Lack Of Attention To Chinese Interpol Chief’s Disappearance Shows The Khashoggi Furor’s Fakery

Meng Hongwe left his home in France on Sept. 25 for a trip concluding in China. He has not been seen or heard from since, save for an ominous text.

Why do certain individual victims of tyrannical regimes become cause célèbres, worthy of dramatically altering U.S. foreign policy, while others disappear into the ether?

This question comes to mind in light of the curious case of Meng Hongwei. You would be forgiven if this is the first you are reading his name, which has been all but lost amid the feverish media coverage of the disappearance and premeditated murder of Islamist Saudi dissident Jamal Khashoggi at the hands of Saudi government henchmen. But concurrent with the Khashoggi affair, Meng, the president of Interpol, also disappeared, and may have succumbed to a similarly grim fate at the hands of Chinese henchmen.

Let me repeat that: The president of Interpol, the world’s largest international police organization, disappeared. Meng left his home in France on Sept. 25 for a trip concluding in China. Meng has not been seen or heard from since, save for reportedly texting his wife an ominous emoji of a knife.

Only two weeks later did we receive the Chinese authority’s version of what transpired. The Chinese Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) — as draconian a bureaucracy as it sounds — released a one-line statement announcing that Meng was being detained under “suspicion of violating the law,” purportedly for taking bribes. Interpol received a statement saying Meng would be resigning as president immediately, and he was summarily replaced.

His wife claims Chinese individuals have threatened her as well. She believes Meng may be dead, although Chinese authorities claim to be holding a letter of his, addressed to her, as evidence he is alive. Meng claims unnamed parties have asked to deliver the letter to her alone, something she has understandably refused.

There are a number of parallels between Meng and Khashoggi, which makes it all the more interesting that the former’s disappearance caused an international uproar, while the latter’s disappearance has been largely disappeared. For one, Meng and Khashoggi were both prominent figures with deep ties at the highest ranks of the authoritarian regimes for which they served.

Meng is not just another one of the hundreds of thousands of Chinese held in “Re-education through Labor” camps, or behind bars for committing crimes like practicing one’s faith or dissenting from the state religion of Communism. He was a loyal member of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for more than 40 years, working his way up through the “law enforcement” ranks.

For his loyal work for the CCP, he rose to the senior position of Chinese vice-minister of public security, where he had been serving since 2004, and head of the China Coast Guard, a position to which he was named in 2013. The caravan of migrants intent on crossing through Mexico and entering the United States is moving ever closer to its goal … but there are increasing signs that not everything is as presented by the establishment media.

Considering that a high number of the migrants do not have passports or verifiable identification, questions have been raised about this plan, including by the president himself.

Of course, anybody who has dared ask how smart it is to bring a horde of unvetted people over the border has been labelled a racist or a heartless bigot.

An eye-opening video from Fox News correspondent Griff Jenkins may silence those critics. On Sunday, Jenkins shared a man-on-the-street interview he did with one of the thousands of migrants who are currently in Tapanatepec, Mexico.

“Are you willing to break the law to get back to the United States?” Jenkins asked a man named Jose, with the help of a Spanish interpreter.

To the reporter’s surprise, the man admitted that he had a major felony.

“I want to enter and ask for a pardon,” the migrant answered in Spanish. The translator confirmed the statement. “He says he wants to apply for a pardon for the felony he committed.”

“What is your felony, exactly?” the translator asked.

“Number three,” Jose answered in English. “A third degree felony,” the translator confirmed.

Outrage in France after migrant youth stages mock execution of teacher

PARIS-The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before a youth judge in France this weekend following the disturbing incident filmed and circulated on social media.

The mock execution happened at Branly High School in Creteil, a migrant-populated suburb south east of Paris.

He insisted that the pistol was a fake, and his mock execution of his teacher was a “joke”. But the teacher did not find his antics very funny. She said the intent was to harm her, and she has made a complaint of “violent threats with a weapon”, which is punishable by up to five years in prison.

Even if his weapon was a fake, a legal source close to the case explained, the teenager’s actions were unlawful.

After public outrage, President Emmanuel Macron urged taking “all measures to ensure that what happened is punished, and that this type of behaviour is permanently banned from schools,” the Daily Mail reported. Macron made sure not to mention “racism” in his remarks.

This week, the European Union Parliament passed a motion to demand member-states ban “neo-fascist” parties and called on intelligence agencies to fully co-operate with “anti-racism” NGOs.

The motion also calls for “the protection of community groups and civil society organisations that fight against fascism, racism, xenophobia and other forms of intolerance”.

The motion was passed by a vote of 355 MEPs, but many MEPs were not present in the 751-seat chamber for the vote. The resolution cited the murder of Labour MP Jo Cox in 2016, as well as the rampage of Norwegian extremist Anders Brevik as reasons for the ban.

The authors also included the French branch of the Identitarian movement Generation Identitaire, because some of its members had been taken to court and convicted of “hate speech”.

It also recommended that anti-hate crime units be set up in police forces across the EU, Breitbart reported.

As President Donald Trump pointed out on Twitter, even former President Barack Obama, at least rhetorically, said that illegal immigrants couldn’t be let into the country en masse and without restrictions. (He said that as a senator.)

“We simply cannot allow people to pour into the United States undetected, undocumented, unchecked and circumventing the line of people who are waiting patiently, diligently, and lawfully to become immigrants into this country,” Obama said.

This dynamic has dramatically shifted, as the American left now increasingly sees any level of border enforcement as beyond the pale.

The migrant caravans originating in Honduras and heading north to the U.S. border are testing just how far the left will go in embracing this new narrative.

The position Obama held just over a decade ago is now considered offensive in some circles. Some are even demanding that the U.S. let the caravan into the United States.

“Every one of these people are coming from a real fear. These are refugees,” Cambridge, Massachusetts Mayor Marc McGovern said, according to the Boston Herald. “These are people who really are facing real problems and we have to let them through.”

The left is sending a message that concern over unchecked immigration is illegitimate.

Yet this is out of step with the American people in general.

Americans are clearly divided when it comes to the issue of immigration. Some want more high-skilled immigrants, others don’t. Some think a wall is necessary for border security, others don’t.
