Australian Butcher Refuses to Remove Sign After it Was Declared to be Offensive
An Australian butcher refuses to change his shop’s sign that states its products are “not halal-certified.”
Naturally, leftists are up in the arms about this sign and believe it is “inciting hatred” towards Muslim people.
The Valley Butchers in Adelaide, South Australia, are caught in a web of controversy over a complaint filed to the Australian Advertising Standards Authority after the owner placed a sign that read “not halal-certified” on the store front. The store argues that the sign was a factual answer to a question they frequently receive about the origin of their meat.
“The sign is only stating that we are not halal approved,” the store claims, according to a SBS News Australia report. “In no way is it meant in a malice way. We were getting asked quite frequently whether we are halal approved, so I am just stating that we are not, and that saves a lot of wasted time.”
But the complainants didn’t agree with the store’s argument. One was quoted in the Ad Standards complaint stating that the sign “perpetuate[s] a culture of vilification towards religious minorities, that results in harm towards them…. It pokes fun of a specific group of people based on religious belief.”
The board actually agreed, declaring that the sign was “inciting hatred or contempt” against Muslims. “Using the phrase ‘non-Halal certified’ in conjunction with imagery of Australian animals was a suggestion that Islamic dietary practices are not Australian,” the board stated.
The butchers responded by changing the sign to read...
In UN Address, Trump Makes International Call: ‘End Religious Persecution’
President Donald Trump, speaking Monday at the United Nations in New York, announced an initiative to protect religious liberty, saying the administration would spend $25 million in related efforts internationally.
Trump made the announcement in remarks at a U.N. event called the Global Call to Protect Religious Freedom, noting that business leaders are involved in the new effort to end religious persecution.
“The religious freedom enjoyed by American citizens is rare in the world. Approximately 80% of the world’s population live in countries where religious liberty is threatened, restricted, or even banned,” Trump said.
“When I heard that number, I said, ‘Please go back and check it, because it can’t possibly be correct.’ Sadly, it was. Eighty percent.”
According to the Pew Research Center, more than 80% of the world’s population faces serious restrictions on religious expression.
The president said:
As we speak, Jews, Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, Sikhs, Yazidis, and many other people of faith are being jailed, sanctioned, tortured, and even murdered, often at the hands of their own government, simply for expressing their deeply held religious beliefs. So hard to believe.
Today, with one clear voice, the United States of America calls upon the nations of the world to end religious persecution.
Trump’s words prompted applause.
The president cited attacks on synagogues in Pittsburgh and San Diego, an Easter terrorist attack on Christian churches in Sri Lanka, and a mass shooting at a mosque in New Zealand as examples of global religious persecution.
Trump noted his administration’s State Department initiated the International Religious Freedom Alliance, a coalition of nations devoted to confronting religious persecution around the world, and established a special envoy to monitor and combat anti-Semitism.
“To stop the crimes against people of faith, release prisoners of conscience, repeal laws restricting freedom of religion and belief, protect the vulnerable, defenseless, and the oppressed,” Trump added, “… we are also asking every nation to increase the prosecution and punishment of crimes against religious communities. There can be no greater crime than that.”
Trump said part of the initiative is the protection of religious sites and relics.
The Trump administration will dedicate an additional $25 million to protect such sites and relics, including historic houses of worship, the president said.
The Islamic State terrorist group destroyed numerous historic religious sites in Iraq and Syria, including monasteries and mosques.
The president also announced a partnership with the U.S. business community to defend religious liberty.
“This initiative will encourage the private sector to protect people of all faiths in the workplace. The private sector has brilliant leadership. That’s why some of the people in this room are among the most...

Media at war: Trump China policy is working —but you won’t hear about it
If you listen to leftist politicians and the mainstream media, we are constantly on the verge of a major recession and President Donald Trump is losing the trade war with China.
However, the facts tell a very different story.
The economy is growing far more than it ever did under Barack Obama, and economists are arguing that Trump’s tariff strategy with China is working in the United States’ favor.
“Today, it’s hard to turn on the financial news, open a business paper or browse an investment website without seeing some doomsayers predicting the impending collapse of the U.S. economy and equity markets because of the latest tariff or presidential tweet. When the markets invariably resume their upward trends the next day, it’s crickets,” Greg Autry, an assistant professor of clinical entrepreneurship in the Marshall School of Business at USC, wrote in an issue of the Los Angeles Times detailing exactly how Trump is winning when it comes to China.
Autry argues that despite many predicting that tariffs would lead to more of a cost burden on American consumers, they are actually hurting China where it counts.
“While economists differ on the effects of the tariffs, there is considerable evidence that they are having the desired effect. Modeling by European economists Benedikt Zoller-Rydzek and Gabriel Felbermayr concluded that, although U.S. consumer prices for affected Chinese products will rise by about 4.5%, Chinese firms will pay approximately 75% of the tariff burden. And as of the end of August, the treasury had collected more than $25 billion in tariffs from China,” he wrote.
This really flies in the face of leftists like Maxine Waters, a lawmaker who suggested that Trump did not have the “expertise” to negotiate new trade deals with China.
Autry notes in his piece that one of the main platforms that helped elect Trump was his dismissal of globalism, an economic theory that had led to an American economy that was struggling while countries like China benefitted.
