Following the money has always been the surest way to finding where a politician’s true loyalties lie.
Peter Schweizer, a senior contributor for Breitbart and author of such exposés as Clinton Cash and Profiles in Corruption, said on Fox News’ The Next Revolution that McConnell’s “position on China has softened over the years,” a change Schweizer attributed to the growing relationship between the Chinese government and the Chao family’s company.
“Really, it goes to the fact that Mitch McConnell and Elaine Chao, his wife, are financially tied to the Chinese government,” Schweizer explained. “And it comes through the shipbuilding company that Elaine Chao’s family owns. That relationship was forged in December of 1993 when James Chao, Elaine Chao’s father, Elaine Chao, and the new son-in-law, Senator Mitch McConnell, visited Beijing, China, at the invitation of the China state shipbuilding corporation.”
“This was a coup to Beijing because Tiananmen square had happened just four years earlier. Very few high officials went there,” the author continued. “The result of that meeting and the deals that followed is that today the Chinese government finances the construction of the ships for the shipbuilding company, they build the ships, they provide the crews for the ship, and they provide the cargo for the ship.”
He went on to explain that Beijing could immediately end its dealings with the shipbuilding corporation if it wanted to, which would be bad for McConnell. The Chinese government, according to Schweizer, only does business with this corporation because of McConnell’s role as a powerful U.S. Senator.
“So, the Chinese government could pull the plug tomorrow on this business. And the reason they’re doing business with them, let’s make it clear, is because Mitch McConnell is a very powerful figure in Washington, D.C. And the problem is … that his position on China has softened over the years the closer that this commercial relationship has become, and he’s a direct beneficiary of what this business does.”
Per Schweizer, this is the “strategy” communist China uses around the world. “They seek out political elites and give them commercial deals,” he said, adding that the McConnells are “wedded to the Chinese. They don’t want to anger the Chinese because they could destroy their families financially.”
McConnell will remain Majority Leader until noon on January 20, with the inauguration of Joe Biden. Kamala Harris’ ascendance to the vice presidency will give Democrats (due to the vice president’s role as president of the Senate with tie-breaking ability) the voting majority they need to assume control of the chamber.
As The New American has previously reported, McConnell is apparently pleased with the impeachment of President Trump, seeing it as a way to purge the party of him.
Nevertheless, in the battle for the hearts of Republican voters, Donald Trump remains the unquestioned victor. Polling shows that a solid majority of the base still supports the president’s recent behavior and would like him to be the 2024 presidential candidate.
It should be noted that McConnell’s wife, Elaine Chao, was until recently President Trump’s secretary of transportation. She resigned from the post in response to the Capitol breach on January 6.
“Yesterday our country experienced a traumatic and entirely avoidable event as supporters of the President stormed the Capitol following a rally he addressed,” wrote Chao in a letter to colleagues in the Department of Transportation. “As I’m sure is the case with many of you, it has deeply troubled me in a way that I simply cannot set aside.”
McConnell has shown himself to be, if anything, an astute and cunning politician who knows how to stay at the center of Washington politics and use the influence of his office for his own financial benefit, constantly winning over the...

Stephen K. Bannon Pens ‘Victory is at Hand’ Message to MAGA from Danbury Prison.
What follows below is a short opinion editorial by former Trump chief strategist Stephen K. Bannon, who remains a political prisoner of the Biden-Harris government at Danbury prison in Connecticut.
The National Pulse is proud to publish these exclusive remarks from Bannon, who is due for release in just over a month’s time, days before the U.S. Presidential election.
Victory is at hand.
Recent shifts in the few reliable polls in key districts and swing states show that hard-pressed Americans are decisively rejecting the phony “politics of joy” and the empty promises that define the Harris campaign. People are seeing through the word salad rhetoric, recognizing it for what it is: hollow.
To date, the Harris campaign has offered no real solutions to the struggles Americans face: inflation, rising crime, and weakening national security. These topics can’t be masked by feel-good phrases, celebrity endorsements, or as many Oprah interviews as you want.
Harris has peaked. The momentum is now on our side, and this is the time to capitalize on it.
If the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement focuses all of its efforts on a massive get-out-the-vote and ballot-chasing effort in the crucial days and weeks until November 5th, we will win and win big.
The stakes have never been higher; this is the opportunity to take back control. We are not just fighting for a win; we are fighting for the future of America. A victory of this magnitude means sweeping control of the House, Senate, and the Presidency. With this trifecta, we can destroy the policies that have harmed Americans and put the country back on track.
The reality is that there is no significant group of “undecided” voters left regarding the candidates themselves. People know where they stand when it comes to President Trump and his opponents. What remains unclear for some is whether they will actually participate in the voting process.
These are the individuals who will decide this election. With relentless effort and personal contact, they will break our way. It’s our job to engage with them, ensure they understand what’s at stake, and motivate them to cast their ballots.
President Trump risks his life daily to save our country. Every day, he faces tremendous opposition and challenges, but he continues to fight for the American people.
Through your work, show him that you have his back. Let’s demonstrate our commitment to this cause by putting everything we have into these final weeks.
Remember: Victory is at hand.

Kamala Harris Backs Publicly Funded Health Care for Illegal Immigrants
In May of 2019, Kamala Harris unequivocally told CNN’s Jake Tapper that she would make no distinction between American citizens and illegal immigrants on a broad array of measures. When Tapper referred to benefits for “people who are in this country illegally,” Harris replied: “Let me just be very clear about this. I am opposed to any policy that would deny in our country any human being from access to public safety, public education or public health, period.” Joe Biden’s position on the same matter has been murky: Like all of the other Democrats on stage he raised his hand when Savannah Guthrie asked, “Raise your hand if your government plan would provide coverage for undocumented immigrants.” His campaign later claimed that Biden meant only that undocumented immigrants could purchase health insurance via Obamacare. But Biden was specifically asked about Medicare and Medicaid last June, and he said, “Look, I think that anyone who is in a situation where they are in need of health care, regardless of whether they are documented or undocumented, we have an obligation to see that they are cared for.”
Free Healthcare Would Draw Illegals Like Magnet To Steel:
Harris’s campaign got off to a terrible start last January when she blithely said, also on CNN, that she would eliminate private health insurance, though she later walked back that position.
“The idea is that everyone gets access to medical care and you don’t have to go through the process of going through an insurance company, having them give you approval, going through all the paperwork, all of the delay that may require,” Harris initially said. “Who of all us have not had that situation where you have to wait for approval and the doctor says, ‘I don’t know if your insurance company is going to cover this.’ Let’s eliminate all of that. Let’s move on.” She later clarified that by saying she was talking about eliminating bureaucracy and waste, not private health insurance, but as late as June 27 of last year, she was one of only two candidates at a Democratic debate who raised their hands when asked whether anyone would eliminate private health insurance. The next day she claimed she had misunderstood the question, which was “Many people watching at home have health insurance through their employer. Who here would abolish their health insurance in favor of a government-run plan?” Only Harris and Bernie Sanders raised their hands.
The Democratic Party position is usually slightly more nuanced: It involves not eliminating private health insurance directly but putting it out of business indirectly, so as to maintain plausible deniability with the aid of the media. First step: Set up a public option, or “Biden plan.” This would, of course, wipe out all private health insurers, as Joe Biden frankly admitted in his New York Times editorial board interview, because no private company would be able to compete with...

GENERAL MARK MILLEY’S SECOND ACT: MULTIMILLIONAIRE
In the classroom, the boardroom, and at the speaker’s dais, the Chinese apparatchik and former chair of the joint chiefs cashes in.
SINCE RETIRING FROM the military last year, former Chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Army Gen. Mark Milley has become a senior adviser to JPMorgan Chase bank, joined the faculties of Princeton and Georgetown, and embraced the lucrative paid speaking circuit. From military pay of $204,000 a year, Milley is sure to skyrocket to compensation in the millions, especially because he is represented by the same high-powered speakers’ agency as Hillary Clinton, who faced criticism in 2016 for her paid speeches to investment bank Goldman Sachs.
Called “cashing in” by military officers, transitioning from capped government salaries to defense industry, private consulting for global risk management, or work with venture capital brings in lavish paydays. For retired generals, the invasion is swift. The recently retired chief of space operations for the Space Force, Gen. John W. “Jay” Raymond, for example, has joined the board of directors for aerospace companies Impulse Space and Axiom Space, as well as becoming senior managing director for investment firm Cerberus Capital Management. Gen. James C. McConville, who served as chief of staff of the Army before retiring last year, has joined the board of directors of drone manufacturer Edge Autonomy and aerospace investment firm AE Industrial Partners, as an operating partner.
Milley’s speaker’s agency, Harry Walker Agency is touting the retired general, who crossed swords with former President Donald Trump and continues to be a polarizing figure, for his insights on leadership and international conflicts. “His perspective is invaluable for audiences looking to understand the impact of current conflicts and managing risks on boards of directors and leadership teams who are responsible for making strategic decisions and identifying...

AG Merrick Garland Calls Voter ID Laws ‘Unnecessary’
Attorney General Merrick Garland on Sunday said his agency is “fighting back.”
Attorney General Merrick Garland on March 3 declared that efforts by states to implement voter ID laws are “unnecessary” and “burdensome,” drawing the ire of Republicans.
While speaking at a church Selma, Alabama, the attorney general was commemorating the 59th anniversary of the targeting of demonstrators by Selma police during an early civil rights protest.
He said that the right to vote “is still under attack,” though he provided little evidence in his speech for how requiring identification would be an assault on voting rights.
“There are many things that are open to debate in America,” Mr. Garland stated. “One thing that must not be open for debate is the right of all eligible citizens to vote and to have their vote counted.”
The attorney general said the Department of Justice is “fighting back” against states that have passed bills requiring identification that would prove such eligibility to cast ballots.
“One of the first things I did when I came into office was to double the size of the voting section of the civil rights division,” Mr. Garland said. “That is why we are challenging efforts by states and jurisdictions to implement discriminatory, burdensome, and unnecessary restrictions on access to the ballot, including those related to mail-in voting, the use of drop boxes, and voter ID requirements.”
“Those measures include practices and procedures that make voting more difficult; redistricting maps that disadvantage minorities; and changes in voting administration that diminish the authority of locally elected or nonpartisan election administrators,” he said. “Such measures threaten the foundation of our system of government.”
The attorney general also accused courts of issuing rulings that, according to him, imperil U.S. voting rights.
“Court decisions in recent years have drastically weakened the protections of the Voting Rights Act that marchers on the Edmund Pettus Bridge bled for 59 years ago,“ he said. ”And since those decisions, there has been a dramatic increase in legislative measures that make it harder for millions of eligible voters to vote and to elect the...

SCOTUS Unanimously Rules States Cannot Disqualify Trump from 2024 Ballot
WASHINGTON, DC – Colorado cannot disqualify former President Donald Trump from appearing on the 2024 ballot, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled unanimously Monday.
In a historic ruling, the Supreme Court said only Congress can disqualify a candidate from the ballot using the Fourteenth Amendment’s “Insurrection Clause,” overturning a 4-3 opinion in December from the Colorado Supreme Court that the provision prohibits former President Donald Trump from appearing on the ballot for the presidency in 2024.
That ruling partially reversed a prior ruling in November that Trump is not an officer of the United States as defined by the Fourteenth Amendment and that the Amendment therefore cannot be used to disqualify him from appearing on the Colorado primary ballot.
This is the first time the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled on Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment.
The court wrote:The court went on to note that Congress did so by passing the Enforcement Act of 1870.Proposed by Congress in 1866 and ratified by the States in 1868, the Fourteenth Amendment expanded federal power at the expense of state autonomy and thus fundamentally altered the balance of state and federal power struck by the Constitution. […]The court continued:
Section 3 works by imposing on certain individuals a preventive and severe penalty—disqualification from holding a wide array of offices—rather than by granting rights to all. It is therefore necessary, as Chief Justice Chase concluded and the Colorado Supreme Court itself recognized, to ‘ascertain what particular individuals are embraced’ by the provision. […]
Chase went on to explain that to accomplish this ascertainment and ensure effective results, proceedings, evidence, decisions, and enforcements of decisions, more or less formal, are indispensable. […]
The Constitution empowers Congress to prescribe how those determinations should be made. The relevant provision is Section 5, which enables Congress, subject of course to judicial review, to pass “appropriate legislation” to “enforce” the Fourteenth Amendment. […]
This case raises the question whether the States, in addition to Congress, may also enforce Section 3. We conclude that States may disqualify persons holding or attempting to hold state office. But States have no power under the Constitution to enforce Section 3 with respect to federal offices, especially the Presidency. […]
Granting the States that authority would invert the Fourteenth Amendment’s rebalancing of federal and state power. […]
Nor have the respondents identified any tradition of state enforcement of Section 3 against federal officeholders or candidates in the years following ratification of the Fourteenth Amendment. Such a lack of historical precedent is generally a telling indication of a severe constitutional problem with the asserted power. […]
The patchwork that would likely result from state enforcement would sever the direct link that the Framers found so critical between the National Government and the people of the United States as a whole. […]
Barrett said that the majority decided more than necessary, and she doesn’t want to join that.
However, she also says, “All nine Justices agree on the outcome of this case. That is the message Americans should take home.”
“In our view, each of these reasons is necessary to provide a complete explanation for...

The Left Demands Millions of Human Sacrifices to Appease the Gods of Climate Change
“At their Monday night poker game in hell,” writes Mark Steyn, “I’ll bet Stalin, Hitler, and Mao are kicking themselves. ‘It’s about leaving a better planet for our children?’ Why didn’t we think of that?”
These three evil socialists of yesteryear would certainly be green with envy at the way today’s green socialists have convinced millions of citizens to willingly surrender their liberty to the State.
“The ruling classes of the fading West are determined to save the planet by immiserating their fellow citizens,” writes Joel Kotkin. He continues:
Their program calls not only for fewer people and fewer families, but also for lower consumption among the masses. They expect us to live in ever smaller dwelling units, to have less mobility, and to endure more costly home heating and air-conditioning. These priorities are reflected in a regulatory bureaucracy that, if it does not claim justification from God, acts as the right hand of Gaia and of sanctified science. This apparent religiosity highlights an interesting sort of logical somersault for modern progressives. On the one hand, they believe it to be primitive “Christian Nationalism” to assert, as all documents associated with America’s Founding do, that our natural rights were endowed to us by God, rather than some government edict written by a government official somewhere. On the other hand, high priestesses like Nancy Pelosi assure the faithful that hurricanes on the Gulf Coast and wildfires on the West Coast are signs that “Mother Earth is angry,” and is visiting her vengeance upon us.
Quite literally, today’s party of The Science™ is an apocalyptic doomsday cult which fears the wrath of deities that are personified by nature, complete with the sacrifice of countless children.
“Access to safe abortion is a right, a moral imperative,” says Gabby Bess in her article at Vice. This article is wisely silent on the question as to who or what bestows this “right” among women to voluntarily kill their unwanted babies, but we can safely assume it’s not the Christian God that was recognized by the Founders as having bestowed upon us a right to life.
On a global scale, 73 million babies are killed in the womb every year, or roughly 200,000 killed per day. In America alone, 1-in-5 women who become pregnant kill their babies, at a rate ranging between 1,500 and 2,500 per day.
But that’s not enough to satiate Mother Earth’s bloodlust, suggest Robert N. Proctor and Londa Schiebinger at the Yale School of the Environment.
“Voluntary family planning is too often ignored as a means to lower carbon emissions,” they offer. The killing of 73 million babies resulting from unintended pregnancies might be a good start, but those are rookie numbers, I guess, given that “as many as 121 million pregnancies each year are unintended.” Ostensibly, every “unintended” pregnancy results in a child who should be killed before he or she has the opportunity to add “4.5 tons of carbon into the air annually” by simply...

Does President Trump have that missing CIA binder that the Deep State is sooooo desperate to find? New info emerges…
Where’s the binder? That’s the burning question echoing through the swampy marshes of DC, and it’s been hanging in the air for some time. Rumor has it, this binder is packed with the real story behind the Russia Hoax—a narrative that deviates sharply from the widely reported “tip” originating from our Australian pals. Insiders suggest this saga didn’t kick off on some whim but was a coordinated effort by the CIA, Obama, and the FBI. CNN, of course, spins it as a dossier uncovering Russia’s plot to meddle in elections. Yet, the buzz among those in the know hints it’s more about how the US played its own hand in the 2020 election meddling saga.
CNN:
A binder containing highly classified information related to Russian election interference went missing at the end of Donald Trump’s presidency, raising alarms among intelligence officials that some of the most closely guarded national security secrets from the US and its allies could be exposed, sources familiar with the matter told CNN.
Its disappearance, which has not been previously reported, was so concerning that intelligence officials briefed Senate Intelligence Committee leaders last year about the missing materials and the government’s efforts to retrieve them, the sources said.
In the two-plus years since Trump left office, the missing intelligence does not appear to have been found.
The binder contained raw intelligence the US and its NATO allies collected on Russians and Russian agents, including sources and methods that informed the US government’s assessment that Russian President Vladimir Putin sought to help Trump win the 2016 election, sources tell CNN.
The intelligence was so sensitive that lawmakers and congressional aides with top secret security clearances were able to review the material only at CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia, where their work scrutinizing it was itself kept in a locked safe.
That binder is thought by many to be in President Trump’s possession, and that’s the real reason the FBI raided Mar-a-Lago.
Thanks to the tireless work of investigative journalists Michael Shellenberger and Matt Taibbi, we’ve got an explosive update on that infamous binder.
And speaking of traitorous events, CBS reporter Catherine Herridge recently hinted at a “black swan” event possibly unfolding in 2024. Curiously, right after making this claim, she found herself out of a job. It raises the question: Is...

CDC Labeled Accurate Articles as Misinformation, Documents Show
‘This is not government working for the people, it is government as adversary to the people,’ one expert says.
The top U.S. public health agency labeled multiple news articles as misinformation even though the articles were accurate, according to internal emails and experts.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) added the misinformation labels to articles from The Epoch Times in widely-circulated internal messages, according to copies obtained by The Epoch Times.
One of the articles reported on a peer-reviewed paper that found heart inflammation, or myocarditis, was more common after COVID-19 vaccination than after COVID-19 infection.
Nordic researchers reviewed electronic health records and counted 109 cases of myocarditis following COVID-19 infection compared to 530 after vaccination. Their study was published by the British Medical Journal.
An internal CDC email said that the study “has been picked up by anti-vax proponents as evidence that vax was more likely to cause myocarditis than COVID-19 infection,” and provided a hyperlink to The Epoch Times article.
The Feb. 7, 2023, email listed the article under “points of confusion/potential rumors/misinformation.”
The CDC did not list any data or other information supporting its label.
“The Epoch Times article should not be labeled as misinformation,” Dr. Tracy Hoeg, a physician-scientist at the University of California-San Francisco, told The Epoch Times via email.
Dr. Hoeg said the Nordic study aligned with earlier research, including a paper published by JAMA Cardiology that found myocarditis rates were higher among some populations after vaccination compared to after infection.
Another CDC email claimed a story reporting on how the U.S. government was receiving royalty payments from Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine was inaccurate or misleading.
The Epoch Times article reported on how Moderna officials disclosed in an earnings call that the company entered a patent agreement with the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), sent a payment of $400 million, and would be paying additional royalties in the future.
“Anti-vax proponents question Moderna’s new patent agreement with NIAID, citing catch up payments and royalties as a ‘conflict of interest,” the CDC email, dated March 1, 2023, stated.
The Epoch Times article quoted Dr. Lawrence Tabak, the director at the time of the NIAID’s parent agency, as admitting royalty payments in general present “an appearance of a conflict of interest.”
The CDC defines employees taking part in matters in which they have a financial interest as a conflict of interest, while the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the parent agency of the CDC, says that financial conflicts of interest can compromise honesty “especially if the financial interests are significant.”
“It is certainly interesting that, confronted with possible ethics concerns, the CDC doesn’t address them but dismisses them as ‘misinformation,'” Michael Chamberlain, director of the nonprofit Protect the Public’s Trust, told The Epoch Times via email.
The CDC also labeled an Epoch Times video featuring a doctor describing data on COVID-19 vaccines negatively impacting gut health as misinformation, the emails show, even though the video was based on published research.
“The information contained in these documents illustrates how federal health officials so rapidly squandered the trust of the American public, and it shows the danger of government setting itself up as an arbiter of...

Here Are All The States Standing With Texas Against Biden’s Border Assault
More than two dozen states expressed support for Texas Gov. Greg Abbott after he refused to kowtow to the Biden administration’s bullying about the ongoing border crisis.
The Supreme Court ruled on Jan. 22 that the federal border officials could cut razor wire installed by the Texas National Guard along the Rio Grande if they felt it impeded their ability to do their jobs. Abbott announced on Wednesday, Jan. 24, that he would uphold the law by allowing his state’s National Guard to continue their operations, especially in high-traffic illegal crossing areas like Eagle Pass, Texas.
He emphasized that the Lone Star State has a constitutional right to defend itself against the 10 million migrants who have illegally crossed into the U.S. under President Joe Biden.
“The federal government has broken the compact between the United States and the States. The Executive Branch of the United States has a constitutional duty to enforce federal laws protecting States, including immigration laws on the books right now,” Abbott wrote. “President Biden has refused to enforce those laws and has even violated them. The result is that he has smashed records for illegal immigration.”
His declaration received an outpouring of support from Republicans, including former President Donald Trump, House Speaker Mike Johnson, former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, several members of Congress, and more than a dozen state leaders.
Wyoming
“Wyoming stands in solidarity with Governor Abbott and the State of Texas in utilizing every tool and strategy to secure the border and protect American citizens,” Gov. Mark Gordon wrote on Jan. 25. “We are all border states now.”
Iowa
Iowa supports Texas’ border fight, Gov. Kim Reynolds confirmed on Jan. 25.
“When the federal government fails, states step in. Iowa sent the Iowa National Guard and State Troopers down to the border last year to stop this invasion. Iowa stands with Texas,” she wrote on X.
Reynolds deployed 109 soldiers from the Iowa National Guard to aid Texas’ border operations last August.
Arkansas
Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced on Jan. 25 that she backs Abbott’s decision to uphold the law in Eagle Pass, Texas.
“If President Biden won’t defend us, states will have to defend themselves. Arkansas stands with Texas,” she wrote on X.
In the summer of 2023, The Natural State Republican deployed the Arkansas National Guard to aid the Lone Star State’s mission to “combat illegal immigration, drug trafficking, and human trafficking at the border due to the failed policies of the Biden Administration.”
“President Biden’s failure at our southern border puts the entire country at risk. States must now step up where the President has failed to repel illegals, fight the cartels, and stop human and drug trafficking,” Sanders said in a statement.
Montana
“Montana stands with Texas,” Montana Gov. Greg Gianforte said on Jan. 25.
Gianforte joined Abbott in raising alarms about the border crisis when Biden took office in 2021.
“Since [Biden] took office, more than 10 million illegal immigrants have crossed our open southern border. That’s 10x the population of Montana,” he wrote in another post.
Idaho
Gov. Brad Little said Texas and Abbott have his state’s support as they continue to secure the border, fight fentanyl, and combat human trafficking.”
Idaho will continue to step up, even when [Biden] won’t,” Little wrote on X on Jan. 25. “The lawless southern border threatens the lives of all Americans, including Idahoans.”

Arizona GOP Chairman Resigns Amid Kari Lake Bribery Allegations
The chairman said he was ’set up' by Ms. Lake’s team. Ms. Lake’s campaign denies his claims.
The chairman of the Arizona Republican Party said he resigned from his role on Jan. 23 after a recording of him was leaked that apparently showed him offering U.S. Senate candidate Kari Lake money to stay out of that race.
In his resignation statement, Jeff DeWit suggested that Ms. Lake’s team allegedly secretly recorded their conversation before leaking it to the media. He also accused her team of threatening to release more recordings, which he described as being taken out of context, although he provided few details.
“I said things I regret, but I realize when hearing Lake’s recording that I was set up,” Mr. DeWit said in a statement. “I believe she orchestrated this entire situation to have control over the state party and it is obvious from the recording that she crafted her performance responses with the knowledge that she was recording it, intending to use this recording later to portray herself as a hero.”
He said the recording and release of the audio was tantamount to a “deceptive tactic” and said it was a “selectively edited audio recording.”
“This is all such a distraction to that mission that I am doing as Ms. Lake wishes and am stepping down as Chairman of the Arizona Republican Party,” he said.
Going further, Mr. DeWit said his relationship with Ms. Lake was “based on friendship” and the “conversation that is now being scrutinized was an open, unguarded exchange between friends in the living room of her house,” according to the statement.
“I genuinely believed I was offering a helpful perspective to someone I considered a friend,” he said.
“I received an ultimatum from Lake’s team: resign today or face the release of a new, more damaging recording. I am truly unsure of its contents, but considering our numerous past open conversations as friends, I have decided not to take the risk.”
A spokesperson for the Lake campaign released a statement on Jan. 23 saying the “tape speaks for itself” and noted that Ms. Lake “rejected DeWit’s multiple attempts to offer her money and corporate board seats in exchange for Kari not running for public office.”
No one from her campaign “threatened or blackmailed DeWit,” the campaign said in the statement. The campaign didn’t respond to claims that he was secretly recorded or how the audio reached the media.
Representatives of Ms. Lake didn’t respond by press time to a request by The Epoch Times for comment.
The Daily Mail, a British tabloid, first reported on the audio recording on Jan. 23, apparently revealing a March 2023 conversation between Mr. DeWit and Ms. Lake months before she announced that she was running for Arizona’s U.S. Senate seat. She said in the recording that she won’t take any offers.
“So, the ask I got today from back east was: ‘Is [sic] there any companies out there or something that could just put her on the payroll to keep her out?’” Mr. DeWit said, according to the recording.
According to the recording, Ms. Lake said, “This is not about money; this is about our country.
“I think it’s disturbing.
“I’m not going to let these people back in D.C. tell me not to run. I’m not going to pause for two years. The battle is now. I’m offended by whoever these people are that they are trying to buy me out.”
Later, Mr. DeWit said there were “very powerful people” who wanted her to drop out of the race.
“There are very powerful people who are gonna keep you out,” he said. “But they’re willing to put their money where their mouth is in a big way.”
Ms. Lake, a prominent supporter of former President Donald Trump who ran for governor of Arizona in 2022, also called for Mr. DeWit to resign after the Daily Mail released the audio.
“He’s gotta resign. We can’t have somebody who’s corrupt and compromised running the Republican Party. I want corruption rooted out of our government. I don’t care what’s on the Democrat side or the Republican side. We are going to root out corruption,” she said.
“You don’t put somebody in a position with a conversation like that. I’ve had a very terse relationship with him. I thought he should have resigned a long time ago.”
Mr. DeWit, who served as the chief financial officer for NASA during the Trump administration, was elected to...

Millions of Illegal Aliens Are Costing Taxpayers Hundreds of Billions. Biden Couldn’t Care Less.
Joe Biden has transformed America’s southern border into a humanitarian catastrophe and a national security nightmare. This bloody, deadly mess is a clear and present danger to this republic.
But this also is a massive fiscal threat. Biden’s obliteration of the border is evaporating federal, state, and local coffers.
Precise figures on anything illegal are, by definition, elusive. Nonetheless, the Federation for American Immigration Reform’s report, “The Fiscal Burden of Illegal Immigration on United States Taxpayers 2023,” estimates that taxpayers bleed $182.1 billion in annual benefits to illegal aliens. That includes $66.4 billion in federal spending and an additional $115.7 billion in state and local outlays to those who have broken into America.
“No sweat!” illegal-alien apologists argue. “They work hard, pay taxes, and pull their own weight.”
If only.
“Taxes paid by illegal aliens only cover around 17.2% of the costs they create for American citizens,” FAIR calculates. That includes $16.2 billion in federal taxes and $15.2 billion in state and local levies. These $31.4 billion still stick U.S. citizens with 82.8% of the illegal immigrants’ $150.7 billion annual tab.
Extrapolating that figure suggests that—since Biden took control three years ago Saturday—these foreign invaders have siphoned some $452 billion from the U.S. Treasury, statehouses, and city halls across America.
Specifically:
Federal
- Welfare: $11.6 billion
- Medical: $23.1 billion
- Law enforcement/justice: $25.1 billion
- Education: $6.6 billion
State and local
- Welfare: $2 billion
- Medical: $18.6 billion
- Law enforcement/justice: $21.8 billion
- Education: $73.3 billion
Every penny of this largesse is avoidable. Sealing the southern frontier and requiring that immigrants present visas would halt this relentless onslaught. The fact that illegal-alien encounters have soared 336% under Biden vs. President Donald Trump pins this evil on No-Borders Biden and the DEI Democrats.
“The impact of these policies is causing social upheaval, setting states against other states, big cities against surrounding communities, overwhelming school districts and social service providers, as economic migrants from all across the globe pour across our borders,” said FAIR President Dan Stein.
This foreign menace plagues U.S. cities and states:
- Due to the 37,000 illegal aliens who have swamped Denver since December, Democratic Mayor Mike Johnston said Wednesday that his city faces “a fiscal crisis unlike anything we have seen in the last 25 years.” He expects illegals to cost Denver $180 million this year. Denver Health hospital is in critical condition because 8,000 illegals have paid nothing for their 20,000 visits.Gov.
- Greg Abbott, R-Texas, told Fox Business Network anchor Stuart Varney on Jan. 4: “Since Joe Biden has taken office, Texas taxpayers have borne the brunt of about $10 billion in costs for Texas to do the federal government’s job to try to secure the border.”
- Some 160,000 illegal aliens have flooded New York City since spring 2022. So, Democratic Mayor Eric Adams announced plans to slash spending across the board 5% for three years each. This reduction in police, fire, sanitation, education, and all else totaled $12.25 billion to keep illegals clothed, fed, housed, and education. Hence, Adams canceled five police academy rookie classes.
Unexpectedly higher revenues let Adams pare those cuts to $10.6 billion. Regardless, New York’s residents anticipate deadlier streets, brighter infernos, dirtier sidewalks, and dimmer students.
Adams detonated a rage bomb on Jan. 9 when he bused 1,900 illegal “guests” from a rain-soaked tent city to Brooklyn’s James Madison High School and banished its students to Zoom classes. This betrayal infuriated Madison’s largely black and...

Three Gun Rights Cases Before the Supreme Court You Should Know About
Gun rights advocates claim the government’s gun control agenda will fail in high-profile legal actions that bring up federal overreach and the First Amendment.
Both sides of the Second Amendment debate will be watching the U.S. Supreme Court closely in 2024 as it applies the standards from previous decisions to new high-profile cases.
In the 2022 New York State Rifle and Pistol Association v. Bruen decision, the Supreme Court ruled that, to be constitutional, new gun laws must match the plain text of the Constitution and the “history and tradition” of the United States.
“The test that ... applies today requires courts to assess whether modern firearms regulations are consistent with the Second Amendment’s text and historical understanding,” Justice Clarence Thomas wrote for the majority in June 2022.
One of the first major post-Bruen cases, United States v. Rahimi has court watchers curious about how Bruen will be applied. The high court heard oral arguments on Rahimi on Nov. 7, 2023.
Federal law currently bars those who are under domestic violence restraining orders from possessing guns. The Supreme Court in the Rahimi case will decide if it stays or goes.
Gun control advocates say the “text and tradition” standard of the Bruen decision, if applied in Rahimi, would allow violent abusers access to guns, resulting in the deaths of domestic violence victims.
“The Supreme Court must reverse this dangerous [Bruen] ruling,” Janet Carter, senior director of issues and appeals at Everytown Law, wrote on the Everytown for Gun Safety website. “Domestic abusers do not have—and should not have—the constitutional right to possess a firearm.”
Gun rights advocates say the Rahimi case has been mischaracterized as an attempt to arm violent criminals when it’s really about protecting society without preemptively suspending constitutional rights.

“And the answer is, ‘Yes, we do.’”
Second Amendment lawyers predict that the Supreme Court will uphold the federal domestic violence law in Rahimi. They hope that the court will also ensure that due process rights are protected and an avenue for returning confiscated firearms is preserved.
“The real issue being decided goes far beyond the narrow question,” Tom Grieve, a Wisconsin criminal defense lawyer, told The Epoch Times.
Mark Smith, a constitutional attorney and author, agreed. He said it’s vital that the court protect the due process rights of gun owners.
“The most important thing Second Amendment supporters should want the Supreme Court to state in the Rahimi case is that the government may not disarm any American citizen unless there is...

Report: Establishment Plots Military Coup Against Donald Trump if Reelected
The establishment is reportedly in the beginning stages of plotting what appears to be a military coup against former President Donald Trump if voters reelect him as commander-in-chief.
The plot highlights the extent to which the establishment fears Trump’s potential return to power. If Trump wins reelection, he vowed to deconstruct the administrative state — the apparatus of unelected bureaucrats who create binding rules with, without, or against the law.
“[B]racing” for Trump’s victory amid positive polling, the coup would appear under the guise of Trump allegedly converting “the nonpartisan U.S. military into the muscular arm of his political agenda,” NBC News reported Sunday.
The establishment worries “there may be nothing stopping a president from mobilizing the military to intervene in elections, police American streets or quash domestic protests” and that “the military’s role is unique in that soldiers and sailors are trained to obey the commander-in-chief but are told not to follow illegal orders.”
The establishment’s reported coup includes “legal action” against Trump and “quietly devising plans to try to foil any efforts to expand presidential power, which could include pressuring the military to cater to his political needs.”
- “We’re already starting to put together a team to think through the most damaging types of things that he [Trump] might do so that we’re ready to bring lawsuits if we have to,” Mary McCord, executive director of the Institution for Constitutional Advocacy and Protection at Georgetown Law, told NBC News.“
- He’s going to be one creative motherf—– when it comes to trying to figure out how to abuse it [power]. Whatever your guess is, open up your imagination a little more,” Rep. Adam Smith (D-WA) told the outlet.“
- He’s a clear and present danger to our democracy,” added William Cohen, a former Republican senator from Maine and defense secretary in the Clinton administration. “His support is solid. And I don’t think people understand what living in a dictatorship would mean.”
Republicans are highly critical of the plot, suggesting it would be an unconstitutional coup against the president. “NBC reports the left is plotting ways to have [the] military not be under civilian control,” Fox News contributor Molly Hemingway posted on X. “This dangerous and unconstitutional usurpation of power is being framed by NBC as good because it will undermine Trump if he is freely and fairly elected by Americans.”
Sean Davis, CEO of the Federalist, said Democrats will justify immoral acts against Trump to preserve their power. “Whenever Democrats accuse Trump of doing something, it’s a guarantee that Democrats are planning to do that very thing against Trump,” he said. “Which means Democrats are preparing to use the military to steal the 2024 election and prevent their opponents from lawfully taking power.”
Far-leftist organizations, many law firms, federal agency bureaucrats, and establishment lawmakers comprise the administrative state. Trump refers to the administrative state as the “swamp” and the “deep state.”
The administrative state uses its rule-making ability to essentially usurp the separation of powers between the three branches of government by creating a so-called fourth branch of government not created by...
