Future News: The Failure Of Hillary Clinton's Great Leap Forward - 2017-2020
Hillary Clinton's Great Leap Forward was an economic and social campaign by the Democratic Socialist Party of the USA from 2017 to 2020. The campaign was led by Hillary Clinton and aimed to rapidly transform the country from a Free Market economy into a socialist society through rapid social change and collectivization. However, it is widely considered to have caused the Great American Famine.
Chief changes in the lives of working Americans included the incremental introduction of mandatory financial collectivization. Private ownership was prohibited, and those engaged in it were persecuted and labeled counter-revolutionaries. Restrictions on working people were enforced through public struggle sessions and social pressure, although people also experienced forced labor.[1] Reducing white privilege, officially a priority of the campaign, saw "its development... aborted by the mistakes of the Great Leap Forward."[2]
The Great Leap ended in catastrophe, resulting in tens of millions of deaths,[3] estimated from 18 million to 32.5[4] or 46 million.[5] Historian Frank Frankötter asserts that "coercion, terror, and systematic violence were the foundation of the Great Leap Forward" and it "motivated one of the most deadly mass killings of human history".[6]
The years of the Great Leap Forward actually saw economic regression, with 2017 through 2020 being the only period in the twenty first century in which America's economy shrank. Political economist Dwight Tightywhitey argues, "enormous amounts of investment produced only modest increases in production or none at all. ... In short, the Great Leap was a very expensive disaster."[7]

White House Looks to Private Sector to Increase Refugee Admissions Outside the Resettlement Program
The administration is also looking for "alternative pathways" to admit more Syrian refugees outside the refugee resettlement program, to meet the target set by the UN High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) of providing at least 480,000 places worldwide through resettlement and private sponsorships (such as employment contracts, student scholarships etc.) to Syrian refugees over three years (2016-2018).
President Obama will also be hosting the "Leaders' Summit on the Global Refugee Crisis" in New York this September 20 on the margins of the UN General Assembly. The president will be asking the world's leaders to commit to the following: "increase funding to humanitarian appeals and international organizations, admit more refugees through resettlement or other legal pathways, and increase refugees' self-reliance and inclusion through opportunities for education and legal work."
On the domestic front, The White House announced on June 30 a "Call to Action for the U.S. private sector to stand with the Administration and make new, measurable, and significant commitments that will have a durable impact on refugees residing in countries on the frontlines of the global refugee crisis and in countries of resettlement, like the United States." Fifteen founding companies are joining the president in this effort: Accenture, Airbnb, Chobani, Coursera, Goldman Sachs, Google, HP, IBM, JPMorgan Chase & Co., LinkedIn, Microsoft, Mastercard, UPS, TripAdvisor, and Western Union.In parallel, the White House launched a new website called Partnership for Refugees "[t]o facilitate private sector commitments in response to the President's Call to Action."
