Not even the nicest parts of the American city is safe. The riots have come to Georgetown, the picturesque enclave of some of D.C.'s most decadent denizens, on par with Brentwood or the Upper West Side.
According to the organizing group, Saturday night's Totally Peaceful Protest was predicated on criminal behavior. The rioters planned on obstructing Georgetown traffic, a feat explicitly forbidden by D.C. law, while engaging in a "noise pollution" campaign. Because George Floyd, or something.
That the rioters could have obstructed emergency vehicles was bad enough, but soon the demonstration escalated as rioters climbed on top of and beat the car of a woman who, according to one of the rioters, had simply tried to avoid the riots by driving through a gas station.
Apparently, this needs to be said, but there is no "Karen" in this situation. There is an innocent victim who initially tried to avoid the riots and then tried to escape them as peacefully as possible, and then there are violent criminals who deserve prison time.
It goes without saying, but this is getting out of control. The violence isn't just in CHAZ or on the footsteps of a Portland federal court. It's slowly percolating across entire cityscapes, and unless these criminals are treated as such, there is zero incentive for this to end.
It's time to throw the book at individual offenders instead of waiting until mobs grow to the point the cops resort to using tear gas. Nip these escalations in the bud, lest we become Seattle, where law enforcement is so restrained they're warning property and business owners that they can no longer...
Why Marxist Organizations Like BLM Seek to Dismantle the "Western Nuclear Family"
We disrupt the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure requirement by supporting each other as extended families and “villages” that collectively care for one another, especially our children, to the degree that mothers, parents, and children are comfortable.
This idea isn’t unique to BLM, of course. “Disrupting” the “nuclear family” is a commonly stated goal among Maxist organizations. Given that BLM’s founders have specifically claimed to be “trained Marxists,” we should not be surprised that the organization's leadership has embraced a Marxian view of the family.
But where does this hostility toward the family originate? Partly, it comes from the theories of Marx and Engels themselves, and their views that an earlier, matriarchal version of the family rejected private property as an organizing principle of society. It was only later that this older tribal model of the family gave way to the modern “patriarchal” family, which promotes and sustains private property.
Clearly, in the Marxian view, this “new” type of family must be opposed, since the destruction of this family model will make it easier to abolish private property as well.
Early Family Units in Tribal Life
Frederick Engels’s 1884 book The Origin of the Family, Private Property and the State provides a historical perspective of the Marxian view of the development of the modern Western family unit and its relation to property rights. (Engels, of course, was the longtime benefactor of and collaborator with Marx.)
In reconstructing the origins of the family within a Marxian framework, Engels traces back to the “savage” primeval stage of humanity that, according to his research, revealed a condition in which “unrestricted sexual intercourse existed within a tribe, so that every woman belonged to every man, and vice versa.”
Under such conditions, Engels explained, “it is uncertain who is the father of the child, but certain, who is its mother.” Only female lineage could be acknowledged. “[B]eing the only well known parents of younger generations,” Engels explained, women as mothers “received a high tribute of respect and deference, amounting to a complete women’s rule [gynaicocracy].”
Furthermore, Engels wrote, tribes were subdivided into smaller groups called “gentes,” a primitive form of an extended family of sorts.
These gens were consanguineous (i.e., included people descended from the same ancestor) on the mother’s side, within which intermarrying was strictly forbidden. “The men of certain ‘gens,’ therefore, could choose their wives within the tribe, and did so as a rule, but had to choose them outside of their ‘gens,’” Engels explained. California State University’s Mandate of Ethnic, Social Justice Studies Driven by Hatred of America
Pan-African studies are “the intellectual arm of the revolution,” the unrepentant communist Angela Davis triumphantly told students at California State University, Los Angeles, in a candid moment in 2016. Well, that arm got a lot longer this week.
The entire California State University system just announced Thursday that it was making ethnic and social justice studies mandatory for everyone who wants a degree.
Yes, that means that ethnic and social justice studies will now have pride of place along with English and science as subjects that must be mastered by those brandishing a bachelor’s degree from the vast California system.
Not that ethnic or social justice studies will do one iota to help these young Americans master their fields or become future leaders, which used to be one of the aims of what was formerly called higher education.
No, ethnic and social justice studies are political indoctrination.
Critics would say, hang on, wouldn’t ethnic and social justice studies help Americans get along better in a diverse workforce, body politics, classrooms, etc.? Those critics, of course, would have very little understanding of what actually is taught in ethnic studies or social justice studies.
Ethnic studies teach the members of what in today’s lexicon we call “minorities” (really, any American who belongs to a group that the activists have convinced the bureaucracy to officialize as marginalized) that they have a long list of grievances against the United States, and particularly against whites.
