Trey Gowdy in talks to join Trump’s legal team to fight impeachment
The former South Carolina Republican was reportedly in talks with a member of Trump’s legal team Tuesday amid conflicting reports on whether there had been any formal or final decisions made.
NEWS: Trump advisers since late Sept. have weighed the idea of asking former US Rep Trey Gowdy to provide impeachment strategy.
Trump warmed to the suggestion and asked @TGowdySC to be part of team.
Gowdy said yes.

BREAKING: Trump Admin Shreds Democrats’ Impeachment Attempt In Scathing Legal Letter
The Trump administration all but made a “declaration of war on the House over the impeachment inquiry” on Tuesday in a letter from White House Counsel Pat. A Cipollone, who told House Democrats that the president would not comply with their “illegitimate proceedings.”
The letter listed the following three core reasons why the Trump administration would not cooperate with Democrats’ current illegitimate proceedings:
In a statement, White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham wrote: “The President has done nothing wrong, and the Democrats know it. For purely political reasons, the Democrats have decided their desire to overturn the outcome of the 2016 election allows them to conduct a so-called impeachment inquiry that ignores the fundamental rights guaranteed to every American. These partisan proceedings are an affront to the Constitution—as they are being held behind closed doors and deny the President the right to call witnesses, to cross-examine witnesses, to have access to evidence, and many other basic rights.”
Included with Grisham’s statement was the letter from Cipollone that dismantled many of the claims made by Democrat leaders in recent weeks and seriously damaged the credibility of their unofficial impeachment inquiry.
The following is the letter that Cipollone wrote to Democrat leaders Nancy Pelosi, Eliot Engel, Adam Schiff, and Elijah Cummings:
I write on behalf of President Donald J. Trump in response to your numerous, legally unsupported demands made as part of what you have labeled contrary to the Constitution of the United States and all past bipartisan precedent-as an “impeachment inquiry.” As you know, you have designed and implemented your inquiry in a maimer that violates fundamental fairness and constitutionally mandated due process.
For example, you have denied the President the right to cross-examine witnesses, to call witnesses, to receive transcripts of testimony, to have access to evidence, to have counsel present, and many other basic rights guaranteed to all Americans. You have conducted your proceedings in secret. You have violated civil liberties and the separation of powers by threatening Executive Branch officials, claiming that you will seek to punish those who exercise fundamental constitutional rights and prerogatives. All of this violates the Constitution, the rule of law, and every past precedent. Never before in our history has the House of Representatives — under the control of either political party — taken the American people down the dangerous path you seem determined to pursue.

Report: Ukraine ‘Whistleblower’ Had ‘Professional Relationship’ with 2020 Democrat
“The IG said [the whistleblower] worked or had some type of professional relationship with one of the Democratic candidates,” one person with knowledge of inspector general Michael Atkinson’s testimony told the Examiner’s Byron York.
In another conversation with York, a second source revealed: “What [Atkinson] said was that the whistleblower self-disclosed that he was a registered Democrat and that he had a prior working relationship with a current 2020 Democratic presidential candidate.”
According to York, Atkinson did not reveal the Democrat presidential candidate’s identity or touch on the nature of the working relationship.
The Examiner’s report raises further questions about the so-called “whistleblower” and his complaint, which alleges President Donald Trump pressured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate allegations of corruption against former Vice President and 2020 White House hopeful Joe Biden and his son, Hunter Biden. In an August 26th letter, Atkinson said the officer was found to have harbored “political bias” in favor of a rival political candidate to President Trump. York’s report contradicts a claim by CNN anchor Jake Tapper, who stated last week that the so-called “whistleblower’s” political bias was that he was a “registered Democrat.”
The officer’s alleged political bias isn’t the only glaring issue with his complaint. Last week, Fox News reported the anonymous Deep Stater concealed his communications with a House Intelligence Committee aide from Atkinson, who told lawmakers he possessed “no knowledge” of the officer’s contacts with the Capitol Hill staffer. As Breitbart News reported, the development suggests the officer failed to follow the law for protecting intelligence community members seeking to report alleged wrongdoing.
The Trump-Zelensky call sparked House Democrats to launch a so-called impeachment inquiry into the president — despite the fact that the two have both denied any pressure was applied to investigate the Biden family. In a nod to transparency, the White House released a transcript of the call to illustrate no wrongdoing took place.
