Students asked not to eat smelly food in library to respect peers observing Ramadan

A whiteboard message at Oregon State University’s library asks students to try to avoid eating foods, especially smelly foods, in shared spaces to be considerate of those who are observing Ramadan.

The Muslim holy month this year runs from about May 15 to June 14. During this period, Muslims are obligated to fast from dawn until sunset. Presumably, the sign was made to encourage non-observers to not eat foods with strong smells because it would make Muslim students’ hunger worse, or that it might be disrespectful.

“Ramadan Mubarak! Try to avoid eating in shared spaces especially if your food has a strong smell,” the message said. “Thanks for being considerate!”

In addition, the University Housing and Dining Services at Oregon State is also making concessions for those observing Ramadan. Many dining halls on campus extended their dining hours later into the night to around 9:30 or 10:00 p.m., past their 8 p.m. normal closing time, to give observers more places to eat after the sun goes down, according to The Daily Barometer. The dining halls will still open at their normal opening time of 7 a.m.

Of the roughly 24,000-plus students at Oregon State, the Muslim population on campus is around 1,500, according to Mohammad Shakibnia, the public relations and outreach officer for the Muslim Student Association, in an interview with The Daily Barometer.

The Muslim Student Association declined to comment to The College Fix.

The College Fix made multiple attempts to reach out to university chief spokesman Steve Clark but did not get a response in time for the publication of this article.

It is not unheard of for a university to work with Muslim students during this time.

During last year’s Ramadan, three University of Washington professors offered special exam times for those observing the tradition. The professors held their...

ILLEGAL ALIEN RAPED 6-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN NORTH CAROLINA

WILMINGTON, NC (The Wilmington Star-News) – A Wilmington man has been charged with statutory rape of a 6-year-old girl.

Alfredo Transisto Duran-Rivas, 29, allegedly raped the girl between July 24, 2017, and April 27, 2018, according to the arrest warrant. He was charged with statutory rape of a child by adult, statutory sex offense with child by adult, and indecent liberties with a child.

The Source Behind Anti-Trump Steele Dossier, Sergei Millian, Offered Papadopoulos $30K a Month to Be His Trump White House Operative

  • Trump campaign aide George Papadopoulos was target of “suspicious” approaches, his wife claims
  • Simona Mangiante wonders if Papadopoulos was targeted for entrapment
  • A dossier source allegedly offered Papadopoulos $30,000 a month to work from inside Trump administration
In the wake of the revelation that an FBI informant lured George Papadopoulos to London during the 2016 campaign, the former Trump campaign adviser has grown skeptical of many of his contacts during and after the election, his wife says.

Papadopoulos’ contacts with the FBI informant — a former University of Cambridge professor named Stefan Halper — have been widely reported over the past several weeks. The 30-year-old Chicago native’s interactions with Joseph Mifsud and Alexander Downer, two diplomats who are key to special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian meddling in the election, are also well known.

Simona Mangiante, Papadopoulos’ wife, is now drawing attention to two other encounters that Papadopoulos has had over the past two years that she considers “highly suspicious.” One of those contacts offered to pay Papadopoulos $30,000 a month while he worked inside the Trump administration.

“It looks to be one among a series of attempts to entrap George. The question today to me [is whether] these people are simply shady businessmen or are they part of a greater attempt to entrap George in illegal activity,” Mangiante, a former attorney in the European Parliament, told The Daily Caller News Foundation.

One of the people who has raised red flags is Sergei Millian, a Belarus-born businessman who is alleged to be a major source for the infamous Steele dossier. Papadopoulos also had a mysterious encounter with an Israeli national on the Greek island of Mykonos, Mangiate, who married Papadopoulos in March, said.

TheDCNF has not found evidence that Millian or the Israeli national attempted to set up Papadopoulos. Neither responded to requests for comment.

Papadopoulos and Millian met for the first time at around the same time the FBI opened its counterintelligence investigation, code-named “Crossfire Hurricane,” TheDCNF has learned.

That probe started on July 31, 2016, reportedly based on information passed to the U.S. government by Downer, the Australian high commissioner to the U.K. Downer and Papadopoulos met at a London bar on May 10, 2016. There, Downer says Papadopoulos made reference to Russians having possession of information that would be damaging to then-Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

Mangiante, an Italian national, confirmed to TheDCNF that Millian is the individual Papadopoulos described in a July 22, 2016 Facebook message that is cited in documents the special counsel’s office released in October.

“On or about July 22, 2016, PAPADOPOULOS messages Foreign Contact 2 on Facebook to ask whether Foreign Contact 2 knew a particular individual with extensive ties to Russian-based businesses and persons,” reads an affidavit released along with Papadopoulos’ guilty plea. “PAPADOPOULOS asked Foreign Contact 2 ‘[i]f you know any background of him that is noteworthy before I see him, kindly send my way.'” (RELATED: George Papadopoulos’s Fascinating Link To The Dossier)

Papadopoulos pleaded guilty on Oct. 5 to lying to the FBI during a January 2017 interview about the timing of his contacts with Mifsud, a Maltese professor and former diplomat. The pair met several times during the campaign.

The “Foreign Contact 2” referenced in the Facebook message is Ivan Timofeev, a Russian academic affiliated with a think tank with close links to the Kremlin. Timofeev and Papadopoulos met through Mifsud. Papadopoulos was told Timofeev had connections to the Russian Ministry of Affairs.

Papadopoulos and Millian met days after the July 22, 2016 Facebook message, said Mangiante, who has recently denied that Papadopoulos was engaged in collusion with Russians.

Mangiante also said that Papadopoulos and Millian met multiple times in Chicago and New York City before the election. In one encounter in Chicago, Millian offered Papadopoulos a substantial sum of money as part of an energy-related business deal.

The catch was that Millian said Papadopoulos would have to remain in the Trump administration while carrying out the work.

The business offer has been previously reported by The New York Times and NBC News. However, Mangiante is providing new details, saying that Millian offered Papadopoulos “$30,000 a month to work as a consultant while with Trump.”

“He refused of course,” Mangiante said of Papadopoulos.

Though Millian is allegedly a source for the Steele dossier, it is unclear whether Papadopoulos is referenced in the 35-page report, which remains largely unverified.

Millian is reportedly the source for some of the salacious allegations in the dossier, which includes 17 separate reports dated from June 20, 2016 to Dec. 13, 2016. Millian was identified as both “Source D” and “Source E” in the dossier, The Wall Street Journal reported on Jan. 24, 2017, three days before the FBI first interviewed Papadopoulos.

In the first report of the dossier, “Source D” alleged that the Kremlin was blackmailing now-President Donald Trump with video footage of him engaged with prostitutes in a Moscow hotel room in 2013.

Another memo from late-July 2016 cites “Source E” as saying “that there was a well-developed conspiracy of co-operation between [the Trump campaign] and the Russian leadership.”

“Source E,” who claimed to have contacts in the Trump campaign, said that the operation was managed by Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, using Carter Page, a Trump campaign adviser, as a conduit to the Kremlin. The source also claimed that “the Russian regime had been behind the recent leak of embarrassing e-mail messages, emanating from the Democratic National Committee (DNC), to the WikiLeaks platform.”

Both Page and Manafort have denied ever speaking to each other. Page vehemently denies allegations about him in the dossier. He has also said he had one or two brief interactions with Papadopoulos while on the campaign.

Millian, who runs an obscure trade group called the Russian-American Chamber of Commerce, has denied being a source for the dossier, though he has not...

Obama Administration Illegally Allowed Iran To Convert Money In Dollars...

Anything for the deal that Iran NEVER Signed.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration secretly sought to give Iran access — albeit briefly — to the U.S. financial system by sidestepping sanctions kept in place after the 2015 nuclear deal, despite repeatedly telling Congress and the public it had no plans to do so.

An investigation by Senate Republicans released Wednesday sheds light on the delicate balance the Obama administration sought to strike after the deal, as it worked to ensure Iran received its promised benefits without playing into the hands of the deal’s opponents. Amid a tense political climate, Iran hawks in the U.S., Israel and elsewhere argued that the United States was giving far too much to Tehran and that the windfall would be used to fund extremism and other troubling Iranian activity.

The report by the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations revealed that under President Barack Obama, the Treasury Department issued a license in February 2016, never previously disclosed, that would have allowed Iran to convert $5.7 billion it held at a bank in Oman from Omani rials into euros by exchanging them first into U.S. dollars. If the Omani bank had allowed the exchange without such a license, it would have violated sanctions that bar Iran from transactions that touch the U.S. financial system.

The effort was unsuccessful because American banks — themselves afraid of running afoul of U.S. sanctions — declined to participate. The Obama administration approached two U.S. banks to facilitate the conversion, the report said, but both refused, citing the reputational risk of doing business with or for Iran.

“The Obama administration misled the American people and Congress because they were desperate to get a deal with Iran,” said Sen. Rob Portman, R-Ohio, the subcommittee’s chairman.

Issuing the license was not illegal. Still, it went above and beyond what the Obama administration was required to do under the terms of the nuclear agreement. Under that deal, the U.S. and world powers gave Iran billions of dollars in sanctions relief in exchange for curbing its nuclear program. Last month, President Donald Trump declared the U.S. was pulling out of what he described as a “disastrous deal.”

The license issued to Bank Muscat stood in stark contrast to repeated public statements from the Obama White House, the Treasury and the State Department, all of which denied that the administration was contemplating allowing Iran access to the U.S. financial system.

Shortly after the nuclear deal was sealed in July 2015, then-Treasury Secretary Jack Lew testified that even with the sanctions relief, Iran “will continue to be denied access to the world’s largest financial and commercial market.” A month later, one of Lew’s top deputies, Adam Szubin, testified that despite the nuclear deal “Iran will be denied access to the world’s most important market and unable to deal in the world’s most important currency.”

Yet almost immediately after the sanctions relief took effect in January 2016, Iran began to complain that it wasn’t reaping the benefits it had envisioned. Iran argued that other sanctions — such as those linked to human rights, terrorism and missile development — were scaring off potential investors and banks who feared any business with Iran would lead to punishment. The global financial system is heavily intertwined with U.S. banks, making it nearly impossible to conduct many international transactions without touching New York in one way or another.

Former Obama administration officials declined to comment for...

Report Found Evidence Of Discrimination At Evergreen College…Against A White Male Professor

This is a very interesting story about a little-discussed issue that took place at Evergreen College last year. Two professors, one a white male and the other a Hispanic woman, were investigated after filing complaints against one another. The school hired a Seattle law firm to investigate and the firm concluded that while there was no evidence the white man discriminated against the Hispanic woman, there was evidence that the Hispanic woman had violated the school’s non-discrimination policy with regard to the white professor. This story is not easy to summarize but I’ll do my best using the hour-long video by Evergreen grad Benjamin Boyce (below) as a guide. I do recommend Boyce’s entire video if you have the time.

Professor Jon Baumunk teaches business and accounting at Evergreen State College. Last year he received an annual review which he took issue with. The review was mostly positive toward him and his teaching but at one point his supervisor mentioned his race (he’s white) and wondered aloud if students of color in his class felt free to speak up in his class. Baumunk asked the university to revise his review and remove the reference to his race on the grounds that it’s a protected characteristic and not something that belongs in a performance review. At the same time Baumunk, who is a member of the union at Evergreen, filed a grievance asking that the union support him.

Evergreen State College agreed with Baumunk and agreed to revise the review and remove the language and acknowledged that the race or sex of a professor is never mentioned in performance reviews, but the school seems to have taken its time correcting the review. Meanwhile, the union decided that it would not back Baumunk’s proposed grievance against the school because his review was seen as largely positive and so the reference to his race was deemed immaterial.

In March of last year, Baumunk went to the office of the president of his union, Grace Huerta, and asked why the union wasn’t supporting him. At this point, the stories diverge. Baumunk says he spoke to Huerta for five minutes and that she almost immediately became very defensive. Huerta claims Baumunk cornered her and spoke for 20 minutes, making her worry about missing a meeting. Both parties agreed the exchange had been unpleasant and agreed not to speak to one another again.

That changed on May 24th when Baumunk and Huerta had another interaction in the office of President George Bridges. The incident came in the midst of the student takeover of Bridges office which occurred that day. During that incident, Baumunk spent 2 1/2 minutes defending himself to the students. Huerta then spoke up and said she didn’t take his claims seriously because he had confronted her, a minority faculty member, at her office back in March. “As a faculty member of color, you personally addressed and challenged me at my office door saying why didn’t we as a union protect you when we did our best to protect you and address your concerns. And yet you come to a faculty member of color and charge her for not protecting your needs. So I refuse to listen to you grandstand and co-op this student meeting.”

In response to this, Baumunk took one small step forward, pointed at Huerta and said…something. It’s not clearly audible on the recording because students are talking over him. I do hear him say, “Grace, I want to tell you something…” but that’s all I can make out. As the students reacted, Baumunk stepped back and put his hands in his pockets. But it was too late. Students in the room demanded he leave and at least one demand he be fired (shades of the mob that showed up at Prof. Bret Weinstein’s class demanding he resign).

Subsequently, Baumunk was called out at a large student meeting where he was described as lunging and charging at Huerta (which didn’t happen). A student asked him to stand up and said he would be held accountable for his aggressive, privileged behavior. I have this clip queued up to a video showing the exchange between Baumunk and Huerta and the harassment of Baumunk that followed at the student meeting. It’s about 3-4 minutes long. Baumunk is the guy in the red shirt. You can stop watching around 8:30:

So, as mentioned above, after this incident, a Seattle law firm was hired to investigate the competing claims. And what the firm found, in a report which has been buried by the school, is that Baumunk’s approach to Huerta in March was reasonable and based on her position (as the head of the union) not her protected status as a Hispanic woman. That’s a win for Baumunk.

As for the May interaction seen in the video, the report concluded that Baumunk did not direct his comments toward Huerta or raise any of her protected characteristics when speaking. He did point at her (just as she had waived a piece of paper at him) but certainly never lunged or charged at anyone.

However, Huerta’s comments to Baumunk did relate to his (and her own) protected characteristics in a way that is at odds with Evergreen State College’s non-discrimination policy “as well as a significant body of....

Muslim YouTube user arrested after livestreaming bomb threat hoax at University of Washington

It was just a prank. There was no actual bomb. But it was good for laughs, right? What could be funnier than announcing to a roomful of Infidels that they’re about to die a horrible death? And it has the added bonus effect of striking terror in the hearts of the enemies of Allah (cf. Qur’an 8:60).

“Arab Andy” is just an irresponsible and reckless prankster who has now gotten himself into serious trouble by taking his pranks too far. That he would choose to do this particular prank is a dispiriting sign of the times.

“Jammal Harraz charged with bomb threat over ‘Arab Andy’ YouTube prank video,” by Andrew Blake, Washington Times, June 2, 2018:
Police have charged a person with making a bomb threat over a stunt streamed live on the internet from the University of Washington this week.

Jammal Hassan Harraz was arrested Thursday evening over an apparent prank broadcast live on YouTube from a classroom inside the university’s Seattle campus.

Mr. Harraz remained in jail Saturday after a judge set bail at $75,000, according to the King County Sheriff’s Office website. He’s due back in court June 5, Seattle’s KOMO News reported.

Footage originally streamed from the “Arab Andy” channel on YouTube showed the incident unfolding moments after a...

Shocker! White Supremacist Kidnapping of Black Youth Was a Hoax

Teen Zavion Parker, 13 years old, said he was robbed and kidnapped after getting off his school bus last month. The kidnappers told him they did it because he is black. He described the adult and four young men who grabbed him as white supremacists.

Zavion claimed to have been pulled into a red truck taken to a home and beaten.

Michelle Lee, the teen’s mother, told Eyewitness News her son managed to escape the gun-wielding kidnappers.

“The reason why they got him was because they said he was black. ‘You deserve to die.’ Exactly his words,” Lee told ABC13 in May. “Saying the dad had, like, a white muscle shirt on, and you could see it, was right here big as day. ‘I hate black people.'”

The mother said she received texts from the kidnappers.

“I’m going to kill him,” someone wrote to Lee, in text messages shared with Newsweek. The person claimed they were “not a kid” and admitted to kidnapping Zavion. Lee said the messages have been given to Houston Police.

The suspects who allegedly kidnapped Zavion told the boy they had abducted him “because you’re black,” Ms. Lee told Newsweek. The adult driver, who was described by Houston Police to KTRK as a heavily built white man with straight orange hair, has a racial tattoo on his....

YOU MADE HIM DO IT: Mitch McConnell Cancels Senate Vacation In Order To Push Trump Agenda

The liberal media is buzzing madly this last hour following Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s surprise announcement he will be canceling the upcoming August recess in order to allow the Senate to push for passage of more of President Trump’s America First agenda.

And guess who forced him to do so? YOU DID. That’s right, if you are among the millions of Donald Trump supporters out there it’s you who now has the Republican leadership bending the knee and acknowledging you hold the keys to the party’s future.

The Republican Party is Trump’s party. That is an undeniable fact now and while Establishment Republicans hate that thought – they cannot deny its truth.
If they are to hold on to the Senate and the House they must appear to be fighting with the president and not against him. That is the reason for McConnell’s move to cancel the August recess. Yes, it’s largely a publicity stunt more than a substantive move to more fully embrace the Trump agenda, but nevertheless, it signals the power of Trump and those who support him.

It also means the seats of power are subtly shifting as well. The Freedom Caucus is more powerful than ever while McConnell-like Republicans have seen their control over the party lessening.

Now if only that canceled August recess could be used to bring an end to the ridiculous and phony...

Top Army brass upholds no-prison sentence for Traitor Bowe Bergdahl

Gen. Robert B. Abrams, Commanding General,
U.S. Army Forces Command
A top Army general on Monday approved the sentence that was handed down on former Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, who did not receive any prison time after pleading guilty in October to desertion and misbehavior before the enemy after deserting his outpost in Afghanistan. He was held captive by the Taliban for five years.

Military Judge Col. Jeffery Nance in November ruled that Bergdahl will not serve prison time after being accused of desertion and misbehavior before the enemy.

Chief of U.S. Army Forces Command Gen. Robert Abrams upheld the sentence on Monday.

Bergdahl was sentenced to a drop in rank from sergeant to private, forfeiture of $10,000 in pay, and a dishonorable discharge from the military, which means he will not be eligible to receive medical or other benefits.

A top Army general on Monday approved the sentence handed down to Pvt. Bowe Bergdahl, the former Taliban captive who was spared prison time after pleading guilty to desertion and misbehavior charges last year.

He could have served a life sentence in prison. The prosecutors said Bergdahl should receive 14 years in prison and a punitive discharge from the military. Bergdahl’s defense attorneys had argued in favor of leniency, and said he should receive a dishonorable discharge and no prison time – that he has faced enough punishment after five years of captivity.

After Bergdahl left his post in 2009, he was held as a Taliban prisoner until 2014, when the Obama Administration was able to get him back to the United States through a prisoner swap. Bergdahl was released in exchange for five Guantanamo Bay detainees. His sentencing hearings were held in military court at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and lasted several days.

Nance had said he would still be able to hand down a fair sentence, despite comments made by President Donald Trump that Bergdahl was a “traitor.” Nance had delayed the start of the hearings by two days when the defense filed a last-minute motion over comments Trump had made in the past as a candidate, and again as...
