I did a web search trying to find out where Highland Village is. I expected a bunch of places with that name, but there was only one that sounded like a city. The rest were apartment buildings of shopping places. The city is in the suburbs of Dallas.
I don't see this going as planned by the extortionists. Austin may be "weird", but Dallas is still Texas. AFAIK from a thousand miles away.
