The Kalashnikov Museum in Izhevsk, is a rather interesting place to visit. They also have a firing range in the basement where you can try out a variety of weapons, for example the Kalashnikov, the Dragunov and also the Makarov pistols.
I owned both and trained with the M16 variant and the AK is a good rifle, able to take a lot of abuse, but I prefer the M16 variant, familiarity perhaps.
