Toyota Leaves California For Texas

Toyota’s decision this week to leave Torrance, California, for the pro-business environs of Plano, Texas, sent shock waves through the Southern California community where Toyota employs more than five percent of the workforce. According to MSN Money, the move brings to mind Nissan’s decision eight years ago to move 1,300 jobs to the no-income tax state of Tennessee. A former Nissan executive recalled how the move equated to the company’s employees “getting a 20-percent raise.”

According to the 2013 City of Torrance’s Comprehensive Annual Report, the city stands to lose more than $473 million in property taxes. Plus, just over a year ago, Moody’s downgraded Torrance’s credit rating, citing a weakened general fund and increasing public expenditures.

Toyota’s Torrance-based employees would benefit from doing their own calculation of how a move to Texas could affect their personal income. Financial planner and fellow Fobes.com columnist Robert W. Wood lays out a scenario that shows how some workers potentially could save more than a million dollars over a lifetime. The innovative automaker Tesla surely must be taking this into account when deciding which state offers the best opportunities for its new battery factory. Right now, California is in the running for the new plant, but so are several no-income tax states.

Leftist Policies In California Chase PRATT & WHITNEY Division To Other States..

The California economy got another punch in the nose as aerospace contractor Pratt & Whitney announced last week that their AeroPower facility in San Diego will relocate all remaining operations to existing facilities to Florida, Georgia, Texas and Canada.

Last year, the company announced layoffs of more than 800 employees and said that another 575 had agreed to retire with voluntary buyouts.  The latest announcement will cost the city 530 high paying jobs as AeroPower permanently closes all its facilities.  A spokesman for Governor Brown's Go-Biz, Office of Business and Economic Development, declined to comment on Pratt & Whitney's latest departure.
Pratt & Whitney’s AeroPower division makes portable military and commercial auxiliary power units used mainly to provide electricity and air conditioning to aircraft on the ground, and to start a plane's main engines for airplanes. AeroPower's military business will move to Pratt & Whitney's Military Engines organization and the commercial side will go to Pratt & Whitney Canada. Pratt & Whitney, a United Technologies Corp. subsidiary, employs about 32,000 workers worldwide, with about 15,000 in the United States.
According to a statement by Pratt & Whitney spokesman Ray Hernandez, “This decision, while a difficult one to make, is necessary to maintain our competitiveness in the market, further leverage Pratt & Whitney's network and best position the company for the future.” He said that Pratt & Whitney has been dealing with fallout from spending cuts as the U.S. military is preparing to exit Iraq and Afghanistan. The firm said they were also hit with uncertainty in the commercial jet engine spare parts business.

Boko Haram: We are at War with Christianity

Christian girls kidnapped and forcibly converted to Islam
We have always known this, the media hides it, and the White House seemingly could care less. There will be no hashtag campaign on this..

The reason that Boko Haram believes its kidnapping of over 200 Nigerian girls is justified is because of Islamist teachings that the taking of female slaves is justified during jihad. And this jihad is not limited to Nigeria. In a recent video, its leader said it is at war with Christianity and democracy.
There are efforts to gloss over the fact that Boko Haram is inspired by Islamist doctrine. Comedian Dean Obeidallah writes that Boko Haram is not “Islamic” and the media shouldn’t describe it as “Islamist,” “Islamic terrorists” or anything of the sort.
Ahmed Bedier, former executive director of the Tampa chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and current leader of United Voices for America, speaking at a press conference organized by Muslim advocacy groups to distance Islam from Boko Haram, said he was “tired of people coming on television asking, ‘Where does this ideology come from?’ ” His answer was that it “comes from nowhere.”Yet, the leader of the same press conference, Imam Johari Abdul-Malik, the spokesman for the Dar Al Hijra mosque in Falls Church Va., said in reference to formally excommunicating Boko Haram’s leader Abubakar Shekau, “There is a great reluctance to excommunicate someone by extension. … It would be like convicting someone in absentia.”Two days later, in a telephone interview, when asked to give sources from Islamic texts that contradict Boko Haram’s Islamist ideology, the interviewer reported that Abdul-Malik “quickly ended the call.”CAIR and its allies work hard to cleanse the semantics of the media so the Islamist ideology isn't a topic of scrutiny, but Boko Haram leader Abubaker Shekau wants the world to know that he is motivated by Islamic sources. For example, he said:“If we meet infidels, if we meet those that become infidels, according to Allah, there is not any talk except..
