Senate Republicans Plan to Follow Joe Biden’s Advice on the Supreme Court Vacancy

Months before the 1992 presidential election, Joe Biden urged fellow U.S. senators to shut down the nomination process and block President George H.W. Bush’s judicial picks from a confirmation vote.

Today, Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, called on the Senate to follow what he dubbed “the Biden Rules.”

The lawmakers should leave Antonin Scalia’s seat on the Supreme Court empty until a new president nominates a successor, Grassley said.

“It’s the principle, not the person,” Grassley argued, quoting at length from remarks made 24 years ago by Biden when the vice president was a senator from Delaware.

Grassley said the Judiciary Committee should listen to Biden’s reminder “of the Senate’s constitutional authority to provide, or withhold, consent, as the circumstances require.”

In a floor speech June 25, 1992, Sen. Joe Biden, then chairman of the Judiciary Committee, argued that....

News Flash: Ted Cruz is the Lead Singer of Christian Metal Band Stryper

There’s a pretty good chance that Republican presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)  is not the famed Zodiac Killer,  as some have theorized (we know that is Bernie Sanders) — but could he be the lead singer of ’80s Christian metal band Stryper?

That’s the theory circulating around social media this week after one Facebook user, author Michael Boulerice, posted a side-by-side photo comparison of the Texas senator and Stryper lead singer Michael Sweet.

The photo comparison quickly went viral, prompting a tongue-in-cheek response from Sweet himself:

Newt Gingrich: If You’re Not for Trump or Cruz, You Are for Hillary

Thursday on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity,” former House Speaker Newt Gingrich doubled down on a claim he had made earlier in the day regarding some in the GOP abandoning either of the leading two Republican presidential contenders, Donald Trump or Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX).

Gingrich warned that by not falling in line behind Trump or Cruz is effectively supporting Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton.

“Let’s be honest, if you want to help elect Hillary Clinton, then help elect Hillary Clinton and a radical Supreme Court, but don’t give us any pious baloney that...

VIDEO: Harvard students debate whether whites should kill themselves due to ‘privilege’

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – White lives do not matter, according to a student debater/activist from the University of West Georgia.

Miguel Feliciano, along with fellow West Georgia student Damiyr Davis, reportedly participated in a recent debate with other students at Harvard University.

During an exchange with their opponents, Feliciano suggested that white people should kill themselves because of their “white privilege.”

The exchange was caught on video and posted on YouTube.

“White life is wrong,” Feliciano was quoted as saying by Infowars.com. “Our argument is that we should never affirm white life. White life is based off black subjugation.”

When a white debater asked Feliciano whether he should commit suicide, Feliciano said “I don’t see why not, it’s ethical.”

When the white debater suggested that it might be better to remain alive and fight the social forces that promote “white privilege,” Feliciano rejects the notion.

“Struggling against the structure means putting yourself on the line, putting your body on the line, do it. Affirmative suicide, that’s cool, it’s one little step in the right direction,” Feliciano said, according to Infowars.com.

Ironically, the debate topic was supposed to be about renewable energy.

“The black debaters simply ‘chose’ to point out their opponents’ skin color and begin advocating genocide,” reported InvestmentWatchdogBlog.com. “They expressly stated that..

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Five Things You Didn't Know About St. Patrick's Day:
St. Patrick Was Not Irish

His birth name was actually Maewyn Succat -- it wasn't until he was in the Church that it was changed to Patricius, or Patrick. St. Patrick, the Apostle of Ireland, was born in Kilpatrick, near Dumbarton, which is in Scotland. As a teenager, he was kidnapped by Irish raiders and enslaved as a shepherd for several years. He attributed his ability to persevere to his faith in God.
Did St. Patrick Drive All the Snakes Out of Ireland?
Despite the popular lore, St. Patrick did not drive the snakes out of Ireland because the island did not have any to begin with. Icy water surrounds the Emerald Isle, which prevented snakes from migrating over.

Green?
Green may be the national color of Ireland, but the color most associated with St. Patrick is blue. The Order of St. Patrick was established in 1783 as the senior order of chivalry in the Kingdom of Ireland. The color associated with the honor needed to differentiate it from the Order of the Garter (dark blue) and the Order of the Thistle (green). So they went with blue.
Largest St. Patrick's Day Parades Are Held Outside of Ireland
The first St. Patrick's Day parade was held in the U.S. The Irish have been celebrating the feast of St. Patrick since the ninth century, but the first recorded parade anywhere was in Boston in 1737. The parade was not Catholic in nature, though, because the majority of Irish immigrants to the colonies were Protestant. Ireland did not have a parade of its own until 1931, in Dublin. Even today, 18 out of the 20 largest St. Patrick's Day parades are in the states -- New York's is the largest.
Shamrock Used to Explain the Holy Trinity
St. Patrick used a three-leafed shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity to pagan Irish, forever linking the shamrock with him and the Irish in the popular imagination. He would tie shamrocks to his robes, which is why the color green is worn.

Bill Makes ‘Victimless’ Firearms Crime Punishable Throughout Lifetime...

A bill introduced on March 15 re-categorizes the crime of failing to file firearms transfer papers, making a failure to file punishable at any point during one’s lifetime.

Current law requires that all firearm transfers be reported to the California Department of Justice via a mail-in form announcing that the gun has changed hands. The Firearms Policy Coalition reports that the form costs $19, and the new bill, Senate Bill 1037, categorizes the failure to file as a “continuing offense.” The punishment for this offense can range from a misdemeanor to a felony.

The text of SB 1037 reads:
