Celebrating the 246th Birthday of America’s Army

When the Second Continental Congress delegates voted for a resolution on June 14, 1775, they had no idea they also founded America’s Army. On Monday, June 14, that Army turns 246.

The delegates directed “six companies of expert riflemen be immediately raised in Pennsylvania, two in Maryland, and two in Virginia.” Each company consisted of “a captain, three lieutenants, four sergeants, four corporals, a drummer or trumpeter and sixty-eight privates.”

“Each company … shall march and join the army near Boston, to be there employed as light infantry, under the command of the chief Officer in that army.”

Today, a company consists of 80 to 150 soldiers led by a captain.

The fledgling nation found itself in dangerous times when the Revolutionary War erupted at Lexington and Concord on April 19 that year.

By June—the month the Army formed—New Hampshire, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island militias had contained the British troops in Boston, but the New Englanders needed soldiers and supplies. The Continental Congress sent a small force to Boston.

The six authorized companies were the basis for the Continental Army, which evolved into the U.S. Army. The next day, Congress put George Washington, who later became the first U.S. president, in charge of the Army.

For more than 246 years, the Army has played a vital role in the history of the United States. The Army defends the nation by fighting wars, its most well-known contribution.

When the Army fights a major campaign, it adds a streamer—a narrow ribbon—to the Army flag. The Army flag has 190 campaign streamers today, ranging from the well-known Battle of Normandy that occurred from June to July 1944, to the more obscure Battle of Peking, which occurred during the 1900 China Relief Expedition.

Although the streamers are just pieces of cloth, their symbolism, especially to Army veterans, is immeasurable. The streamers represent dedication, sacrifice, and courage in ways most people can only dimly understand.

Countless Americans have served as national examples through their sacrifice and bravery in the Army, including George Washington and Mary Hays—known as “Molly Pitcher”—in the Revolutionary War, Alvin York in World War I, and Audie Murphy in World War II.

Molly Pitcher carried water to cool the cannon and soldiers in her husband’s battery. She allegedly took her husband’s place in the gun crew at the Battle of...

Biden Administration Outsources U.S. Asylum Process to UN and Foreign NGOs in Mexico

Pictured: A staffer from the UN International Organization for Migration congratulates immigrants at the U.S.-Mexico border as a group of at least 25 asylum seekers were allowed to travel from a migrant camp in Mexico into the U.S. on February 25, 2021 in Matamoros, Mexico. According to sources within Mexican law enforcement, in refugee centers like Tapachula and Matamoros, UN officials pressure Mexican immigration caseworkers to move migrants north to the United States as quickly as possible, regardless of status or process.
  • American taxpayer money is being filtered through the UN to foreign non-profits assisting migrants trying to enter the U.S. Turning over any portion of our immigration process to the UN is a disaster waiting to happen.
  • Americans always have recourse to elections to replace ineffective and/or corrupt politicians. What recourse for accountability exists for UN officials and their NGO surrogates?
  • How does the Biden administration ensure the UN will respect U.S. sovereign national security interests related to persons entering our country?
  • Americans should know that UNHCR operations have not been without scandal and controversy. In April 2019, NBC News ran a three-part series called "Asylum for Sale," detailing a seven-month long investigation across five countries which uncovered claims against UN officials.
  • The Biden administration is ignoring immigration law. The UN and non-profits are actively working to subvert and reverse U.S. immigration law.
  • The UN is squandering U.S. taxpayer money on organizations and processes that undermine our national security.
Most Americans are not even aware that the United Nations is hard at work implementing the Biden administration's open borders policies for the U.S.-Mexican border. But UN agencies in Mexico play an important role in assisting migrants with U.S. asylum applications and quickly moving them north into the U.S. -- currently at an unprecedented level.

The Biden administration has requested that the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) channel U.S. funds to non-profit groups in Mexico for identifying and referring the "neediest" asylum seekers to U.S. officials. Reuters reporting on the question of "neediest" includes persons with medical conditions, those who have experienced long periods of displacement, sexual minorities and victims of crime, trafficking and sexual violence. Details are sparse concerning whether the UNHCR realizes a fee or percentage for their channeling efforts.

For clarity: American taxpayer money is being filtered through the UN to foreign non-profits assisting migrants trying to enter the U.S. Turning over any portion of our immigration process to the UN is a disaster waiting to happen.

Here are the pertinent questions we should be asking:

Rep. Brian Mast: Flag Day 2021 -- what every American should know about the sacrifice woven into our flag

Our flag flew into so many battles against tyranny and was raised in the name of liberty and peace

The ‘Outnumbered’ panel reacts to an MSNBC segment with New York Times’ Mara Gay in which she characterizes seeing American flags being waived by Trump voters as ‘disturbing’

Last week, New York Times editorial board member Mara Gay proclaimed that the sight of "dozens of American flags" on a pickup truck was "disturbing" because she thought the message those flying the flags were trying to send was that she was not welcome in our country.

In the next breadth, Gay suggested that the solution to this perceived slight was to "marginalize" the tens of millions of patriotic, freedom-loving Trump supporters. In other words, she wants to actually do what she accused those flying the flag of trying to say.

This is fundamentally the hypocrisy of the current liberal movement. Inclusiveness to them means only including those who agree with their world view and who are willing to succumb to their attempts to control as many aspects of...

Video: Students Trash The U.S. Flag, Equate It With War, Genocide, Racism

“Absolute love of the American flag is correlated to extremism.”

With today, June 14th, being Flag Day, Campus Reform visited the University of Texas in Dallas to see what students think their country’s flag represents.

Reporter Ophelie Jacobson was subject to some disturbing comments, with many saying they feel the U.S. flag is a global symbol of war and genocide.

“A lot of things come to mind. First of all, war. Second of all, we’ve also taken a bit of land from Native Americans,” one student commented, adding “it’s just really terrible that we’ve done all these things and this flag kind of reminds me of that, of all the sins we’ve committed against others.”

The same student agreed that the flag represents ‘racism’, claiming “the whole ‘patriotism’ thing sweeps that narrative of racism, oppression and the like under the rug.”

Another student said the flag represents “nationalism, exclusiveness, and selfishness,” adding “I’ve definitely seen the American flag used as a symbol of racism,” and suggesting supporters of President Trump waving the flag at rallies is one example of that.

Another student stated that “absolute love of the American flag is correlated to extremism.”

Most students didn’t even know there was a day to celebrate the flag and opined that it is either unnecessary or ‘redundant’.

Only one student said that the American flag represents ‘freedom’.

One could argue that this sad state of affairs is a result of years of foreign interventions by globalists using America as their vehicle to undermine freedom, as well as...
