Imran Awan Allegedly Tried ‘To Hide His Money’ While DOJ Negotiates With Him

  • Former Democratic IT staffer Imran Awan allegedly tried to “hide his money” recently.
  • Awan’s lawyer claims his client “does not have a pot to piss in.”
  • Awan is currently under FBI investigation over “unauthorized access” House servers and is indicted on charges of bank fraud.

Embattled former Democratic IT aide Imran Awan has as recently as weeks ago attempted to get someone to create an LLC to hide the ownership of real estate, and two people to buy a $40,000 gold bar for him, sources told The Daily Caller News Foundation. This while his lawyer has told The Daily Caller News Foundation that Imran “doesn’t have a pot to piss in.”

“He is totally unable to work and does not have a pot to piss in,” Imran attorney Chris Gowen wrote in a Feb. 27 email to TheDCNF.

Imran, who along with wife Hina Alvi worked as a server administrator for Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, has been the target of an FBI investigation since the House Inspector General alleged in September 2016 that he made “unauthorized access” to House servers and systematically falsified congressional financial records. Prosecutors have charged Imran and Alvi with bank fraud related to a House retirement account and a mortgage after the FBI said Imran impersonated his wife and initiated a $300,000 wire transfer to Pakistan, claiming it was for a funeral.

Investigators say the alleged congressional fraud may extend to millions of dollars. The FBI is in possession of hundreds of “Suspicious Activity Reports” detailing unusual transfers from Imran’s bank accounts, officials said.

“This is a national security issue… He should have been locked up in jail a long time ago with all his family members,” Rep. Steve King, an Iowa Republican who serves on the Committee on the Judiciary, told TheDCNF after it briefed him on the latest findings. “Anybody that’s hiding assets by buying gold bars and trying to get people to set up LLCs, who knows what else is going on. If he’s going to those lengths there are a lot of assets here,” he said. “How much of this do [prosecutors] know? They should.”

On May 3, prosecutors said they were “currently exploring a possible resolution of this matter.”

“I can’t understand why [prosecutors would strike a plea deal], unless he’s not the biggest fish in the school,” King told TheDCNF.

The allegations add another colorful twist to a story that already includes the suspect leaving a laptop with the username RepDWS in a phone booth after he was banned from the House network; an arrest at Dulles airport with a suitcase full of cash; and the disappearance of the entire House Democratic Caucus server.

Disappearing money would be key because Republican House officials close to the probe say that not only did huge quantities of House technology equipment disappear, they suspect Imran ran a $7 million “ghost employee” scheme where no-show employees — one of whom had been most-recently worked at McDonald’s — were added to the House payroll as IT administrators.

In a deposition, Imran’s stepmom — who was interviewed by the FBI — said the bureau asked her where the money was going.

A source told TheDCNF the purpose of the new LLC Imran wanted them to create was to hold assets, including real estate, but that the assets would remain under Imran’s control.

The Awans owned numerous homes that operated as rental properties. TheDCNF interviewed most of the tenants, and all said the Awans demanded rent in the form of cash or blank money orders.

Virginia licensing documents show that Imran became a licensed real estate broker during the time period he was earning $160,000 from Congress. The licensing process requires certifying that...

Vegas Docs Reveal Stephen Paddock Told Uber Driver About A "Terrorist Attack For Mandalay Bay"

A witness statement that is part of a batch of newly released police documents concerning the Las Vegas shooting reveals that in the days before the Las Vegas shooting, Stephen Paddock and a woman were picked up by an Uber driver who said Paddock “commented on the Mandalay Bay Area for a terrorist attack” as he was being dropped off at the Mandalay Bay. The witness statement is one of many previously unspoken statements that were released nearly one week ago after a judge ordered them to be released. Newly released LVMPD witness statement from Uber driver who picked up Stephen Paddock
“I got a request to pick up Paddock at Terminal #1 pick-up area for Uber, not sure what day or time. I picked up a man and a woman with a big blue suitcase, old looking, and heavy, and he commented on the Mandalay Bay area for a terrorist attack and [was] dropped at the Mandalay Bay,” the Uber driver stated in her report filed with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. “Maybe check Uber records.” --Witness Uber driver who had contact with Stephen Paddock

Newly released LVMPD witness statement from Uber driver who picked up Stephen Paddock

The name of the Uber driver is redacted on the report, but the driver is described as a 5'10 200-pound woman with red hair and blue eyes. The witness statement was documented on October 4, 2017 by an LVMPD officer, which begs the question as to why the public is only now finding out 8 months after the Las Vegas shooting that Paddock mentioned a terrorist attack taking place at Mandalay Bay, prior to the attack. Interestingly, the witness originally wrote "they" in her statement, but then crossed out the word "they" and changed it to "he". However, in the witness statement, it is made very clear that another woman was also in the car with Paddock and the Uber driver. It is unclear whether the woman in the Uber with Paddock was his girlfriend Marilou Danley, but other recently released Vegas shooting documents revealed that three women were in Paddock's room when police entered his 32nd floor suite the night of the shooting Oct 1, 2017.

On October 1, 2017, police say Stephen Paddock, 64, opened fire from his 32nd floor suite at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, killing 58 people and injuring over 800 more. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police and the FBI have still not provided a motive for the shooting, remaining adamant that Paddock was a lone shooter and that the Las Vegas Shooting was not an act of terrorism. It is concerning that investigators would immediately say that the Las Vegas shooting is not an act of terrorism, because according to the witness statement, Paddock himself used the phrase "terrorist attack" when speaking to the Uber driver about Mandalay Bay.

Immediately following the Las Vegas shooting, ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack, saying that Paddock was an ISIS soldier who converted to Islam six months prior to the attack. However, without completing an investigation and less than 48 hours after the shooting, Aaron Rouse, the Special Agent in Charge of the FBI in Las Vegas told the American public and the media in a press conference on October 2, 2017, one day after the shooting, “We have determined, to this point, no connection to an international terrorist group.”

Adding more concern to questions surrounding the competence level and honesty of Las Vegas shooting investigators, including Sheriff Lombardo and Agent Rouse, the witness statement was documented on October 4, 2017. However, according to a statement made by Dr. Larry Barton, an FBI Academy Threat Management Instructor, during an interview with NBC News on October 2, 2017, “I just got this 10 minutes ago, and you’ll be the first people to know this. The good people of Uber just called me to tell me that they picked up this perpetrator and his girlfriend on September 9th, and September 20th, and guess where they took them? To the Mandalay Bay. This fell out of fortune, so I suggested to Uber, you need to ...

California AIDS Rates Soar After Jerry Brown Legalized Willful HIV Spread

AIDS rates in California have soared in the last year following Gov. Jerry Brown’s decision to legalize the intentional spread of the HIV virus.

Last year, Governor Brown passed a controversial law that made it legal for HIV infected people to knowingly infect others. He also gave blood banks the green-light to accept HIV infected blood from donors.

Unsurprisingly, this has been a complete disaster for the state of California.

Whilst HIV and AIDS cases continue to decline nationally, new figures show that California is currently in the grip of a new epidemic.

Patch.com reports: More than half of new HIV cases in 2016 were in Southern states, where 38 percent of U.S. residents live, the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said. In California, there were 15.2 new cases per 100,000 population in 2016, according to the report.

Though new cases were disproportionately concentrated in the South, HIV infections nationwide dropped 18 percent from 2008 to 2014, the CDC said in an earlier report. The biggest decline — 56 percent, to 1,700 cases in 2014 — was among IV drug users, but the opioid crisis could offset those gains, said Dr. Jonathan Mermin, director of the agency’s National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention.

“The opioid epidemic in our country is jeopardizing the dramatic progress we’ve made in reducing HIV among people who inject drugs,” Mermin said in a statement. “We need to expand the reach of comprehensive syringe services programs, which reduce the risk of HIV infection without increasing drug use, and can link people to vital services to help them stop using drugs.”

Some states saw substantial drops in HIV infection rates during the six-year period, according to the earlier report. New HIV infection rates dropped by 10 percent each year in Washington, D.C., 8 percent in Maryland, 7 percent in Pennsylvania, 6 percent in Georgia, 5 percent in New York and North Carolina, 4 percent in Illinois and 2 percent in Texas.

The new CDC report on HIV rates, based on 2014 and 2015 data, takes a deeper look at the geographic locations and racial and ethnic backgrounds of those most at risk. It showed that 37,600 people nationally were diagnosed with HIV in 2014, more than half of them in the South. Also that year, 53 percent of the 6,000 people who died from HIV lived in the South.

SubscribeThe report marks some other differences, too. Nationally, the majority of people with new HIV diagnoses live in urban areas, where medical treatment is readily available. But in the South and Midwest, 23 percent and 21 percent, respectively, live in suburban or isolated rural areas.

In the South in particular, the larger and more geographically dispersed population of people living with HIV creates special challenges for prevention and treatment, the CDC said.

Understanding the places and populations most affected by HIV and AIDS allows the federal government to more effectively target its resources where they’re needed the most, while still supporting basic HIV education and prevention for everyone across the country, according to the agency.

The need is especially acute in the South, where people are less likely than in other areas of the country to know they’re infected. Nationally, 85 percent of people living with HIV knew they had tested positive for the virus, but 10 of 17 Southern states fell below that mark.

Early treatment is critical. Nationally, 75 percent of people newly diagnosed with HIV got the care they needed within a month, but that didn’t happen in half of Southern states. As a result the CDC said, people are three times more likely to die in some Southern states as in others.

Minorities, especially African-Americans, were most at risk of HIV infections, according to the report. That corresponds to general population trends that show more than half of the nation’s black population lives in Southern states — Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia.

Also from the report:

  • In all geographic areas but the West, African-Americans were more likely to contract HIV than other races. They made up 54 percent of new diagnoses in the South, 50 percent of new diagnoses in the Midwest, 39 percent of new diagnoses in the Northeast, and 19 percent in the West.
  • In the West, 39 percent of people newly diagnosed with HIV were Hispanics/Latinos. That compares with...
