The Final Flight of Extortion 17

A few minutes past 2 a.m. on August 6, 2011, at a dusty forward operating base 40 miles south of Kabul, Afghanistan, the rotors of two U.S. Army CH-47D Chinooks began to turn. Operating with no lights save for the faint green glow of night vision goggles and cockpit instrument panels, the two helicopters, call signs Extortion 17 (“one-seven”) and Extortion 16, lifted into the darkness and accelerated toward a destination less than 20 miles west.

Extortion 17 and its 38 occupants would not return. A Taliban fighter shot the helicopter out of the sky with a rocket-propelled grenade and all aboard were killed—the single greatest loss of American life in the Afghan war. Those killed ranked among the world’s most highly trained and experienced commandos, including 15 men from Gold Squadron of the Naval Special Warfare Development Group, popularly called SEAL Team 6. Just three months earlier, members of a counterpart SEAL Team 6 squadron successfully raided a compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, and killed Osama bin Laden. In light of that raid’s success, the shootdown of Extortion 17 incited a flurry of conspiracy theories: The Taliban were tipped off; it was a trap; it was retribution for the killing. No evidence has emerged to support any of these claims. Instead, two rigorous U. S. military investigations followed every moment of the mission to determine what went wrong on Extortion 17’s final flight.

The mission had begun about four hours prior to the shootdown, when the two helicopters touched down side by side in Juy Zarin, a village in the bare rock-walled Tangi Valley of Wardak Province. As two U.S. Army AH-64 Apache attack helicopters, an Air Force AC-130 gunship, and a small fleet of unmanned surveillance aircraft orbited overhead, a platoon of the 75th Ranger Regiment and members of an Afghan special operations unit stormed down the rear ramps of the Chinooks and into the night. Their target: an Afghan named Qari Tahir and his group of fighters. Intelligence had revealed Tahir to be the senior Taliban chief of the Tangi Valley region, with probable ties to upper-echelon Taliban leadership in Pakistan. As the ground assault force rushed toward Tahir’s compound, Extortion 17 and 16 sped back to base, where they were refueled, and awaited word to extract the team, evacuate wounded, or race reinforcing troops to Juy Zarin.

Psycho Chicken

The first time I heard Psycho Chicken, I was on an Army Base in Germany inside a beer tent, sitting with some friends and drinking beer during Octoberfest in the 80's.

Every year, this Army base would host the German-American Octoberfest on the base, inside the gates, and allow German nationals to enter in order to drink beer with Americans and foster good will with the locals (they were generally mildly hostile).

Anyways, on the stage was a pretty good cover band, playing some good 'ole Rock and Roll.  On an Army base in the 70's and 80's there were a few songs that a band had to cover, Sweet Home Alabama, Free bird, and... I think my memory is failing me here...
So then I heard Psycho Chicken for the first time. Really cool bass line, I loved the lyrics and the guitar play was really interesting. I had to find out what band it was from.

I'm not sure how I know this, but the Military has to approve of a band, and all their songs and lyrics must be approved before they are allowed to go on the Military circuit and play on the bases all across Europe (which was much more extensive than it is now). And this is how Psycho Chicken came to be. The band had to change the lyrics from "Psycho Killer" to "Psycho Chicken" in order to be able to play it on Military bases.

In some ways I was disappointed and in some ways I liked the new title, because back then I was one of those "Long Haired, Maggot Infested FM Types", according to the great Rush Limbaugh.

Iranian national detained by Palm Beach police had knives, ax, machete, 22 thousand dollars in cash...

Police in Palm Beach, Florida have detained an Iranian national armed with knives, the Daily Mail reports.

WPTV reports that the man was taken into custody at the Flagler Memorial Bridge on Friday and he also had an undisclosed amount of cash on him.

The Flagler Memorial Bridge is four miles from President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club, and the arrest comes after Iranian officials offered a $80,000,000 bounty on the President’s head.

An investigation is currently open, and local police are cooperating with federal authorities.

It comes days after Iranian officials offered an $80 million bounty for the murder of President Donald Trump.

Daily Mail also reports that there are also “reports of police activity at Palm Beach International Airport, where sources say a bomb unit was called in to check the Iranian man’s car at the airport’s short term parking lot.”

Susan Rice Lies Again -- Obama and Soleimani

Susan Rice was a little less ubiquitous this time around than during her infamous five-talk-show world tour repeating the lie that the Benghazi terrorist attack was the fault of an inflammatory video and not due to the criminal negligence of President Barack Hussein Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton. But there she was again on MSNBC’s “Rachel Maddow Comedy Hour” defending her former boss, this time against charges that President Trump cleaned up more of Obama’s Iran mess by terminating the life and reign of terror of Iranian Gen. and Quds Force Commander Qassem Soleimani:
The Obama administration wasn’t presented with the opportunity to take out Gen. Qassem Soleimani, who was killed by a U.S. airstrike in Baghdad early Friday, former national security adviser Susan Rice said Friday night.

“Had we been presented such an opportunity, what we would have done is weigh very carefully and very deliberately the risks versus the potential rewards,” Rice told MSNBC's Rachel Maddow….

Rice questioned whether Trump made the right decision.

“So, if in fact the administration can be believed that there was indeed strong intelligence of an imminent threat against the United States that’s being carried out by Soleimani and related militia then the question becomes [was] there more than one way to address that threat?” she told Maddow. “Was the only way to deal with it to kill Soleimani? Certainly, given his history and track record, he deserves his just rewards but the question is does that serve our interests? Does that make us more secure?”
Uh, yes it does, Susan. The Trump administration is certainly more believable than you and the Obama administration was in explaining why four Americans were abandoned to die in Benghazi, including Amb. Christopher Stevens. Because Trump killed Soleimani, the American embassy did not turn into another Obama-Clinton-Rice Benghazi tragedy.

The “reward” is that Soleimani can no longer ply his murderous trade and the families of the 600-plus Americans killed by his explosively-formed-penetrators can take some solace in his occupation of a special place in Hell. Those maimed by this butcher can take heart in that not enough pieces of him were found to have an open casket. And what were the risks? That those shouting “Death to America!” might try to kill us?

According to a 2018 report in the Daily Beast, Obama launched 186 drone strikes in Yemen, Somalia, and Pakistan during just his first two years in office. If he wanted to, he could have found and killed him. He killed Osama bin Laden, and took credit for it, even though the legwork was done by the preceding Bush administration. Osama bin Laden was killed while Obama was president, not because he was president

Obama didn’t want to kill Soleimani. He wanted the nuclear deal sellout with Iran, and killing Iran’s Quds Force commanding general would not have advance the deal. Better for Obama to release $150 billion to the Iranians and fly in some $1.8 billion in cash and drop it on an Iranian tarmac in the middle of the night. Quid pro quo, anyone? Obama not only didn’t pursue Soleimani as a matter of policy, he provided Soleimani and Iran with a terrorist-and-weapons slush fund to...

Trump Administration Hits Iran With Major New Sanctions, Retaliates for Missile Strike

Speaking from the White House Friday morning, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin announced new sanctions on sectors of the Iranian economy and Iranian officials. The sanctions, which are part of the administration's ongoing maximum pressure campaign, are aimed at stopping Iranian terrorism and preventing the regime from obtaining a nuclear weapon.

"The President has been very clear, we will continue to apply economic sanctions until Iran stops its terrorist activities and commits to never having a nuclear weapon," Mnuchin said.

The new sanctions apply to the steel and textile industries, in addition to 17 Iranian metals producers and mining companies. Eight Iranian officials involved in the Iranian armed forces, the Basic militia and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps have been directly targeted sanctioned for involvement in terrorism, slaughtering innocent Iranian protestors in the streets and for launching the missile attack against U.S. troops stationed at Al Asad airbase in Iraq earlier this week.

"They had the full intention of killing U.S. forces," Pompeo said about the missile attack, which was launched in retaliation for the killing of Iranian terrorist leader Qassem Soleimani. "As long as Iran's outlaw ways continue, we will continue to impose sanctions."

"We're striiking at the heart of the Iranian regime's inner security apparatus," he continued. "The goal of our campaign is to deny Iran resources for its destructive foreign policy."

When asked about the imminence of attacks against U.S. Embassies or other American targets in the region from Soleimani, Pompeo again explained the threat and why he was taken off of the battlefield.

"It was very clear Qassem Soleimani was planning broad attacks against Americans," he said. "There was an imminent attack, there was active plotting."

In addition, President Trump has signed an executive order that "targets additional sources of revenue used by the Iranian regime to fund and support its nuclear program, missile development, terrorism and...

Forrmer FBI Unit Chief confirms government computer intrusion approved by Rod Rosenstein against Attkisson

Attorney and former FBI Unit Chief Les Szwajkowski confirms he facilitated forensic exam that revealed government surveillance spyware in Attkisson’s computer

As part of a new lawsuit, Attkisson v. Rosenstein et.al., former FBI Unit Chief Les Szwajkowski has signed a sworn Affidavit confirming the government intrusion into journalist Sharyl Attkisson’s computers.

Read: Former government agent admits participating in government’s spy operation against Attkisson

Szwajkowski headed up the FBI’s Electronic Surveillance Technology section. He was integral in implementing a law expanding the FBI’s wiretapping capabilities.

According to Szwajkowski, a colleague first contacted him in Fall 2012 to ask for assistance in getting Attkisson’s CBS computer analyzed for possible anomalies. Szwajkowski says he met Attkisson in January 2013 and had her computer examined by a confidential source: a forensic specialist trained in spyware detection. This specialist reportedly had access to information about government intrusion tools and technology.

The specialist quickly identified spyware proprietary to the federal government in Attkisson’s computer, according to Szwajkowski. He advised Attkisson that he and his intel associates were “shocked” that the government had used covert surveillance on a national journalist and he said they thought it was “outrageous.”

Szwajkowski says he reported to Attkisson that the analysis showed clear evidence that her computer was infiltrated with government spyware proprietary to the CIA, FBI or National Security Agency (NSA). Forensics indicated the particular intrusion uncovered by the analysis was accomplished through software attached to an otherwise innocuous email sent to Attkisson in February 2012.

The government intrusion of Attkisson’s computer was “redone” in July 2012 though use of a BGAN satellite terminal and “refreshed” at a later date using WiFi within a Ritz-Carlton hotel. The unauthorized programs were running constantly on Attkisson’s CBS laptop and included a keystroke program that monitored everything typed on the computer, every site visited, and remotely accessed the computer’s screen view.

Les Szwajkowski, former FBI Unit Chief, Affidavit in Attkisson v. Rosenstein, et. al.
Attkisson is suing former U.S. Attorney Rod Rosenstein for allegedly ordering the illegal surveillance on her and her family without going through the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) court. She is also suing four former government agents allegedly implicated in the scheme. Numerous other Americans were also reportedly targeted by...

President Trump Touts New Rule as Way to Build and Improve Roads, Bridges Faster

President Donald Trump announced a new administration policy Thursday to boost the nation’s infrastructure without spending more tax dollars.

The administration proposed a new rule under existing law to expedite environmental reviews, cutting the length of review by more than half of the average of five-to-seven years per project.

The law, called the National Environmental Policy Act, has long stalled major construction for highways and bridges.

“From Day One, my administration has made fixing this regulatory nightmare a top priority, and we want to build new roads, bridges, tunnels, [and] highways bigger, better, faster, and we want to build them at less cost,” Trump said at the White House.

The Trump administration has pushed an aggressive deregulatory agenda, and the president often has talked about streamlining environmental reviews.

The administration contends that “modernizing” environmental reviews likely would lower costs for state and local road projects.

“That is why, for the first time in over 40 years, today we are issuing a proposed new rule under the National Environmental Policy Act to completely overhaul the dysfunctional bureaucratic system that has created these massive obstructions,” Trump said.

Since President Jimmy Carter signed the measure into law in 1978, the Council on Environmental Quality has made just one substantive amendment to related regulations—in 1986, according to the White House.

On average, it takes five years to complete an environmental impact statement for a project, and seven years for highways.

“The United States will not be able to compete and prosper in the 21st century if we continue to allow a broken and outdated bureaucratic system to hold us back from building what we need. The roads, airports, schools...

As Part Of Settlement With Nick Sandmann, CNN Hosts Must Wear MAGA Hats During All Broadcasts

ATLANTA, GA—According to a report, as part of the settlement with Nick Sandmann, CNN hosts will be required to wear MAGA hats throughout every broadcast.

"Let the punishment fit the crime," counsel for Sandmann said as Don Lemon, Chris Cuomo, Anderson Cooper, and Wolf Blitzer all solemnly donned Make America Great Again caps.

Hosts were seen with downcast expressions as they commented on the day's events, MAGA hats in place.

CNN hosts must also finish every broadcast by saying, "Good night, and I am a big, fat dummy, while Trump is the best president we've ever had."

In 2019 Over 90% of Illegal Aliens Arrested in U.S. Had Criminal Convictions Or Pending Charges

More than 90% of illegal immigrants arrested by federal agents in the United States last year had criminal convictions or pending criminal charges, including 56,000 assaults and thousands of sex crimes, robberies, homicides and kidnappings. Many had “extensive criminal histories with multiple convictions,” according to Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) year-end report. The 123,128 illegal aliens arrested by the agency’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) in 2019 had 489,063 criminal convictions and pending charges, representing an average of four crimes per alien, highlighting the “recidivist nature” of the arrested aliens, the agency writes, noting that sanctuary cities nationwide greatly impeded its public safety efforts.

The Dallas ICE field office, which covers north Texas and Oklahoma, led the way with 16,900 arrests in fiscal year 2019. The overwhelming majority,12,578, were convicted of crimes and 3,499 had pending criminal charges. The Atlanta field office, which is responsible for enforcing immigration law in Georgia as well as South and North Carolina, ranked second with 13,247 arrests, 8,009 of them convicted for state crimes. Another 3,943 illegal aliens had pending criminal charges. Atlanta field office leadership has repeatedly blasted local law enforcement officials within its jurisdiction for releasing droves of illegal immigrant criminals back onto the streets after being jailed for serious state crimes, accusing the sanctuary jurisdictions of creating a “serious public safety threat.”

In North Carolina alone, hundreds of violent criminals were released by local authorities last year to honor measures that offer illegal immigrants sanctuary. Among them were illegal aliens charged with serious violations such as homicide, kidnapping, arson and sex offenses. Mecklenburg County, the state’s largest, was among the biggest offenders, releasing numerous violent criminals rather than...

Iran Likely Downed Ukraine Airliner With Missiles, Canada’s Trudeau Says, Citing Intelligence

A view shows the area where an Ukraine International Airlines plane crashed after take-off from Iran's Imam Khomeini airport, on the outskirts of Tehran, in this handout Maxar's WorldView-2 satellite image taken January 9, 2020.

A Ukrainian airliner that crashed in Iran, killing all 176 people aboard, was likely brought down by an Iranian missile, Canada’s prime minister, Justin Trudeau, said on Thursday, citing intelligence from Canadian and other sources.

The destruction of the airliner, which carried 63 Canadians, “may well have been unintentional,” Trudeau told a news conference in Ottawa.

“We have intelligence from multiple sources, including our allies and our own intelligence. The evidence indicates that the plane was shot down by an Iranian surface-to-air missile,” he said.

The Ukraine International Airlines flight to Kiev from Tehran crashed on Wednesday hours after Iran fired ballistic missiles at two U.S. military bases in Iraq, and Iranians were on high alert for a U.S. military response. https://tmsnrt.rs/36Fn26m

Trudeau said his government would not rest until it had obtained closure, transparency, accountability and justice.

Earlier on Thursday, a U.S. official, citing an extensive review of satellite data, said Washington had concluded with a high degree of certainty that anti-aircraft missiles brought down the plane. The official said the Boeing 737-800 had been tracked by Iranian radar.

The U.S. government believes Iran shot down the plane by mistake, three U.S. officials told Reuters.

The data showed the plane was airborne for two minutes after departing Tehran when the heat signatures of two surface-to-air missiles were detected, one of the officials said.

That was quickly followed by an explosion in the vicinity of the plane, the official said. Heat signature data then showed it on fire as it went down. Heat signatures are infrared emissions detected by...
