A Speed Lane For Trump Nominees?

There are currently almost 150 of President Trump’s judicial nominees awaiting confirmation (you can see a full list of them here) and while some progress has been made in clearing the backlog, Republicans are looking to speed up the process. With Democrats running out the clock for a full thirty hours of post-cloture debate and delay on what used to be a fairly normal, non-controversial process, the system has turned into a procedural quagmire.

With that in mind, some members are pushing for another rendition of the nuclear option, shortening the debate time for judicial nominees below the appellate level and executive branch nominees below the cabinet level. If approved, a simple majority vote would allow the process to be completed. (The Hill)
A group of Republican senators wants to press the button on a new “nuclear option” that would limit debate time on President Trumps nominees.

The controversial move would hasten the pace of the president’s nominees getting confirmed and curtail Democratic power in the upper chamber.

Senate leaders have twice used the nuclear option to facilitate action on nominees in recent years.

In 2013, then-Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) stripped the minority of the power to...

REPORT: Former FBI Asst Director Suggests Obama, Brennan Committed Felonies, Not Flynn

At the start of this week, former FBI Assistant Director James Kallstrom suggested to Fox News' Maria Bartiromo that former President Barack Obama and former CIA Director John Brennan committed felonies and not Gen. Michael Flynn.

Kallstrom said that "high-ranking people throughout the government ... had a plot to not have Hillary Clinton indicted so that she could remain the flawed candidate that she was," RCP reported.

Kallstrom cited text messages from anti-Trump FBI agent Peter Strzok as evidence that the administration "had a backup plan to frame Donald Trump."

"My sources tell me [Brennan] was leaking almost weekly or daily, and he was taking that bunch of phony crap supposedly from Russia, and peddling that through the Congress and the media, he was one of the active people," said Kallstrom. "I've known him a long time and I think he's involved, and quite frankly, I think it goes right to the top, quite frankly."

Bartiromo responded by asking, "To President Obama?"

"It goes right to the top, and it involves that whole strategy. They were going to win [the 2016 election], nobody would ever know this stuff, and they just unleashed the intelligence community," Kallstrom continued.

"I hope Gen. Flynn sues a lot of people, because he was handled so bad. ... He didn't lie to the FBI. They didn't even interview him about a crime. He was in his legal authorized mode when all that happened," Kallstrom said.

"They are the people who committed felonies, not the general," Kallstrom suggested, apparently referring to Brennan and Obama. "They've ruined [Flynn] — and because they threatened his son, you know, they...(see video)
