Way too much fuss about a train derailment. Everyone grabs "victim" status these days at the least opportunity.
Had they NOT burned off the chemicals spilled, those railcars could have BLEVE'd, and it would have really been like a small nuclear bomb had gone off. They wouldn't be worrying about how to clean up a chemical spill, they's be wondering how to rebuild everything flatted and incinerated for a 2 mile radius.
I think the responders did the best thing they could under the circumstances to save lives.
