INSPECTOR GENERAL BLAMES OBAMA IMMIGRATION POLICY FOR ILLEGAL ALIEN MURDER OF CONNECTICUT WOMAN

At the request of Senators Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), and Rep. Joe Courtney (D-Conn.) DHS’ Office of Inspector General released a report showing that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials “could have and should have done more to remove Jean Jacques from this country before he had the chance to brutally murder Casey Chadwick."

Jean Jacques, an illegal alien, had been released only five months after serving 17 years in prison for an attempted murder in a separate case when he stabbed and killed 25-year-old Casey Chadwick in her home in 2015. Jacques had a final order of removal to be deported after serving his 17 years but ICE was forced to release him after their three attempts to deport him failed due to a Supreme Court ruling that limits how long an illegal alien can be detained.

According to the DHS report ICE lacked the documents needed to prove Jacques’ nationality so Haiti denied all three attempts by ICE to deport him back to his home country. After the third attempt the Haitian official said that ICE should try to go through the Haiti consulate in Miami, FL to get the documents needed to prove Jacques was a Haitian citizen. There are no records that ICE reached out to the consulate or that the agency formally escalated this case to get the State Department’s help in deporting....

Terrorist Omar Mateen, 29, received a traditional Islamic burial this week in a Sunni Muslim cemetery located more than three hours south of Pulse, the gay Orlando nightclub where he took the lives of 49 innocent people.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, Mateen’s body was prepared for burial by the Riyadh Ul Jannah Funeral Home, which lists itself as “a Muslim funeral home for the sole use of Sunni Muslims” on its website. His death certificate was issued on Wednesday afternoon.

Mateen’s body was buried in the Muslim Cemetery of South Florida in Hialeah Gardens, which furnishes the same address. Riyadh Ul Jannah is part of a non-profit foundation called the Bism Rabbik Foundation Inc.

Local outlet WPTV also broke the news that Mateen was given a traditional Islamic burial within the last 48 hours in the state of Florida, although there were no other details regarding his remains.

Mateen’s death certificate notes that his father Seddique Mateen or Mir Seddique, picked his son’s body up from the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office (OCMEO). Carrie Proudfit, a public information officer for Orange County told the Sentinel that a body must be released to family members who then make specific arrangements.

Under Islamic law, cremation and embalming are forbidden.

Both the OCMEO and the FBI declined to release the information that was discovered on Mateen’s death certificate and cited that the investigation was “ongoing.”

The Treasure Coast Palm reports that Seddique would not confirm at his home on Wednesday any information about his son’s burial. However, he provided the phone number for his attorney — Wilfredo Ruiz, communications director for the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).

Much attention and condemnation has been directed towards the tragedy of the African slave trade, which took place between the 16th and the 19th centuries. However, another equally despicable trade in humans was taking place around the same time in the Mediterranean. It is estimated that up to 1.25 million Europeans were enslaved by the so-called Barbary corsairs, and their lives were just as pitiful as their African counterparts. They have come to be known as the white slaves of Barbary.

Slavery is one of the oldest trades known to man. We can first find records of the slave trade dating back to The Code of Hammurabi in Babylon in the 18th century BCE. People from virtually every major culture, civilization, and religious background have made slaves of their own and enslaved other peoples. However, comparatively little attention has been given to the prolific slave trade that was carried out by pirates, or corsairs, along the Barbary coast (as it was called by Europeans at the time), in what is now Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, and Libya, beginning around 1600 AD.

Anyone travelling in the Mediterranean at the time faced the real prospect of being captured by the Corsairs and taken to Barbary Coast cities and being sold as slaves.

However, not content with attacking ships and sailors, the corsairs also sometimes raided coastal settlements in Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, England, Ireland, and even as far away as the Netherlands and Iceland.
