Wall Porn: Hadrian’s Wall - circa 122 A.D.

Around 122 A.D., the Emperor Hadrian ordered the construction of a stone barrier to protect Roman Britain from the Picts and the other “barbarian” tribes that inhabited northern England and Scotland.

The result was “Hadrian’s Wall,” a 73-mile rampart that stretched from the Solway Firth on the western coast to the mouth of the River Tyne in the east.

The wall was roughly 10 feet wide and 15 feet tall and was dotted with forts manned by frontier troops. Gates spaced one mile apart allowed the garrison to control movement in the region—the wall may have even been used to levy taxes—and defensive towers and ditches protected against raids from the north.

Though briefly decommissioned in the 140s in favor of a more northerly barrier called the Antonine Wall, Hadrian’s Wall was later reoccupied and remained an imposing symbol of Roman power until their withdrawal from Britain in the early 5th century. 1,600 years of deterioration and looting for building materials have since reduced it to a fraction of its original size, but many portions still exist today and are among England’s most visited historical sites.

The Merkel Debacle...

Merkel support rating drops sharply after wave of attacks – poll

The number of Germans supporting Chancellor Angela Merkel and her policies is growing smaller by the day, according to a new survey conducted in the wake of the series of attacks that shocked Germany in July.

Just under half – 47 percent – of Germans surveyed rated Merkel’s work as satisfactory by the end of July, down 12 percentage points on the June figure of 59 percent, according to DeutschlandTrend (Germany Trend), a representative survey by the polling institute Infratest dimap conducted on behalf of German broadcaster ARD.

The pollster surveyed 1,003 German citizens of voting-age on August 1-2. Two-thirds of respondents said they disagreed with Merkel’s asylum policies ‘in general,’ as the poll did not allow for specific reasons to be given. Around a third – 34 percent – claimed the refugee crisis was being handled properly, the lowest level of support for Merkel’s open-door policy since the issue appeared in polls almost a year ago.

The survey was conducted after five assaults shocked Germany in just over a week in July. Three were committed by asylum seekers, with two of those being investigated for links to Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL).

Julian Assange: WikiLeaks Emails Will Prove Hillary Armed ISIS In Syria

WikiLeaks' release of thousands of hacked DNC emails marred the Democratic National Convention, but those emails may be the least of Hillary Clinton's troubles. According to WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, emails obtained by WikiLeaks offer damning evidence that while Secretary of State, Clinton allowed weapons to get into the hands of Syrian jihadists including ISIS.

Speaking on Democracy Now, Assange said:

So, those Hillary Clinton emails, they connect together with the cables that we have published of Hillary Clinton, creating a rich picture of how Hillary Clinton performs in office, but, more broadly, how the U.S. Department of State operates. So, for example, the disastrous, absolutely disastrous intervention in Libya, the destruction of the Gaddafi government, which led to the occupation of ISIS of large segments of that country, weapons flows going over to Syria, being pushed by Hillary Clinton, into jihadists within Syria, including ISIS, that’s there in those emails. There’s more than 1,700 emails in Hillary Clinton’s collection, that we have released, just about Libya alone.

The new information, if true, would seemingly contradict statements Hillary Clinton made to Kentucky Senator Rand Paul in 2013, in which the Secretary of State denied, under oath, any knowledge of weapons being run into Syria.

Here's a transcript of the exchange:

Iran Owes Victims of Its Terror $43 Billion. WHY ARE WE PAYING THEM BILLIONS AND PAYING THEM RANSOM MONEY?

Among the many dangerous consequences of the proposed nuclear deal with Iran will be the removal of an array of sanctions on Iran and the Ayatollah’s regime. The removal of these sanctions and the release of Iranian assets frozen overseas will pump $150 billion into the Iranian economy seemingly overnight.

Many of these dollars will line the pockets of Iran’s radical Revolutionary Guard Corps. The IRGC, through its paramilitary Quds Force, has funded some of the world’s most violent Islamic terrorist groups and has left in its wake decades of bombings, hijackings, murders and kidnappings.

Hundreds of Americans are among Iran’s victims. Courts have found Iran complicit in some of the most horrific acts of terror in American history, including the 1983 bombing of the Marine barracks in Beirut, the Khobar Towers bombing in Saudi Arabia, and the 9/11 attacks.

Federal law allows the victims of state-sponsored terrorism to bring suit against the nations responsible. To date, American courts have awarded some$43.5 billion in damages to Iran’s victims and their families, all of which has gone unpaid.

In other words, Iranian hardliners will soon get a multi-billion dollar payday — while Americans who suffered at the hands of Iran and its terrorist allies still await compensation for the damages incurred.

That’s why I’ve introduced the Justice for Victims of Iranian Terrorism Act.The legislation requires the Obama Administration to certify that Iran has paid every penny it owes its victims before it receives any sanctions relief.

Every American victimized by Iran and its agents has a story to tell. Many of them, or their families, have successfully brought suit in federal court and been awarded damages.

Below are just some of the victims that have been awarded judgments by U.S. courts:

Wall Porn: The Great Wall of Gorgan - 5th century A.D.

Also known as the “Red Snake” for its distinctive red-colored bricks, the “Great Wall of Gorgon” was a 121-mile rampart that extended from the southern coast of the Caspian Sea to the Elburz Mountains in what is now Iran.

It was once thought to have been the work of Alexander the Great—it was even known as “Alexander’s Barrier”—but more recent research suggests it was built by the Sasanian Persians sometime around the 5th century A.D.

When completed, it was one of the longest walls of antiquity and boasted more than 30 forts, a garrison of 30,000 troops and a network of canals that acted as both a water supply system and a defensive moat. Surprisingly little is known about the wall’s history, but most scholars believe the Persians used it to guard against the Hephthalite Huns and other enemies to the north.

Sliming Trump

Now that Donald Trump is safely ensconced as the official Republican nominee for president, the mainstream media is running an intense around-the-clock operation to deprive him of the relatively unfiltered media exposure he needs to seal the deal with the American people.

Trump being silly and playful in front of TV cameras or utilizing his sense of humor is cast as evidence of a disordered, antisocial mind. The media is focusing on minor benign details and marketing them as the evil deeds of an evil man.

Preventing Trump from communicating effectively with Americans didn’t work so well during the primaries. That was when student radicals, union thugs, Democrat allies in Black Lives Matter, and the remnants of Occupy Wall Street were disrupting Trump rallies and intimidating would-be rally attendees by beating the New Yorker’s supporters up in broad daylight.

The leftist narrative being deployed against Trump is based on lies, half-truths, and nothing-burgers

This was always less an effort to counter Trump or challenge his policy platform, than a fascistic push to simply suppress his message. With Trump, the...
