America’s murder rate increase in 2020 has ‘no modern precedent’

Murder rates saw a “historic” increase in 2020 compared to 2019, with more than 1,200 additional killings year-over-year in a sample of 34 American cities, according to a study released Monday.

“The coronavirus pandemic, continuing incidents of police violence and rising homicide and violent crime rates each pose massive policy challenges in their own right, but the interplay between them creates even more difficult decisions for policymakers,” states a report from the National Commission of COVID-19 and Criminal Justice (NCCCJ). “Despite this difficulty, leaders at all levels of government should take bold action in responding to all three crises.”

Homicide rates jumped by 30 percent from 2019 to 2020, while gun assault and aggravated assault rates climbed 8 percent and 6 percent, respectively, experts found.

“Homicide rates were higher during every month of 2020 relative to rates from the previous year,” the report states, calling the 30 percent surge “a large and troubling increase that has no modern precedent.”

Experts analyzed the data from as many as 34 US cities, which varied in size and population, for year-over-year changes in 10 different areas of crime for the year-end update of an NCCCJ report called Pandemic, Unrest, Crime and Violence in US Cities. In addition to the three offenses listed above, the report examined the rates of domestic violence, robbery, residential burglary, nonresidential burglary, larceny, motor vehicle theft and drug offenses.

The rates of homicides, motor vehicle thefts, gun assaults and aggravated assaults rose year-over-year. Meanwhile, those related to drug offenses, larcenies, nonresidential burglaries, residential burglaries and robberies all decreased during the pandemic and during the year as a whole compared to 2019, analysts found.

Not every city provides the same kinds of data and sample sizes for certain types of offenses were smaller than others.

As for domestic violence, analysts were only able to examine data from 12 cities. They found that there was “a significant increase” in these types of offenses during the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic, but the rate then leveled out to be roughly the same as it was in 2019.

The average population of the cities whose homicide rates were examined was 978,000, but the cities range in size. The largest city in the sample, New York, boasts a population of approximately 8.42 million people, while the smallest, Norfolk, Va., has...

Hedge Fund Manager Glenn Dubin Is Deeply Embedded In The Epstein Scandal...

Jeffrey Epstein once wanted to marry an ex-girlfriend’s teenage daughter who called him “Uncle Jeff,” according to a report.

The late pedophile openly declared his plans to wed Celina Dubin, the daughter of former Miss Sweden Eva Andersson Dubin, who had dated Epstein for 11 years until the early ’90s, sources told Business Insider.

The pair had developed an “especially close relationship” when Celina was just 12, with “Uncle Jeff” at times having “substituted” for her dad, the Palm Beach Post has previously reported, citing a profile made by Epstein’s lawyers.

Epstein was telling associates in 2014 that if he ever married, it would be to Celina — who was 19 at the time, sources told Business Insider.

There is no evidence that Epstein ever had a romantic relationship with Dubin, who is now 24, the site reported, saying his motivation to marry may have been driven by a desire to avoid inheritance taxes.

However, her father, moneyman Glenn Dubin, has long been tied to the Epstein scandal — with longtime accuser Virginia Roberts Giuffre naming him in court documents as one of many men she alleges she was forced to have sex with.

He has previously “categorically” denied the allegations through a spokesman, who said he has “evidence disproving them.”

The Dubins, prominent socialites in Epstein’s main hangouts of New York City and Palm Beach, Florida, also defended him when he was released from a Florida jail in 2009 on his earlier child sex conviction, Business Insider previously revealed.

The couple wrote an email to his probation officer saying they were “100% comfortable” with Epstein spending time with Celina, who was then 14, and their two other...

Pathetic Republican Squishes Are Learning It's Still Trump's Party

Grandpa Gropes Says: That's Not A Roll Of Quarters....

We should probably celebrate the fact that Grandpa Gropes has been in office for almost two weeks and none of us are in gulags yet. Our neighbors to the north are giving us a sneak preview of how that will eventually happen.

There has been no shortage of concern trolling about the future of the Republican party by the leftist leg humping mainstream media hacks lately. In their fevered telling of the tale the only hope for the continued functioning of the GOP is for the party to embrace the invertebrate Romney/Murkowski/Cheney wing and become Democrat Lite forever.

Yeah…no.

We’ve examined the continued role in the Republican party of one Donald J. Trump here for a while.

The moderate/left/LincolnProjectPedo wing (all 35 of them) of the GOP is insistent that the Republican hoi polloi reject all things Trump and do whatever they can to make The New York Times say nice things about them on occasion. Their dream GOP is a grandstanding bunch of mush that never really accomplishes anything or directly addresses the concerns of the people who elect them.

What Trump’s presidency did for us regular Republicans was show us that the party still has some fight in it. We don’t need to suck up to the Democrats in the name of useless bipartisanship. He made it clear to us that the representatives in this representative republic are still working for us and we need to remind them of that.

There are a few in the House and Senate who don’t seem to get that.

It’s going to leave a mark.

The idiot Republicans who have jumped onto the Impeachment Train with the Democrats are finding out from their constituents that their turncoat ways are not at all appreciated back home:
GOP lawmakers who joined forces with House Democrats to rush through a second impeachment effort against President Trump are facing intense backlash from fellow Republicans back at home.

Rep. Tom Rice (R-SC) has now been censured by the South Carolina Republican Party for his role in the Democrats’ latest impeachment push against President Trump. More troubling for the GOP lawmaker is the fact that his censure push began at the grassroots level in a...

Hawley: Dems Want Big Corporations Acting as ‘the Hand of the Government’

During Sunday’s “Life, Liberty & Levin” on Fox News Channel, Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) warned of big corporations acting as “the hand of the government.”

According to Hawley, Democrats are cheering on big tech companies and big corporations to use their “unprecedented concentration of power” to impose their viewpoints on the American public.

“What we have is an unprecedented concentration of power by these corporate monopolies working in league with the left,” Hawley told host Mark Levin. “I call them the woke capitalists. You know, they are only interested in capitalism in so far as they can control it and use it to impose their viewpoints on the American public. You know, our founders, they were against monopolies. They really hated monopolies. They were very wary of monopolies, and rightfully so because when you concentrate power in a few hands, bad things always happen. And that’s what’s happening now, Mark.”

“You’ve got these big tech companies who effectively control more and more speech in America,” he continued. “We have seen how they want to use that. They want to shut down conservatives, they want to shut down libertarians, they want to take down competitors like Parler, they want to tell you what you can and cannot say. And it’s not just the tech companies. It’s also the corporate monopolies in other areas.”

Hawley went on to say this is something that has not been seen in America before.

“We’re dealing with a party now that loves the idea of concentrated power, that loves the idea of power gathered into a few hands. I mean … they are the party of the powerful. I mean, there is no doubt about it. They are a party of biggest monopoly corporations, they’re the party of big tech, they are a party of Hollywood, of course — and have been for years,” he advised.

“The Democrats, they love what tech is doing,” Hawley added. “When … tech destroyed Parler, destroyed a competitor, you talk about an antitrust violation, the Democrats cheered them on. They thought that was wonderful. When tech is out there censoring...
