familiar with the bradyunited.org 12- point platform and I have fundamental differences regarding nearly every objective of Brady. I am a member of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, the 2nd Amendment Foundation, in addition to being a Life Member of the NRA. I have been a law enforcement officer in this state for over 32 years, eight years of which were as an Assistant State Attorney, and I am satisfied that the laws on the books in Florida sufficiently protect this community from gun violence.

As a board member of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, let me thank Sheriff Hoffman for his support as well as for his measured and professional response to Brady. Of course, the local gun control activists who were hoping for a confab don’t exactly see it that way.

Conyne Rescigno said Brady received the letter from Hoffman Friday.

“We tried to meet with the sheriff via a few…phone requests for a few months. We meet with most elected officials, candidates and others who are in a position to help the people of Sarasota. Seldom have we been turned down (we met with his predecessor, Sheriff (Tom) Knight, a few years ago). Our goal is always to let them know Sarasota has a Brady chapter and to see if there are ways we can work together,” she said.

Kaitlyn Perez, community affairs director for the sheriff’s office, said the Brady chapter reached out to the sheriff’s office twice in recent weeks requesting a meeting with Hoffman.

Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) told Breitbart News on Tuesday that President Joe Biden’s “open border policy” and promises of amnesty are an “invitation” for illegal immigration, human smuggling, and sex trafficking operations run by transnational criminal cartels.

“What we are seeing is a true surge at the border,” Blackburn said on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily with host Alex Marlow. “It is a crisis, and this is a crisis of the Biden administration’s making. “Of course, we know that people are coming from countries all over world to illegally enter,” she remarked. “You have China and the Middle East [as] some of the areas that are paying the most, and working with the cartels to get passage into the U.S., and this should be of concern to every single U.S. citizen, because when you have an open border policy, when you are having these illegal immigrants coming into the country, you are not testing them for COVID, you are encouraging the drug cartels, because the borders are open, the wall construction has stopped, and then they are going into every single community and every town becomes a border town.”

Blackburn went on, “Every state becomes a border state because of the impact of drugs and gangs and human trafficking and sex trafficking. … This is where the American people need to stand up and be the people, and push it back on their members of the Senate and the House who may be sitting there on their hands saying nothing to this administration.”

“[Elected officials] need to work with their local law enforcement to be certain that the police have the tools and the training that they need to deal with the impacts that come from an open border,” Blackburn stated. “I’m working on legislation that would push forward putting the Migrant Protection Protocols from the Trump administration into law, because Joe Biden and [Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas] have basically taken our nation’s immigration policy and … torn them up like Nancy Pelosi tore up that State of the Union speech last year.”
