Biden linkage of school lunches to LGBTQ agenda holds low-income kids 'hostage': critics
"This administration believes children belong to them, not parents, and wants to ensure the next generation is confused about its gender," said Marc Little.
The Biden administration's controversial new mandate tying school lunch funds to the implementation of its transgender policies will primarily hurt low-income and minority students, according to experts and community activists.
"Holding the lunch money of low-income and underprivileged kids hostage in order to advance a woke gender orthodoxy shows precisely the lengths to which the president will go to ensure his pet policies on 'gender identity' are rammed through American lunchrooms, classrooms, bathrooms, dorm rooms, and sports teams," said Sarah Parshall Perry, senior legal fellow at the Heritage Foundation.
Perry was referring to the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS), an agency within the Department of Agriculture (USDA), announcing last month that it will extend its interpretation of prohibitions on sex-based discrimination contained in Title IX to include discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 forbids sex-based discrimination in any educational institution that receives federal money.
Because the USDA provides federally subsidized school lunches nationwide, schools will now need to comply with the administration's LGBTQ policies in order to maintain the federal funding.
Schools that receive funds from FNS must also "investigate allegations of discrimination based on gender identity or sexual orientation," the agency said in its announcement. "Those organizations must also update their non-discrimination policies and signage to include prohibitions against discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation."
The USDA manages the National School Lunch Program, which fed about 30 million students a day before the COVID-19 pandemic upended school schedules. Under the program, low-income children are eligible to receive reduced-price or free meals at school.
The new interpretation of Title IX will mean that schools can lose funding for such programs if they don't implement transgender-inclusive policies, which often include rules allowing transgender students to use the bathroom and locker room of their preferred...

FBI cuffs, shackles Trump adviser Peter Navarro, arrested for not bowing to Jan 6 committee: ‘It’s terrorism, it’s coercion’
Former Trump adviser Dr. Peter Navarro was outrageously arrested and handcuffed at a Washington, D.C.-area airport just one day after vowing to help Republicans impeach President Joe Biden.
“They responded with effectively the same kind of thing you’d see in Stalin’s Russia or the Chinese Communist Party,” Navarro told reporters outside the courtroom on Friday. “I note interestingly for the record, the only two people that have been indicted on criminal charges are me and Steve Bannon.”
“There was no reason on God’s good Earth for what they did today to an American citizen. That did not have to happen. It’s terrorism, it’s coercion. There’s no excuse for what they did today. America needs to know this,” he raged.
Navarro was traveling from D.C. to Nashville, Tennessee when the FBI slapped handcuffs on him and took him into custody, ostensibly attempting to send a message by embarrassing him publicly over defying the January 6 select committee.
“I told them [to] contact an individual that would discuss this matter. What did they do? They didn’t call me. I spoke to the FBI agent that arrested me. I spoke to him Wednesday night. I said, ‘Walter, whatever you need. You don’t have to come banging on my door like you did last week getting me out of bed. I’m here to cooperate.’ What did they do? I was on my way to Nashville today to do a TV appearance with Mike Huckabee’s show, all right?” Navarro recounted.
“And instead of coming to my door where I live, which by the way is right next to the FBI, instead of calling me and say, ‘Hey, we need you down in court, we’ve got a warrant for you,’ I would have gladly come. What did they do? They intercepted me getting on the plane. Then they put me in handcuffs, they bring me here, they put me in leg irons, stick me in a cell,” he charged.
“Their mission, their clear mission, is to prevent Donald John Trump from running for president in 2024 and being elected president,” he said, asserting that the Jan. 6 committee had weaponized the DOJ. “People like me are in their way and they’re not coming for me, they’re coming for you. All 74 million of you who voted for...
