Facebook Censorship Board Member: Free Speech Is Not A Human Right

Free speech is not a human right, according to prominent Facebook censorship board member Helle Thorning-Schmidt.

“What we’re trying to find, of course, I think many of us engaging in this conversation, is that middle road. How do you moderate content and how do you find that balance between human rights and free speech, which is a human right, but also other human rights because free speech is not an absolute human right,” the Facebook Oversight Board co-chair said during a live stream of Politico’s Tech 28 spotlight.

“It has to be balanced with all the human rights and that is what the oversight is there to do,” she added.

The former Danish prime minister went on to spuriously claim that without the oversight board, which oversees massive suppression campaigns and makes decisions such as whether to allow former President Donald Trump back on the platform. She ignored the long list of politically motivated digital throttling completed by Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and others to claim that the oversight board could be the best end-all for tech content regulation.

“Now we have the oversight board which is a completely new invention to do this work and of course, I want to say that I think this is a very very positive new way of doing it,” she said, speaking highly of the tech giant’s newest censorship campaign.

Thorning-Schmidt previously argued in favor of Facebook’s oversight board colluding with other tech oligarchs to create a mass digital suppression campaign that spreads...

Court Declares Laws Banning Handgun Sales to People Under 21 Unconstitutional

A federal appeals court ruled Thursday that federal laws banning firearms dealers from selling handguns to customers under the age of 21 were unconstitutional.

The United States Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit said in the decision that there was no reason to treat the Second Amendment any differently from other constitutional rights citizens enjoy no later than the age of 18. The court ruled that 18-year-olds possess Second Amendment rights, and the federal government failed “to justify its infringement of those rights under the appropriate level of scrutiny.”

“Despite the weighty interest in reducing crime and violence, we refuse to relegate either the Second Amendment or 18- to 20-year-olds to a second-class status,” Judge Julius Richardson wrote in the majority opinion.

The case, Hirschfield v. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, concerned a federal law making it illegal for federally licensed firearms dealers to sell handguns to customers under the age of 21. The law was included as part of the Gun Control Act of 1968, and was justified due to the disproportionate crime rates of 18- to 21-year-olds, according to the ruling.

“To justify this restriction, Congress used disproportionate crime rates to craft over-inclusive laws that restrict the rights of overwhelmingly law-abiding citizens,” Richardson said. “So we hold that the challenged federal laws and regulations are unconstitutional under the...

Democrat Groups Plan to ‘Fact Check’ Private SMS Messages

To counter “misinformation about vaccines.” ...and who knows what else...

Groups allied with the Biden administration are planning on working directly with cellphone network providers to ‘fact check’ private SMS messages if they contain “misinformation about vaccines.”

The revelation is made in a Politico article which explains how the White House is preparing to characterize “conservative opponents of its Covid-19 vaccine campaign as dangerous and extreme.”

The decision to ramp up the information war against vaccine skeptics was made after conservatives showed resistance to the Biden administration’s plan to go “door-to-door” to increase vaccination rates.

“Biden allied groups, including the Democratic National Committee, are also planning to engage fact-checkers more aggressively and work with SMS carriers to dispel misinformation about vaccines that is sent over social media and text messages,” states the report. “The goal is to ensure that people who may have difficulty getting a vaccination because of issues like transportation see those barriers lessened or removed entirely.”

The prospect of the DNC and other government-affiliated groups having access to Americans’ private text messages represents a chilling surveillance dystopia.

Interfering with and trying to ‘fact check’ people’s personal conversations is also utterly demented.

Recall that ‘fact-checkers’ infamously declared the Wuhan lab leak hypothesis to be a “debunked conspiracy theory” at the start of the pandemic, only to be forced into a humiliating...
