SPLC Labels Parental Rights Advocates as ‘Hate and Anti-Government Groups’

On Tuesday, the far-left Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) added several prominent parental rights organizations to its list of “hate and anti-government groups,” creating a detailed map that shows where such groups are located throughout the U.S.

As reported by the New York Post, the SPLC’s “Year In Hate and Extremism 2022” report lists a total of 1,225 “hate and anti-government extremist groups” throughout the country, an increase from 733 in 2021. Many of the new additions to the list are groups dedicated to transparency in public education and greater rights for parents to determine their own children’s education.

“Schools, especially, have been on the receiving end of ramped-up and coordinated hard-right attacks, frequently through the guise of ‘parents’ rights’ groups,” the group claims. “These groups were, in part, spurred by the right-wing backlash to COVID-19 public safety measures in schools. But they have grown into an anti-student inclusion movement that targets any inclusive curriculum that contains discussions of race, discrimination and LGBTQ identities.”

One such group targeted by the SPLC is the group Moms for Liberty, which has 280 chapters across 45 states and over 115,000 members nationwide. The group focuses on holding schools accountable for trying to promote sexually explicit or racially divisive literature to students, in the name of “diversity, equity, and inclusion.”

“They can be spotted at school board meetings across the country wearing shirts and carrying signs that declare, ‘We do NOT CO-PARENT with the GOVERNMENT,’” the SPLC says as it describes Moms for Liberty in its report, declaring it to be an “extremist group” that is “at the forefront of this mobilization.”

Other groups targeted by the SPLC include No Left Turn in Education, Parental Rights in Education, and Parents Involved in Education.

These groups emerged after the mass implementation of “remote learning” during the Chinese Coronavirus pandemic allowed many parents to see first-hand what their children were being taught, with many around the country objecting to lessons about Critical Race Theory, transgenderism, and other highly political topics meant to divide children along racial and gender lines. A grassroots movement began that saw school board meetings protested all across the country, with a number of groups waging successful campaigns to remove school board members from office and replace them with conservative parents and parents’ rights advocates.

In 2021, the Biden Administration briefly labeled such groups as “domestic terrorists” after Merrick Garland’s Department of Justice received a letter from the National School Boards Association (NSBA) demanding that they...

The Air Force Is Using Taxpayer Money To Fly Service Members To Branch ‘Pride’ Events

The U.S. Air Force has authorized Air and Space Force commanders to use taxpayer money to cover the travel costs for service members seeking to attend the branch’s upcoming “pride” events.

On June 1, Marianne Malizia, the director of the Air Force’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion, issued a memo notifying branch commanders of several upcoming LGBT-related events in Washington, D.C., hosted by the Department of the Air Force (DAF). According to the memo, Air and Space Force commanders will be permitted to utilize “unit funds” to pay for service members under their command to “travel to, and participate in, this year’s DAF Pride events if approved by their individual supervisory authority.”

“Service members or civilian employees may attend conferences at the unit expense to maintain and improve professional competency or to improve management of the Department’s functions and activities,” the memo reads. The DAF justifies the use of taxpayer money to pay for such travel under Section 030201 of the Defense Department’s Joint Travel Regulation, which establishes “travel and transportation allowances” for military service members.

A rainbow-colored flyer accompanying the memo lists the three upcoming events the DAF is slated to participate in, including a “Pride at the Pentagon” celebration scheduled to be held at the Pentagon Air Force Art Gallery on June 8 and an “LGBTQ+ Initiatives Team (LIT) Symposium” to be held at the Pentagon Library & Conference Center on June 9. The Air Force will also have a recruiting booth at...

Left Seeks to Extend Voting to Prisoners, Noncitizens to Expand Base

Inmate voting, noncitizen voting, and even mandatory voting have been among the initiatives pushed in Democrat-led jurisdictions this year to expand their voting base.

“The Left wants to normalize voter classes that nobody took seriously a generation ago—criminals, foreigners—to help them win elections,” J. Christian Adams, president of the Public Interest Legal Foundation, an election integrity group, told The Daily Signal.

As I noted in my book “The Myth of Voter Suppression,” Democrats long have sought to change election laws to gain a political advantage.

The nation’s capital, the District of Columbia, adopted noncitizen voting this year for local elections such as mayor and city council. Oregon lawmakers are pushing prisoner voting, while blue states on the West and East coasts are considering mandatory voting.

“The Left talks big about ‘helping everyone vote,’ but for at least the past decade, they’ve focused all their efforts on only helping their preferred voters cast a ballot,” Hayden Ludwig, director of policy research at Restoration of America, a conservative group, told The Daily Signal in an email. “Everything from lowering the voting age to vote-by-mail and felon voting rights is geared to drive turnout among the ‘New American Majority,’ their term for the demographic groups Democrats are pinning all their hopes on.”

The District of Columbia is looking to join five states—California, Illinois, Maryland, New York, and Vermont—to allow noncitizen voting in local elections for municipal offices or school boards, according to the organization Americans for Citizen Voting. A court has blocked the law from taking effect in New York City.

Democrats in the Oregon state Legislature advanced a bill to make the state the third in the country to allow...
