SURPRISE! Activist group suing Ron DeSantis over Martha’s Vineyard flights got over a million from George Soros network

The activist group behind the lawsuit against Ron DeSantis over Martha’s Vineyard is flush with cash from the network of lefty billionaire George Soros. Anyone surprised?

So often in situations like this, if you look long enough, you’ll find the fingerprints of George Soros somewhere.

Activists suing DeSantis over Martha’s Vineyard flights received over $1.3M from George Soros network

The activist group at the center of a class-action lawsuit against Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and other Florida officials for migrant flights to Martha’s Vineyard has received nearly $1.4 million from George Soros’ Open Society network.

Lawyers for Civil Rights, a nonprofit immigrant advocacy group, filed the lawsuit on behalf of Alianza Americas, according to a press release Tuesday that described the latter group as “a network of migrant-led organizations supporting immigrants across the United States.”

Alianza Americas has received a total of $1,383,947 from George Soros’ Open Society Foundations between 2016 and 2020, OSF’s records show.

The grants came from three of his nonprofits: Open Society Institute, Open Society Policy Center and Foundation to Promote Open Society.

HOUSE REPUBLICANS PLAN TO INVESTIGATE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE IF THEY TAKE THE MAJORITY

Today’s GOP war on the U.S. Chamber of Commerce represents a stunning turnaround from just a few years ago.

REPUBLICANS PLAN TO launch a variety of investigations into the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and many of its largest member corporations if they retake the majority in the House of Representatives this November. The probes, said a GOP member of Congress and multiple Republican operatives who requested anonymity to discuss plans that have yet to be made public, will marry Republicans’ newly formed hostility to the Chamber with the party’s mission to undermine the growth of the ESG investment sector.

The power of ESG — which stands for environmental, social, and governance — criteria to shape company valuations and behavior has become a major source of consternation among conservatives, who argue that companies that follow it are breaking with their fiduciary duty to maximize profits for investors.

The Chamber has infuriated Republicans by endorsing ESG criteria. “Today, for many companies, climate change and carbon emissions impact long-term value, thereby becoming a factor that retirement fund managers should take into consideration,” wrote a Chamber vice president in a typical statement in July 2020.

The congressman highlighted what he saw as the downfalls of that approach. Republicans accuse ESG advocates of using ESG criteria to punish American energy companies, only to then give an advantage to large, foreign energy companies over which the U.S. has little oversight anyways.

“How is it again that you can discourage investment in American energy when you own, or when you’re controlling board seats, of an American energy company, but you’re pushing it offshore to a Chinese energy company? Tell me you didn’t violate your fiduciary duty somehow,” said the congressman. “Then you throw that over into Judiciary [Committee hearings] and say, how do you reconcile this from an antitrust perspective? How can somebody actually be duty-of-care to the shareholders of one entity when you’re duty-of-care to the Chinese Communist Party’s-controlled...

The man charged with fatally hitting and running over a North Dakota teen justified the act by echoing the same “extremism” rhetoric President Joe Biden wielded against Republicans during his most recent address.

Shannon Brandt, 41, mowed down 18-year-old Cayler Ellingson early Sunday morning over what he later claimed was a “political argument” over whether “the teen was part of a Republican extremist group.” That language strongly resembles the description used by Biden just a few weeks ago to describe Trump and “MAGA Republicans” as being “a threat to the very soul of this country.” In that speech, Biden claimed it was Republicans who had “blind loyalty to a single leader and a willingness to engage in political violence”

Ellingson was reportedly participating in a street dance before the incident occurred. According to court documents obtained by Valley News Live, Ellingson called his mom shortly before the crash to ask if she knew who Brandt was. His mother confirmed she did and told Ellingson she was on the way to pick him up. In a second call, Ellingson told his mom Brandt was chasing him.

North Dakota Highway Patrol Capt. Bryan Niewind confirmed Brandt was the one “who called 911 to report the crash” around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, but that didn’t stop Brandt from abandoning the scene before officers arrived. Law enforcement confronted and arrested Brandt at his home where he admitted to attacking Ellingson based on political motivations and leaving the scene where Ellingson lay dying.
